Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station
Chapter 90 - 67: Raid Plan
CHAPTER 90: CHAPTER 67: RAID PLAN
Chen Ming was stunned for several seconds upon hearing the target location announced by Gamma AI.
His mind was full of thoughts about what exactly in the star system where Rimu Star is located draws the attention of the military, Dusk, and even the Sinda Corporation.
However, Chen Ming quickly realized that he apparently didn’t need to think about it himself.
"Gamma, what is your mission plan this time? Why attack the Pirate Space Station first and then transition to another place? What’s in the RM-2 star system?"
Gamma AI responded immediately as before; "I’m not sure because all missions are notified in phases."
"The first phase of the mission was to attack the Pirate Space Station, which I did not participate in."
"The second phase of the mission, which is this one, is to launch another attack on the Pirate Space Station."
"The third phase of the mission will be announced only after the completion of the second phase of the attack and the transition to the RM-2 star system."
"So up to now, I’m not sure what will be required of me in the next phase of the mission."
"And I’m merely completing the mission without being aware of its purpose."
"So I can’t answer your question precisely."
Chen Ming shook his head somewhat regretfully.
If even Gamma AI, as an entity of Dusk, couldn’t provide an answer, then he could only wait for the transition to begin.
Chen Ming brought all the images captured by the high-precision cameras of the Refraction Class right before his eyes.
Soon, the environment around the Refraction Class began to change.
Although the hull did not move, the starry sky that Chen Ming could see suddenly stretched out, like flowing light constantly flying to the rear of the Refraction Class.
This bizarre spectacle lasted for about ten seconds.
The starry sky returned to its original state.
The transition was over.
The Dusk Fleet arrived at a location still some distance away from the RM-2 star system, not directly transitioning into the system itself.
Chen Ming took this opportunity to carefully observe the star system where Rimu Star is located.
In this star system, besides Rimu Star, there were three other planets revolving around the star.
The four planets from the inner to the outer part of the star system were: a high-temperature rocky planet, Rimu Star, an ordinary barren planet,
and a gas giant with rings, similar to Rimu Star.
If neither the sensors of Chen Ming’s Iron Ore No. nor those of the Refraction Class were faulty, then near the orbit of the gas giant revolving around the star, there was currently a large fleet engaged in battle.
One of the battling sides was definitely Dusk.
And as for the other side, Chen Ming had a guess about who it might be.
Several seconds after the transition ended.
The orders from the Dusk Cruiser suddenly arrived at the Refraction Class.
The orders were not to directly join the battle, but instead to give all Dusk ships that had just withdrawn from the skirmish with the Pirate Space Station an hour’s rest period.
Meanwhile, the repair ships responsible for logistical maintenance started their work.
Shortly after, the second message was also sent over.
It was the requirements for the mission to be executed after the rest period, along with some explanations related to the mission.
The mission requirements were very simple and not as Chen Ming expected, to join the battle and assist Dusk in attacking the other side.
Instead, it was to take advantage of the time they were engaged in battle and directly raid a small human military outpost located on the orbit of the gas giant.
"There’s actually an outpost here?"
Chen Ming was now extremely puzzled, completely unable to understand why the military clearly had a small outpost within the star system, yet it previously went entirely unnoticed by him?
It’s normal if the sensors of Iron Ore No. couldn’t detect a small military outpost, but it’s definitely abnormal if the military sensors didn’t detect Iron Ore No.
Even if there was a planet blocking the orbital path and even if there were differences in the orbital period that might cause the outpost to be far from Rimu Star.
Yet, Chen Ming had been openly flying between Rimu Star and the Mining Space Station multiple times without being detected, which was simply incredible.
Unless the personnel in that small outpost were also slacking off, not seriously attending to tasks such as scanning and detection.
But this could only barely explain the situation Chen Ming encountered. If things weren’t as he thought, then the problem might be much bigger.
Following such a line of thought, Chen Ming actually somewhat hoped that Dusk would succeed in their action this time.
As long as the outpost was destroyed, the likelihood of his presence being discovered by the military would definitely diminish further, which certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing for him.
As various thoughts continued to swirl in Chen Ming’s mind.
Gamma AI suddenly responded to the question that Chen Ming unwittingly asked, "Yes."
It had clearly read through the lengthy mission information sent by the Cruiser AI faster than Chen Ming and began explaining to him, "This outpost is a small human military outpost used for detecting Sky Steel collection conditions."
Chen Ming was slightly taken aback by what Gamma AI said, asking, "Do you mean there’s a Sky Steel ore vein on the orbit of that gas giant?"
"No, Sky Steel doesn’t exist in veins."
Chen Ming was taken aback again. Though he frequently used Sky Steel as a material, he wasn’t very knowledgeable about the formation of Sky Steel ore.
He only knew that Sky Steel was indeed smelted from ore, and he had done so himself, that’s all.
The Gamma Core seemed to have noticed Chen Ming’s lack of understanding in this area and continued to explain to him, "Sky Steel ore comes from a type of space creature known as the Altrulan Space Eel."
