CHAPTER 109: LUCIEN’S BEST FRIEND!

Alistair’s POV

How could someone be so smug!

Lucien dared to tell me that my sister liked him! How dare he!

"Did she tell you that?" I asked, clenching my fist tightly. "And even if she did... How could she like someone like you... I mean, of all people, she likes a man with no expression? Do you even know how to smile?"

Lucien was quiet. I really wanted to crack open his head and see what was going on in his mind.

"I’d never seen you smile since you last broke up... It’s been three years now..." I didn’t know why, but I ended up saying something I shouldn’t have.

I closed my eyes and waited for Lucien to lash out at me. But he stayed calm and took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

"Want one?" He asked me, but I denied it.

"I don’t want this and... What about you? How come you are smoking again?" I snatched the packet from his hand and threw it away. "Dude, I literally pulled you out of hell! Do you know how much I lost because of you?"

Yes, Lucien and I had been friends since the moment we started our schooling, and even now we might have been if he had not laid his eyes on my sister.

I was excited to meet this bastard, and some time in the future, I wanted to introduce him to her as my most beloved person in the world.

But he had taken that chance away from me.

"I... I just can’t help but remember the glimpses of my past these days," he muttered as he didn’t make any effort to take the pack back.

"Oh..." I didn’t know what to say.

This dude literally died because of that girl. He loved her with his heart and soul, but... When she heard that Lucien would leave his family wealth and start his own business, she left him.

What she didn’t know was that he was already an investor and had amassed enough wealth to be considered a billionaire by the age of eighteen.

"I didn’t know she was your sister..." Lucien said. "I mean... It’s not like I didn’t know, but... It’s just happened."

I shot him a glare as I couldn’t understand what he wanted to say. However, being with him for years, I could tell that their feelings were mutual.

"Have you ever heard about room 402?" Lucien asked, turning his head toward me.

"What is it?" I raised my brows in confusion. "Is it your new place to torture your enemies or..." I was still talking when he continued.

"This was where your sister was tortured..."

"Pardon!?" I couldn’t believe what he was saying.

Was he out of his mind or on some kind of drugs?

"Have you finally lost it!?"

"No, I didn’t," Lucien turned toward me and looked directly into my eyes. "Alis," he started in a serious tone.

"Other than you... I never had a friend, and you know that... I had never hid anything from you..." He began, making my heart race with nervous anticipation of what he was about to say.

"Let me ask you something," he glanced at Sera for a split second. "Were you planning to come back later... Maybe 2 years?"

"How do you know that?" My eyes flung open in shock.

Lucien was the second-largest investor of my company, but he wasn’t aware of my schedule.

All he cared about was the result and how much money he’d make.

"Did that bastard jackass tell you that?"

"Sera did!" He replied flatly.

"Excuse me?" I couldn’t help but laugh. "She had not seen me before, didn’t know me, let alone know my schedule."

"Oh..." Lucien looked at the sky and muttered something which I couldn’t understand. "Were you the reason that I met her in the timeline she talked about? But then... Why doesn’t she remember me?"

"Fuck man!!" I couldn’t take it any longer and snapped. "What the hell are you even talking about? If you are going to be like this... then just go away..." I almost yelled at him.

"Say something that makes sense or leave me and my sister fucking alone!"

"Have you talked to Adrian these days?!"

There we went again, he ignored everything I had just said and went on, on his own.

"No!! We didn’t talk much..." Even though I was annoyed, I still decided to reply to him.

"Brother Adrian... He called me to go back home if I wanted to make a good relationship with my sister, or I’d lose the opportunity."

"He did that!?" Lucien’s whole face turned pale as he grabbed my shoulders.

Finally, he had more expression on his face rather than being all cold and mysterious.

"What did he say?" He shook me a little and added. "Tell me... word by word."

I gritted my teeth and pushed him away a little.

I wanted to ignore him and not answer. I enjoyed seeing how desperate he was.

But after all... I was his only friend, just as he had said.

He might have a ton of drinking buddies, but... Well, let’s just get it done and leave soon.

"Brother said that... Sera needs me and I must go back; however, I declined since, as you mentioned... I had to push my two years of schedules and pay many fines, but he insisted. "

"Can you emphasize more, please? Like, how did he insist?"

"He said... This time, I must be with her. He had made sure that she was safe, but he needed more trustworthy people around her. And... He literally offered to pay the penalties of those contracts, but how could I let him do that?"

"I didn’t want to see Sera under such circumstances, so... I used eighty percent of my savings and..."

"You did what!?" Lucien looked at me in shock. "Man! You are crazy for money. I had never seen a money grubber like you and for her... You have become bankrupt?"
