Chapter 74 - 62 Crushing and Death God Torpedo
CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 62 CRUSHING AND DEATH GOD TORPEDO
Chen Ming quickly surveyed the starships about to engage in conflict with his own.
There were five ships in total, one of which was a standard civilian vessel with no specific model.
Among the other four, there were two Conquest Levels, one Sentinel Level, and one Hellhound Level Destroyer.
This configuration looks familiar; is it a trading convoy?
Just as the thought crossed Chen Ming’s mind, he saw the two Conquest Levels suddenly change course, targeting his Iron Ore No.
The weapons on their hulls were also shifting direction, about to lock onto Chen Ming’s dazzlingly white Iron Ore No.
Although the Hellhound Level was slightly lagging behind, its trajectory was clearly converging on the Iron Ore No., evidently planning to coordinate with the two Conquests to trap Iron Ore No. in a pincer attack.
The Sentinel Level, while not engaging, leveraged its mobility advantage from its lighter armor to quickly close in on the Dusk Spaceship Destroyer.
"They’re indeed working together."
Chen Ming muttered to himself, his heartbeat slightly quickening.
Yet he continued to calmly ponder how to seize the Dusk Spaceship from the four coordinated crafts in such a situation.
The other civilian ship had already sensed that something was amiss and wisely withdrew from the contest.
However, the word ’retreat’ never crossed Chen Ming’s mind.
He already had one successful experience against three ships, so this time the outcome would undoubtedly be the same as before.
Even without the aid of an asteroid belt, Chen Ming relied on his ship alone to utterly crush them.
It was at this moment a communication request was sent over.
Knowing who sent it, Chen Ming promptly ignored it.
The two Electromagnetic Spears on Iron Ore No.’s port and starboard sides had already locked onto the Conquest Level daring to block his path ahead.
After a muffled thud from the Electromagnetic Spear, the Conquest Level on Chen Ming’s left suddenly exploded like fireworks.
The Electromagnetic Spear struck very fortunately right at the storage engine’s fuel compartment.
Spaceship armor that wasn’t specially reinforced naturally couldn’t withstand the numerous modifications Chen Ming had made, along with the Armor-Piercing Electromagnetic Bullet of the Electromagnetic Spear’s attack.
The other Conquest Level was visibly panicking, opening fire on the Iron Ore No. from well outside their maximum range.
At this range, both projectile speed and accuracy of civilian weapons were abysmal, and none of the Conquest Level’s bullets hit Iron Ore No.
For Chen Ming, after a six-second reloading time,
the second round of Electromagnetic Spear shots, two Armor-Piercing Electromagnetic Bullets, were fired. Although they couldn’t directly hit this Conquest Level’s engine due to a blind spot, they still dismantled its two weapons.
With two-thirds of its firepower gone, the Conquest Level was no longer a threat to Chen Ming.
And just now, it barely entered its own effective firing range.
The Conquest Level seemed to be making a last-ditch effort, firing its only remaining 30mm machine gun at Iron Ore No. from its final firing point.
Then the people on the Conquest Level witnessed a scene that filled them with despair.
Since the Conquest Level and Chen Ming’s Iron Ore No. were nearly head-on in their clash, nearly all bullets from the Conquest Level hit.
However, on Iron Ore No.’s evidently specially reinforced armor, all the bullets could at best leave a dent, unable to penetrate Iron Ore No.’s armor.
It was too late for the Conquest Level to try and disengage now.
With the Electromagnetic Spear reloaded, Chen Ming’s two Armor-Piercing Electromagnetic Bullets disabled its final weapon, and the engine was also punctured, catching fire.
The Conquest Level was rendered completely combat ineffective.
Ignoring the Hellhound trailing behind him, Chen Ming flew straight toward the Dusk Spaceship Destroyer.
Simultaneously, he continued to control the Electromagnetic Spears to lock onto the paralyzed Conquest Level’s engine.
After three rounds of firing, the second Conquest Level met the same fate as its companion.
At this point, the Hellhound Level dared not continue pursuit.
The Sentinel Level in front seemed to hesitate as well.
But in the next moment, Chen Ming suddenly noticed a missile with a black-red exhaust appearing from the right front of the Sentinel Level, at the missile mounting point.
Flying straight toward the Dusk Spaceship Destroyer, which could not perform any evasive maneuvers.
Chen Ming’s expression changed abruptly.
Because the missile with the black-red exhaust was a hallmark characteristic of a terrifying weapon that gained considerable notoriety thirty years ago.
Death God Torpedo.
Its name was rather straightforward, and unlike many missiles, it lacked its own guidance system. The trajectory upon launch was precisely as it remained throughout.
Moreover, no major weapon manufacturing company endorsed it, and no designer admitted to its creation.
Yet, such a seemingly low-tech missile with no combat value was widespread thirty years ago.
The reason lay in the Antimatter-Catalyzed Nuclear Warhead carried by the Death God Torpedo, capable of instantaneous destructive power almost equivalent to that of large-scale weaponry.
Furthermore, during the period when the Death God Torpedo first emerged, a significant event occurred.
A military Main Ship, when confronted by a group of pirates,
perhaps out of arrogance, or perhaps due to malfunction, did not activate its shield, and its point-defense weapons just happened to miss four Death God Torpedoes launched by the pirates.
As a result, this Main Ship was sunk.
This military scandal spread throughout the entire Human Empire thirty years ago, cementing the terrifying reputation of the Death God Torpedo.
