CHAPTER 139: THE BEGINNING OF LUCIEN’S DREAM!

Author’s POV

Even though Seraphina had saved Lucien, his head had slammed against something hard. For a moment, he just stared at her and was stunned. The same girl who had stopped him from jumping... had now thrown herself in front of danger to pull him out of it.

If she hadn’t dashed toward him, the truck would’ve hit him full force. He might have died on the spot.

Lucien wanted to thank her and apologize at the same time, but the pain in his skull was sharp, his vision already fading. The world tilted, and darkness swallowed him before he could speak.

When he woke up two weeks later in the hospital, the ceiling above him felt strange, unfamiliar. His body ached, and his head throbbed with every breath.

A nurse told him where he was, what had happened—or at least what people thought had happened. But in his mind, there was only a gap. Everything after his breakup with Evelny was gone, like someone had cut that part of his life.

Still... in the empty space, there was something that wasn’t leaving his mind.

There was a voice that was soft at first, then breaking into sharpcrying for help and begging him not to die.

He could almost feel a hand holding his, shaking, trying to pull him back.

Lucien shut his eyes, trying to see the face, but there was nothing, only that trembling voice.

It made him uneasy. And for some reason, not knowing who it belonged to felt heavier than the pain in his head.

Since that day, he’d been trying to find the person behind that voice.

But all he found in his investigation was that he’d been attacked that day by the truck that was after him to kill. If it wasn’t for that someone, he wouldn’t be here now.

Days went by, but still nothing came back clearly to his mind. Only bits and pieces that hit him appeared in his dreams when he slept, and then... something he had never seen before.

He saw a lot in his dreams. Her sufferings, her sobs and her pain but he had never seen her face.

Then he met Sera.

Maybe by that time, he’d already pushed that person deep down, but was still searching for her quietly in silence, but after meeting the love of his life, those thoughts faded away.

Even so, sometimes he could still hear that stammering voice when no one was around.

He didn’t know if it was real or just his mind playing tricks. But somehow, he couldn’t ignore it and buried it somewhere deep inside himself.

Because he had a new life now, and he had moved away from the past.

At Present

At present, Emma kept staring at Lucien, her mind racing as she tried to remember. Then, when memories hit her... he was the same man Seraphina had saved, the one who almost died that day, and even she died with him.

Without thinking, she suddenly yelled, drawing everyone’s eyes.

"You! You’re that drunkard who nearly died that day, aren’t you?" Her finger jabbed straight at him, her teeth clenched tight. "Damn it! You really are him... The rude bastard!"

The room went silent. All eyes turned to Lucien. Even he looked at her, surprised by the outburst.

Emma took a breath, her heart pounding. She wasn’t sure if she was angry or scared, but the memories of that day hit her hard.

Lucien’s expression didn’t change much, but there was something colder and sharper in his gaze as he stared back at her.

No one said a word for a moment as tension build up in the room.

Finally, Lucien spoke, his voice low and steady. "Looks like your friend’s got quite the mouth." He said as he looked at Sera with a gentle smile on his face.

Emma didn’t flinch. "Yeah, well, maybe if you weren’t such a jerk, she wouldn’t have had to save your sorry ass. She had to be admitted to the hospital and was kicked out for not having enough money! You bastard, you didn’t even come to look for her even once!"

Sera watched from the side, heart hammering. She didn’t know what to say. She didn’t have those memories, but something was telling her that Emma was not wrong.

Something like this had really happened.

Lucien was trying to brush off Emma’s words, but when he really focused on what she said, he froze. He couldn’t find the words to express what he was feeling.

"Are... you saying that Sera was the one... who saved me that day?" His voice cracked just a little, and everyone noticed.

"Wait, seriously?" Alistair’s eyes went wide, like they were about to pop out. "That girl was Sera? The one you were looking for crazily back then?" He couldn’t hold back and blurted out, "Man, I thought you were some kind of pervert, switching targets every other day. But looks like Sera was the one all along!"

Alistair’s grin stretched ear to ear, like he’d just won some kind of jackpot.

Lucien just stood there, staring, his mind and heart racing at the same time. He didn’t know what to say or feel.

"What the hell are you so excited about?" Asher cut through Alistair’s excitement as he rolled his eyes.

He reached out, grabbed Sera’s hand, and didn’t wait for an answer. "You guys can keep talking shit all you want. I’m taking my sister home."

With that, he lifted Seraphina into his arms in a slow, steady princess carry.

Without looking back, he walked out of the room... and out of the house.

"Hey!" Alistair shouted after them, but Asher didn’t slow down.

Alistair glanced between Sera and Lucien, then made up his mind. At a time like this, he’d stay with Lucien.

He’d seen the guy at his worst, all alone and broken.

And might Lucien need someone there!

Sera had Asher for now, but Lucien was all alone and he didn’t want to leave him!
