CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50—DUEL

Chapter 50—Duel

Little Slime, who was flung into the air, yelled, "Boss Slime, save me!"

"Slimes, hold on to each other," Slime#47 ordered while smashing his fist into the silver claw.

Boom!

Reacting to his words, each slime held onto another slime with their tiny palms.

Mama Slime Wob!—latched onto a random cow and cast, "Earth Shield."

A brown magic rune flashed on the ground, and a wall made of rocks rose up at the end.

The rock wall shot up ten meters, stopping most slimes—but a few were already too high.

"Ahhh!" Mama Slime poured all her mana into the spell, making the wall grow up to twenty meters.

Crack! Crack!

The ground cracked as the rock wall grew higher from it.

Thud!

Slimes bounced against the rocks and fell to the ground—Thud!

But some slimes had flown away before the wall grew!

"Mana Chain," Elder Slime, who held on to a random bull, cast the spell. A transparent blue magic rune flashed in his tiny palms, and from it, chains made of light blue colour manifested in his hands.

Mama Slime fainted with a tiny relieved smile when Elder Slime took over. She was held by Bull#1, who rushed over.

He aimed at a nearby tree and threw the chain; it spun around the tree and tightened.

Then he threw the other end of the chain at the slimes. The chain tied them up by rotating around them, binding many slimes together, but that was enough as they all held onto each other in mid-air.

The mana chain could bend to Elder Slime’s will.

As it tied up all the slimes, even Little Slime shouted, "Thanks..."

Then Elder Slime handed over the mana chain to Bull#1, who declared by biting on it, "Don’t worry, I will make sure they are safe for my lord."

Elder Slime nodded as his vision darkened.

He’d used too much mana to make the chains longer.

He fell as Bull#1 held on to him as well.

Cow#1 glanced at Bull#1, who held two slimes by his paws while biting onto chains, which held many slimes on the other end.

She wanted to laugh but held back.

Claw and fist clashed again.

Boom!

The shockwaves spread, but this time, no slimes were swept away. Slimes couldn’t get flung into the air due to the rock shield nearby—Thud!—they would instead hit the rocks.

If rocks were a little farther, they might have been hurled into the air by the aftermath.

And the rest of the slimes tightly held on to each other and were supported by mana chains from the end.

’Damn...’ Slime#47, who witnessed all of this, was furious. He wanted to help, but couldn’t as he was held back by the crocodile.

Bang!

They slid back hard as fist and claw smashed together.

Their sliding made marks on the rocky ground, breaking small rocks in the middle.

"Fireball," Slime#47 cast the spell as the aqua crocodile responded, "Waterball."

A basketball-sized, flame sphere and the water sphere collided in mid-air.

Boom!

They cancelled each other out as smoke gushed out.

"Fire Chain," Slime#47 muttered, slipping a second spell in the smoke. Chains made of fire manifested in his hands as the red fire magic rune disappeared.

Whoosh!

He threw them at the crocodile, and whoosh!—they bound him tightly by wrapping around him multiple times. Even the crocodile’s mouth was bound.

"Ahhh!" Crocodile roared, pouring all his aura into his boost skill to break free from the chains.

Whoosh!—While he tried to break free, Young Slime flashed in front of him and, "Acid Fist!"

Boom!

Slime#47 slammed his grey fist into the crocodile’s head.

He hammered the crocodile’s skull again and again until red blood streamed down its snout.

"Ahhh!" The crocodile roared as his aura flared, and crack!—he finally broke free from the chains.

But it was at this moment, "It’s time...Firebody, blue flames," Slime#47 finally used his most powerful skills.

Gzz!

His body instantly turned into burning blue flames. He whoosh!—swept through the upper section of the crocodile’s body.

"Ah... Ah," he turned back to his normal form as he took a deep breath.

He turned back to glance and witnessed the crocodile’s upper body scorched hot with steam rising from the dead body. It—Thud!—fell to the ground.

[ Ding! You have killed the Aqua Crocodile! ]

"This fight was tougher... way tougher than against the slime farm owner," he muttered tiredly. He wanted to rest.

But he couldn’t, as he had to make sure no other demon appeared.

He was lucky the crocodile wasn’t able to react to his powerful skill combo. If not, he’d be dead instead of it. Even Waterball could have dealt much more damage.

’Luck like this won’t always be on my side... This combo is also why I could win against that retired adventurer,’ he mused, feeling powerless. He had to get stronger without relying on that skill duo.

He drifted off to sleep at the end despite not wanting to.

-----

After a few hours, he woke up with blurry vision due to sleep, which cleared in a few seconds.

"Child, are you fine?" Mama Slime asked, checking him.

"I’m fine. Are you all alright?" he asked, glancing all around.

Elder Slime, Mama Slime, Little Slime, Bull#1, and Cow#1 stood in front of him.

The slimes were bouncing and playing with each other.

While the cattle were resting under the shade of trees.

"Good. Drink some water and eat up," Elder Slime said, pointing to the pond.

"Boss! You were so awesome—one day I’ll fight like that too! And help you in fights," Little Slime said cheerfully. He was also worried about young slime, which made him decide to train hard.

Wob!—Then he bounced to the dead body of the crocodile

Thud! Thud!—he punched the corpse and yelped, "Ow—ow—hurts!" His palm turned red due to pain.

After all, the crocodile was a Tier 2 being. Its body was far stronger than hard rocks.

"Hahaha," everyone laughed. The little guy’s actions reduced the tension.

Even Cow#1 felt relieved.

"We move soon," Young Slime said, as he noticed they’d been waiting on him.

They’d done their business; only he remained. They didn’t wake him up; instead waited for him to get up as they wanted him to rest fully.

They also stored water in the wooden drums, which cattle carried. They brought them from vegetable farms.

Wob!—He bounced to the pool and leapt into it as his body absorbed water on its own.

A few moments later, he bounced on a few leaves and his body devoured them.

He then felt full as he said, "Let’s go..."

Everyone nodded.

Elder slime spread out the map and pointed, "We have to...."
