Nina was annoyed. No, that is not right. She was royally pissed. All they had done after fighting that giant snake was walk after Jace''s plan went into effect. They did not fight hordes of enemies and more strange creatures like she was hoping to do on this mission.

Instead Jace''s plan called for her and her team to go to the central power source and disable the self-destruct feature. Then they came here to this door, ready to do the next part of their plan. To capture this annoying Daedalus.

She walked into the room just in time to hear Jace''s words through a speaker system in the room. "-door in just a moment." The room was a giant library with stacks leading up to the roof. There were only a few lights hanging from the ceiling. Across the room from them as they entered was a figure standing in front of a wall of monitors and computers which were providing the most light into the room.

The figure was standing by the monitors and spun around as Nina suddenly closed the distance in a quick sprint. This Daedalus was mostly made up of metal and gears with its four legs loudly clicking as it spun around. Its torso was made up of organs that were artificially floating in a clear tank of the same blue liquid that they had seen the snake spurt out as well when they killed it. On top of that tank was a neck tube that led to a very clearly human head.

She knows there are abominations but this thing clearly topped anything they had seen or was recorded. But as she pulled her knives out and cut through its spindly legs and arms all she could think about was how pathetic it was.

It did not even react by the time Daedalus'' clear tank body and head were the only thing left with its limbs all detached from its body. Nina stood and looked before glancing at the computer behind her.

"From the noise I can only assume that Nina has finished her part." Jace''s voice came through the speaker. Nina growled in annoyance as she quickly sent a message. A moment later their long range communications were no longer jammed. Jace remotely disabled it and began overtly taking control of the Labyrinth facility.

"Why? How?" Daedalus asked as he was still processing what had happened to him. All he could do was twist his head side to side. His already feeble body had been further disabled and destroyed to the point of immobility by Nina.

"You were so focused on Jace, you neglected to watch the rest of us." Hielo spoke up as she walked up. She was gazing at the various books on the shelves. "This is a very expensive collection. Not to mention rare."

"Ha… yes I suppose it is. Will it be destroyed with the rest of the Labyrinth?" Daedalus asked as his face relaxed and he gazed down at the ground. It seems he has given up completely. Sear?h the novёlF~ire.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"There is no need to worry. We cannot destroy the Labyrinth." Jace answered with a sigh causing Nina to flinch and glance at the monitors before she looked over at Tako and Hielo who were both holding their weapons pointed at Daedalus. "Nina, secure that room and disable the interface system. Then transport him to the hangar."

Nina sighed under her breath. Then she quickly sent a message to the Anvil. A moment later she had a response. "Spectre Nina, this is Captain Hammers. I will send a ship to the hangar to pick up the prisoner. But afterwards you are supposed to go and guard the room that Jace found."

"Guard the room?" Tako asked over their communication channel after the message stopped. "I thought the plan was to blow this place up. What changed?"

Nina shrugged but suddenly darted forward, drawing her knives again.

    TING! DING!

There was a quick clash of metal as a white figure moving quickly suddenly appeared. Nina barely had time to deflect its two attacks which were aimed at beheading Hielo and Tako. They barely even noticed as she quickly moved to protect them.

Then the figure was standing on top of Daedalus'' water tank body. Now that it was still they could see it much more clearly. At the same time both Hielo and Tako finally processed what had just occurred. "Thanks." Hielo told Nina getting a nod in response as Nina had all of her attention focused on the new… person?

This person looked more like a white mannequin that was faceless, but with the impressions and depressions on its head that made it look like it had a face. It had a sleek feminine form that had gold along the edges. Between the edges of the white mannequin plates she could make out gears quickly moving underneath the shell. In one of its hands was a simple white sheath while the other had a simple and straight sword.

The smooth face stared directly at Nina as it stayed still. The room was quiet as the two warriors faced off. Then Daedalus spoke up.

"I see. So this is how I die?" Daedalus was looking up at the mannequin. The mannequin simply nodded without looking down. "Ha… then please make it quick and absolute. I am just ashamed I will not be able to see the result of my lord''s magnificent creation." Daedaulus took in a breath of air and then breathed out. "Thank you."

The mannequin moved a moment later and its blade quickly sliced through the Daedalus. First it went down the middle of both the head and body. Then it sliced several times horizontally. Then the last cuts it made were diagonal.

    CRACK!

The mannequin flinched in surprise as a spider web of cracks emanated from a single point on its blade. The point was the spot that met Nina''s daggers. Nina grinned under her helmet and dashed forward.

There was a quick exchange of blows. Each time the mannequin''s sword met one of Nina''s knives there was a spark. It happened over and over until suddenly the mannequin''s sword shattered into several pieces. Then before Nina could get in close and finish the job the mannequin suddenly dashed up one of the book shelves and then ran along the side of the bookshelf towards the door.

Nina started chasing after the mannequin. But after a moment she stopped as she realized the mannequin was moving far too quickly then she could currently move in the armor she was wearing. As it was, the servos in her armor were showing catastrophic failure. It seems she still does not have full control of her own strength and ended up damaging the new shock trooper infantry armor.

She looked over at the scattered remnants of the sword she destroyed and then grinned while looking at the direction the mannequin left in.

    SPLASH!

Daedalus'' body suddenly fell apart with chunks of flesh, organs, and liquids falling onto the ground. It was like some type of delayed reaction to being cut. That mannequin really would have been a danger if she was not a Spectre.

Nina quickly sent out a message to both Jace and the Anvil. Warning them about the clockwork mannequin she had just encountered. "What the hell was that?" Tako asked in surprise.

"That was… terrifying. I can now see why Jace had one Spectre per team. We might have been dead if it was not for you." Hielo bowed her head in appreciation again then she walked past the strange corpse to the console. "Now I need to disable this console before Jace gets too annoyed."

"Spectre Nina, we just picked up a cloaked ship leaving the asteroid and immediately entering subspace. I apologize we were unable to spot them entering or prevent them from leaving." Captain Hammers apologized with a sigh.

Nina shook her head. "Aw don''t worry you can get them next time. Fortunately those blades of yours managed to destroy that mannequin''s weapons." Hielo complimented as she finished disabling the console.

Nina glanced down at the knives that were in her hands then she held them up to reveal that both of them had a crack in them. Hielo stopped in her tracks and then glanced at the remains of the mannequin''s weapons.

"Well that''s not good." Hielo crouched down and began collecting the remains of the mannequin''s sword. "I suppose this means your new blades just went straight to the top of my to do list." Hielo then thought for a moment. "Well after all the stuff that Jace will pressure me to complete first."

Nina sheathed her weapons and then gave Hielo a double thumbs up. Indicating her agreement.

"So we are done here now. Does that mean…" Tako asked as Nina began walking to the door this time she hunched her shoulders.

"It means we have to go and do a bunch more walking." Hielo confirmed as she jogged after Nina.
