Spoiled By My Brothers: Return of The Lost Heiress
Chapter 120: Sera Ran Away
CHAPTER 120: SERA RAN AWAY
Author’s POV
Lia had taken every possible precaution while getting Sera out of that hell.
The dead CCTV camera turned out to be the only blessing in disguise. No one saw her sneak out, and even if they searched later there would be nothing left for them to trace and without evidence they couldn’t find her.
While she had left her resignation already.
Who the hell would like to work in such a place where ones life wasn’t guaranteed at all!
Emma was already outside as her car was parked a little far from the main gate, engine was still running as she paced back and forth anxiously.
The moment she saw the gate crack open, her eyes darted toward them.
"Sera!" she shouted and dashed toward them the second she saw her friend.
Her footsteps were fast and uneven that she almost tripped when she reached Sera. Her breath stopped as her eyes scanned Sera’s condition. She looked like as if she had been bullied badly or had just escaped dead. Her lips were swollen. Her whole frame was trembling but still trying to hold itself firmly.
Emma froze for a second, her expression shattering.
"How... How could they be so fucking cruel to you," she choked, brushing hair off Sera’s face with shaky hands. "They actually let it go this far again? In the past... you almost died under their watch and if not for Asher—" she broke off, biting her lip hard enough to stop herself from finishing that sentence.
Without another word, she took Sera’s hand and guided her into the car gently, afraid that she might hurt her if she wasn’t careful enough.
Lia followed right after, quietly sitting beside her in the backseat, not even daring to breathe too loud.
Emma slammed the door shut and rushed to the driver’s seat.
She had recently received her driving liscence but she was a good driver.
As she drove the car away from there she decided to inform Asher about everything she had just witnessed when Sera’s weak voice entered her ears.
"Take me to a place where no one can find me!"
Emma’s foot almost slammed the brake, but she held it together, eyes flicking up to the rearview mirror.
"Are you out of your mind!?" she exclaimed in shock. "You think your brothers won’t tear the city apart to find you? And what about your man? He wouldn’t look for you?"
Sera didn’t reply. Her lips pressed into a thin line, eyes staring out of the window. She was mentally and physically exhuasted. She didn’t wish to face anyone at the moment and let them feel pity of guilty toward her.
And as for Lucien, she had approached him every time when she was in the worst condition. Furthermore, he had gone to his family home for a family reunion or whatever.
"You can come to my home then,"
Sera was still in her thoughts when Lia said quietly in a whispered tone. "I... I can hide you there. It’s not big or anything, but..."
"No," Emma cut in sharply. "I’m not taking her anywhere until those wounds are properly treated."
The silence spread in the car.
Emma was supposed to be resting today as it was the weekend. She’d been planning to call Sera later and go through some notes together.
Because every time Sera marked question as important, it ended up on the exam paper. Emma had learned to trust her instincts more than the teacher’s.
But all these things were just an excuse, it’s just that she missed spending time with Seraphina.
Sera hadn’t been living in the dorms lately and had moved into the Lancaster mansion after her brothers had insisted.
Emma had thought it was because her brothers wanted to spend time with her and get close to her.
She had thought that with them beside her, she didn’t have to see Seraphina in such a condition again, but who would have thought that...
The friend she had send back to that home was now...
Emma looked at Sera in the backseat who was half conscious and was barely holding back, she felt something twist deep in her gut.
They said they cared for her and she was their family.
But they still let this happen.
In that moment, Emma made up her mind.
She wasn’t going to let Seraphina go back to that house where those people lived after what they had done to her.
"Lia," Emma said, eyes locked on the road. "Call a number."
She listed the digits in a clear tone. Lia didn’t ask anything she just did what she was told pulling out her phone and dialing with shaky fingers.
"She’s my cousin," Emma muttered. "Tell her we’re coming." She said firmly.
Lia nodded and began speaking into the phone. Her voice was quiet as she as trying to keep herself steady, still holding Seraphina’s blood on her hands.
Emma gritted her teeth and took a sharp U-turn, pushing the accelerator down.
Lia put her cell phone down and turned to look at Seraphina who was already looking at her.
"Lia," Sera said in a low voice which was barely audible. "You... were also burnt right? From that hot water?"
Lia flinched at her question as she had almost forgotten her pain seeing Sera like this. "I..." nothing came out of her mouth. "I am used to this."
"Excuse me?" Emma looked at her through the mirror but she didn’t say anything. "It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it."
"Hide me until the exams," Seraphina pronounced in a hoarse and cracky tone. "I don’t wish to appear in front of anyone looking like this."
It wasn’t that Seraphina was ashamed for being like this, but... She had to stay strong for her revenge.
She was already able to change a lot of things in this life and she could do even more things in the future, but to appear so broken and fight... She didn’t wish to do that!
