Space Odyssey: Spectre
Chapter 100 - 100: Cho Think Food
Her father was constantly running around and doing the strangest things for the past month. He still spent time around her and that woman who has a link to him. Big brother Cain and she spend the time not with their father running around the new environment. It was definitely that strange woman''s territory.
Cho, as her father and the linked woman started calling her. Spent her days watching and learning from the humans. They were curious and far more fun than the other creatures that she had encountered.
All they wanted from her was to eat her. That was no fun. But the smaller humans. The children as big brother Cain sometimes called them were the most fun. They like to play a lot. Sometimes they pushed around a ball. Other times they would just sleep in a pile. Or they would just run around, that was her favorite. It was like hunting without the scary part. All of the humans liked her fur. It did not matter if it was the smaller humans or bigger ones. They all liked touching her fur. Which made her decide that touching her fur had to be the best. Even the big scary humans that look like good hunters would pet her when no one was looking. They scared most humans but even they could not resist her fur.
Jace, her father, often forced her to wash after a few days. He would always say mean things like she smelled bad or was looking dirty. He could be the worst. But she really likes how her fur shimmered after being cleaned. But she would never admit that to her father.
Father''s linked female human, Salem as she heard father call her, often did this strange thing where she would temporarily connect with people and even creatures around her. It was a fun game, but it worried her that this linked female human would hurt herself.
Cho did not know how she knew, but she did know that it was dangerous to do that. It was like hunting without sight. It was dangerous since you did not know what to attack and when not to attack. It was even more dangerous than when my father fought the living water fire.
Cho knew about them as well somehow. She knew their water was tasty when you were strong enough to consume it. But Cho was not strong enough, so she should have avoided them. But father was strong and smart enough to kill them. It was a new lesson she learned about hunting. Those tools he used could be used to get an advantage, claws were not everything. But father still could not drink it, it even seemed to hurt him to just touch the living water fire''s life juice.
Father still came out on top, even with the poison and blood. He even came out stronger after a while which is when she knew these humans were not normal. Something was helping them, something she could not sense.
She would have to ask Salem about it. Salem was the only one she could. Her transformation process was not complete so she could not speak. Salem could see her thoughts, but she could tell that Salem was not strong enough yet to understand them. She had not undergone her own transformation yet.
Salem will likely go through the transformation before Cho completes her own. All living beings can go through transformation. But these special humans seem particularly closer to transformation than most creatures.
The scary woman and the funny man were the only ones she saw that had already gone through transformation. Father and the others clearly could not tell the difference. But Cho just knew. Unfortunately they did not seem to be able to sense her mind like Salem could. So she could not turn to them.
Cho would just have to stay near Salem and warn her when she could. Fortunately Salem and her father were not in danger with their link. She watched it happen and could feel that the connection was strong enough but hidden. She did not have to worry about that, hopefully Salem could learn from that link with father.
But enough about her father and his linked female. The human food was far tastier than the special organs that were being grown on the green planet. She did have fun hunting both for and with father but the meals on this metal cocoon were the best.
At first when father cooked his meat she thought it was strange but then she tried it and understood it changed the taste, always making it better. The food that the people in white coats with white hats who always smelled like plants always seemed to get excited when she was there. But she never had to let them pet her fur. It was the strangest thing.
But they always seemed to laugh and get delighted when she was really enjoying what she was eating. She did not understand, but as long as they were happy she was fine with it. She came up with a list of the foods she liked the best. Cain always told her what each dish they were called and Cho made sure to always memorize the names of the dishes.
Lasagna was her third favorite dish. It had that red tasty stuff that always went well with those small bits of meat. Then it had that flat stuff that seemed to absorb some of the red stuff. Finally there was the cheese, a lot of dishes have cheese so she learned the name eventually. It was the best.
Her second favorite dish was something called Shepherd''s Pie. She did not know what a Shepherd or a pie was. But the food dish version is really tasty. It had a lot of meat inside it with all sorts of tasty plant foods. They were all cooked together with this whitish-yellow paste that absorbed some of the juices as well. But the first time she ate it she was in pain because it was so hot it burnt her tongue.
Her by far favorite dish had to be Curry. It could come in so many different styles and tastes. It was like picking a hundred different dishes as your favorite. There was the normal one that could come with something the humans called spiciness. Then there was one with a peanut flavor. Another that tasted like a fruit. Then a bunch of other fruit flavors. Then some that tasted like meats or other types of meats. Then they always came with this white fluffy stuff that absorbed the juices. It was by far the best.
But she did not like the sweet things that the humans really liked. They got really excited about those things. Especially the smaller humans. But it was not something she liked. It was like it was not real food. It did not give her the same satisfaction. The white coats with white hats who smelled like plants seemed a bit sad when they figured it out.
Her favorite place was the cafeteria where they would feed her so she would not have to hunt for food. She was always welcome there. But she would usually only go when it was time to eat. She did not want to get heavy from all the food.
Her second favorite place had to be the room where father and the other humans slept. It always had something for her to do. It also had her comfy bed. It was even better than the thing father made on the green planet. She would lie down and enjoy the feel of the white sheets. It always felt soft as she rested on it. Her bed lay right at the feet of her fathers. She liked it that way, she enjoyed being close to him.
Her third favorite place was that big open area. Where there were plenty of those big metal things going in and out. Jace would only go there when he needed to ride in one of those metal things or when he would play with a metal thing. She would always have enough space to run around and play. Sometimes Cain would come with them and play as well. Even some humans joined in by throwing around objects she would retrieve.
She has really enjoyed playing with the humans. But she wished there were more like big brother Cain who she could play with. Big brother always talked about Solisa and others but Cho could never sense the soul from them. She knew they had them but it was like they were hiding it.
Maybe it was like how Salem could send out a connection to other people. Cho should ask about this when she can actually communicate with fathers and the others. But for now she will sleep. She had just finished spending another day playing. She enjoyed this, she hoped nothing changed that much. She was having enough fun as everything was.
