SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 232: You again?
CHAPTER 232: YOU AGAIN?
Damon’s silhouette vanished from one spot and reappeared in another with each blink, every movement followed by an eruption of crimson and a scream cut short. He became the storm within the battlefield, a nightmare stitched from shadows, blood and blood, too fast for the eye.
His daggers and his spear curved through the air like predators with a will of their own, finding throats, hearts, spines. Each kill fed him more power.
Holy champions tried to rally. They called for reinforcements, summoned guardians, even chanted invocation circles mid-battle to halt his advance. But it was like throwing feathers into a hurricane.
Damon dashed through one such circle mid-chant, kicking the high priest so hard the man’s spine folded like parchment. A second later, the holy circle shattered into light and faded.
Ding! [Your Notoriety has increased by 100 ]
Ding! [You have acquired Divine Faith Robes (Epic)]
Ding! [Blood extraction successful]
Ding! [You have acquired the skill Blessed Chains]
Surprisingly, the skills he was gaining from NPCs were a lot more diverse and rare when compared to the skills he had gained from the players so far. With each kill, Damon was becoming stronger and stronger, a lot more than he had anticipated.
At first, he did not notice, but soon it became clear that his blood extraction success rate had jumped to a scary 70% from the 50% or 40% it was before. For every ten kills, he was gaining stats or skills for 7 or more kills. Sometimes he was even gaining more than one benefit like a stat point and skill combined. His power was increasing at a frightening pace.
These NPCs also gave experience points which was a sweet added bonus. He was now only a little shy of reaching the level 50 milestone.
However, these were still small rewards. Damon knew he had to keep his eye on the big prize especially now that he knew how overpowered the super ten guilds really were. If he had to compete on their level, then he needed a lot more than what he currently had.
He needed absolute power!
After culling down the numbers a little, Damon summoned Elina the snake to take care of the rest. She could deal with the weaklings and reduce the overall numbers in the purification raid. It was time for him now to join the big league.
Besides the snake, Damon’s shadow clone was also pulling in tremendous numbers. Between all the kills loot was piling up on the battlefield. The dozen vampire players watched this sight with greed in their eyes and could not hold back any longer. After all, they had also received huge buffs and wanted to try out their strength and newfound power.
Five of them finally slipped into the battlefield to loot and plunder all the fallen items. However, the moment they touched the drops, a blood spear struck them and insta killed them.
"Did you really think I will forget all the loot?" Damon sneered as he quickly took care of the mosquitoes.
Naturally, he had laid this trap because he would rather prefer all these bitches to be dead than interfere with his future plans or somehow mess with the raid success. Better to be cautious and take care of the pests while he had the chance.
Damon took one more look at the battlefield. The battlefield was still mostly white and golden in color but crimson was slowly overtaking.
The NPCs had become drunk on their newfound strength. Vampires surged across the map like a tide of crimson retribution and were pushing back the overwhelming first wave of the purification raid.
It was not just the holy and divine NPCs. A lot of players had also joined the raid in order to reap the rewards of such a large-scale event, but now they were all regretting their decisions as the battle completely turned.
Many of the players were getting insta killed just from the crossfire. The scale of the battle was completely beyond them and normal players could not even get a foothold inside the city to do some small damage here and there. The war was completely brutal.
Damon observed the battlefield and watched the numbers go down drastically with every second. But this was just the beginning. If he was not wrong, then soon the first wave should end and the second wave should start. This was where the real trouble began.
He took one more look and saw pockets of spots where the vampires were getting pushed back because of the usage of some special items or short-term buffs, particularly the weaker ones and he quickly headed over there to take care of the anomalies.
Surprisingly, one of the anomalies was none other than Magicaa, the mage he had faced before.
Damon’s grin widened as he decided to pay his fellow high-tier player a visit. The last time around this guy gave him a unique skill. Maybe this time he would give something even better.
Magicaa’s entire body was covered in flames as he hurled one powerful attack after another at one of the vampire NPCs, slowly and steadily bringing the health down. His face was beaming with joy as he was so close to finishing off a key player in the battle.
Blood God’s arrival here had been less than ideal but it should be impossible for one man to change the course of the battle. He gritted his teeth and sent out another attack confidently. With his talent, he would undo whatever crap Blood God had pulled. He was sure of it.
However, before that attack could land on the target, a crimson lance easily blocked and scattered the attack. Shadows congealed in front of Magicaa making his face turn ashen.
Fuck! His heart dropped. Somehow even in the midst of this chaos, this bastard had sniffed him out and locked on like a damn bloodhound.
Magicaa instinctively began casting a blink spell to retreat, but it was already too late. A second blood lance tore through the space beside him, disrupting the flow of mana and canceling his spell mid-cast.
