CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47—DISTRIBUTING THE CRYSTALS

Chapter 47—Distributing the Crystals

A few minutes passed as the gang waited for Bull#1 to count the crystals, but he couldn’t as he missed the count in the middle and would start over from the beginning; it wasn’t the first time.

Thud!—"Enough," Elder Slime smacked him on the head and took the crystals.

"Hoo... puny slime..." Bull#1 scolded the old slime and was about to attack him, but "Acid Fist!" Thud!—he was punched in the face by Old Slime.

Smoke puffed from Bull#1’s face, and Thud!—he fainted on the ground.

"You can heal him, right?" Slime#47 asked, glancing at Cow#1.

She nodded, "I can; it’s a minor injury."

She’d already healed his broken horns and earlier injuries before they set out. Otherwise, how could Bull#1 have kept up with the rest?

"Wait... not now," Elder Slime interfered. "Heal him when we deal with these."

Cow#1 glanced at Young Slime; spotting that he didn’t object, she nodded, "Okay."

------

"Four one-striped crystals... not bad," Young Slime mused, as he counted the crystals in the pouch.

"Total of 221 crystals..." Elder Slime said, handing all the stripless crystals to Young Slime. He’d counted even from the small box found in Bailiff’s bedroom by the young slime.

He didn’t ask why or what Slime#47 wanted to do; he just handed them over and glanced at him.

’In the crates found in the farm owner’s house... I got 571 crystals—mana and aura combined... and 20 one-stripe, 6 two-stripe, and 2 three-stripe...’ Young Slime mused, not feeling any heartache to hand over the crystals.

Elder slime and Little slime had counted them when he’d scouted the village.

He then counted the dwellings, which were twenty-four—five in a row, and five rows total. One was Bailiff’s, which was burned.

"I am going to donate to them..." He said, under the piercing eyes of Elder Slime.

"By the way... do you know that they could help you learn techniques... and not just that... they also help in training many stats..." Elder Slime said, wanting to test Young Slime. "Also, they can be used to improve energy reserves."

"I decided already... We have enough for now.....But they would be dead, without these," Slime#47 declared, without wavering. He still remembered the girl eating bugs.

"By the way, they are also the currency..." Elder Slime said plainly.

"Yes... I know," Young Slime muttered, feeling annoyed.

He mused, ’I already know... When I found no money in secret rooms except these.’

He’d already figured it out in the slime farm owner’s hidden room, as there wasn’t any single currency like notes or the usual copper, silver, and gold coins he was familiar with from anime and manga.

Wob!—Wob!

He bounced over, not wanting to listen any longer to Elder Slime. What he didn’t notice was that Old Slime had a smile when he ran.

Some people who sneakily glanced from dwellings were surprised as Young Slime bounced in front of dwellings and placed a few mana and aura crystals in front of houses.

Wob!—Wob!

He placed five mana crystals and five aura crystals before each door.

He’d only placed ordinary stripless crystals as he felt striped ones might cause a problem for them.

Thud!—Thud! Farmers who had lost hope in life returned to their dwellings with slow steps, as if it was already a waste of effort.

They were excited as they spotted a red jelly blob placing the crystals in front of their doors. They stopped moving, as they were afraid it would be a dream.

-------

Soon, within a few moments, Slime#47 had placed all the crystals.

He’d to take nineteen of his own crystals as he lacked them to get ten for everyone, but he felt he gained a lot due to four striped crystals. Some villagers who were watching sneakily had tears in their eyes at his actions.

After taking one deep glance at the villagers, he muttered, "I hope you all survive..."

’Good,’ Elder Slime mused; he was impressed by the actions of Slime#47.

"Let’s go..." Young Slime said, taking a deep breath, bouncing over—Wob!

He wasn’t afraid of getting lost, as there was only a single road from the last dwelling row to the outside direction of the village.

He reached the end of the village as he sensed the transparent barrier over the place. It wrapped the village in a perfect circle—no breaks, no exit.

’Is it really... for defense?’ He mused, as he felt it was instead used for stopping villagers from escaping rather than protecting them.

"Acid Fist," he activated his skill and punched the barrier.

The barrier shook as waves on it spread, making the barrier visible like a shaking mirror. Just a second later, cracks spread from the area where he’d slammed his fist.

Crack! Crack!

The barrier shattered like pieces of a mirror and disappeared like burning paper.

Wob!—Wob!

’Finally... out,’ he mused as he stepped out of the village, taking a deep breath of fresh air.

The village had no arch entrance or any kind of entrance, which would have village name written; instead, it was just a plain concrete road.

Little Slime, Mama Slime, and Elder Slime followed Slime#47 as he bounced out, along with all the demons. Except Bull#1—still knocked out cold.

-----

When everyone had left the village, farmers dared to reach towards the crystals at their houses.

"This is real...?" The farmer questioned himself, picking up the crystals in front of his dwelling.

He even pinched himself to confirm. "Ouch... It’s real."

"Hahaha, thanks to the god... no... no, thank the red slime," another farmer said, laughing crazily but with hope in his eyes.

"Haha... I am not dreaming," another farmer confirmed to himself.

"You... drop those crystals... they’re mine..." A farmer with a skinny body but crazy eyes yelled, picking a dagger hidden in his clothes.

"Old man... do you want that cute red slime to kill you?" a six-year-old kid in ragged clothes said, glancing at the crazy farmer with no fear in her eyes.

She just got out of her dwelling despite her mother’s warning, just to get one look at the crimson slime.

"No... no... he’s not coming back..." The farmer shouted for courage, but his hands trembled, showing his fear.

A red slime clicked his tongue. "Pathetic."

Wob!—Slime#47 jumped from a roof in front of the crazy farmer who held the dagger and cast the spell, "Fireball!"

A red magic circle rune flared on his tiny palm as a basketball-sized flame sphere manifested in the world, and Whoosh!—rushed towards the crazy farmer.

End of Chapter.
