CHAPTER 121: I’VE BEEN CAUGHT!

Seraphina’s POV

I had said what I wanted to say. I didn’t wish to appear in front of anyone before I was prepared.

But at the moment, I couldn’t focus on anything since my tolerance of pain was only this much.

In the end, I passed out and woke up on an unfamiliar bed, but this time I didn’t panic because I knew where I must have been.

All this time, whenever I was in trouble, I always ended up in front of Lucien. But today he was not with me, and to be honest, even though I missed him like crazy, I didn’t want him to see me in this condition.

The next time I’d see you, you’d be surprised.

I thought and blinked slowly, adjusting to the soft light filtering through the thin curtains.

Everything on my body hurt. I could smell the ointments and other medicinal smells on my body. I could tell that they have tended my wounds pretty well.

I turned my head slightly and saw a small table near the bed. They really did clean me up.

I was still in my thoughts when a soft knock came at the door. I didn’t answer as no strength was left in my body to do that.

The door opened anyway.

Lia stepped in sneakily as if she was making sure she wasn’t disturbing my sleep.

"I... I brought some soup," she whispered in a small voice. "Emma said you have to eat properly so that you walk soon."

I didn’t respond.

She came closer and placed the tray on the nightstand, then stood awkwardly.

"What time is it?" I looked outside the window through the curtains. It was still daytime. "It seems I didn’t sleep that long."

Lia stayed quiet. Her hands fidgeted with the hem of her sleeves as if she were looking for the right words to reply to him.

She avoided my eyes, but I didn’t stop looking at her.

She finally gave in under my gaze.

"You... have been sleeping for three days."

"Excuse me!?" I exclaimed as my voice came out louder than I intended, and pain flared across my chest like fire. I winced, clutching the edge of the blanket. "What happened to me? How could I sleep this long?"

"You had a fever, Miss," she whispered in a trembling tone. "Your body couldn’t handle the stress... the burns... Water... I mean..." she trailed off and didn’t speak.

"What about water?" I furrowed my brows and asked. "Is there something about water? Or am I prohibited around it because of my injuries?"

"Miss... The water I... brought you to drink was not the one I prepared," Lia said in a low tone.

"What do you mean?" My eyes widened in shock.

"I... I was called back to the Lancaster Mansion," she said in a whispered tone. Her voice was barely audible.

"What is it?" I inquired, inhaling deeply. I’d already slept for so long and wasn’t aware of what had happened these past few days. And Lia was called back there.

Was she troubled, or did my brothers blame her for these things? I hope they didn’t!

"Actually," she began. "Second and Third Young Master came back two hours later after we left the Lancaster mansion."

"They did?" I raised my brow and said. "But why?"

"As long as I heard the chatters... They found out that it must be a setup up so... They decided to return, but you were already gone," Lia informed me in a soft and low tone.

My heart started to race at her words. I was so happy that the pain in my body didn’t bother me that much. I wanted to hear more, and just as I was about to ask Lia to continue, Emma entered the room.

"We won’t tell you anything unless you are done taking the soup," Emma said in a commanding tone.

"Your brother even called me," She said, rolling her eyes. "And if you want to know more, finish the soup."

I tried to roll my eyes too at her, but I couldn’t because the burns and blisters were making it hard for me to do so. "You are taking care of me as if you have done it in the past."

"Really, Sera?" Emma gritted her teeth and walked forth toward me as if she wanted to smack me. "Don’t you remember two months right after you entered the Lancaster mansion, something similar happened to you?"

"What?"

What was she saying? Why didn’t I have such a thing in my memory?

I was still in a daze when Emma was already in front of me with the bowl of soup and shoved a spoonful in my mouth.

"I bet it must have been Melissa who had hurt you and thrown you down the stairs," Emma said with a distorted look on her face as if she was fuming mad.

"How could it be?" I couldn’t understand. If such a thing had happened, why didn’t I know any of this?

"This was not all... The other time, you were in an accident, and if it were not for Asher, you would have been dead already!" She exclaimed, feeding me without missing a single scoop.

"But... But I don’t remember all those things?" I muttered and silently ate.

"Lia... Can you leave us, please?" Emma glanced at Lia and then took out something from the back of her trousers the moment Lia left.

"Care to explain what this is?" She put the diary in front of me and asked with a cold glint in her eyes.

My body froze as my mind stopped. I didn’t know how to react.

Emma had gotten her hands on my diary that I had left at the dorms in a moment of laziness.

"Why am I dead in this story? And what is wrong with you? Why are you being beaten, tossed, and turned around every time?" Emma bombarded me with a lot of questions, but I didn’t have any answers.

I’ve been caught!
