CHAPTER 190: PREY ARRIVES?

Leon had reached the front entrance of the Academy. He knew the high-rise circular structure was where he was supposed to go, and he could see many guards checking some passes from the people to let them inside.

He didn’t bother to try anything; his eyes scanned the path in front, gazing between the people. His wind element formed around him, and with just a burst of precise movement, his figure vanished and passed through the front gate.

Fwoosh

If they noticed me, I’d die of embarrassment more than danger.

The guards, despite being Awakeners themselves, were clueless as to what had just happened.

He followed the people through the hallways and finally came upon the ground floor of a circular arena where, in the center, he could see two men about to fight—one with a gauntlet in his hand, the other with a spear.

The wooden benches shuddered with every stomp of the crowd, the vibrations climbing up through his boots as if the arena itself was alive.

Yaaaaay!

Let’s goooo!

Fighttt!!! Kill himmm!!!

The cheers erupted in his ears, yet his primary focus was on trying to locate Seraphine. Yep, nothing says civilization like screaming for blood.

It didn’t take him long to do so with his sharp senses while walking around the arena. His gaze lingered for a moment on another seat on the topmost floor, but then moved back to Seraphine.

There you are...

He moved to a place just right below her. If you knew what I went through, you’d never let me out of your sight again.

And then he teleported himself directly next to her.

For a moment, Seraphine was shocked, and the knights around her quickly took out their weapons at his sudden appearance. But seeing who it was, they promptly sheathed their weapons and respectfully bowed.

"Young Master Leon!!"

The knights were also curious about where the young master had gone. Seeing him appear out of nowhere, their worry was gone—especially after what their lady had done earlier.

Seraphine was too shocked for a moment, not moving even an inch for a while.

After seeing the ominous clouds twice, which were terrifying to an entirely different level, even if she didn’t want to, some doubts had started to appear in her mind. She couldn’t even focus on the festival as her mind was in chaos the entire time.

However, she trusted him and didn’t try to enter the dimensional realm like a fool. If there was something he couldn’t handle, she was sure she would fail as well. More than that, he had promised he would come back safe, which kept her from acting on her own.

Others also quickly noticed the disturbance around the Lightning Commander of the West. They were curious about who the young man next to her was. No one, except Auraiel, found the young man a bit strange.

The fact that he had suddenly appeared out of nowhere made her suspicious and reminded her of a certain someone she had seen inside the castle. However, she couldn’t be sure, as this white-haired young man didn’t give off the powerful aura she had detected from the one who had sneaked inside.

She waved it off, thinking she might have been focusing too much on her surroundings. Her eyes then locked onto a girl on the second floor, sitting beside a middle-aged man and woman.

Leon looked directly into her violet eyes. Seraphine came out of her state of shock, quickly stood from her seat, and hugged him tightly.

He reciprocated her hug, wrapping his hands around her in a protective manner. Warm. Soft. Alive. Everything I thought I’d never feel again.

It had been so long for him, through so much torture and hardship, nearly dying again and again. This hug was when he felt the most peaceful and relaxed.

He felt the glares and killing intent from a few people, which he chose to ignore for now but took note of in his memory. Let them glare. She’s mine.

He continued embracing her warm, soft body, his hand caressing her back gently as he felt her raging heartbeat and the constant shudder from her body. He knew he had worried her a lot this time, especially when she might have seen the massive thunderclouds in the sky of Humsburg today.

After the hug, Leon looked at her beautiful face, which carried a look of relief and a slight smile etched onto it.

"Are you alright now?"

Seeing her nod meekly, Leon found her cute. He felt it should be him asking for attention, but he still loved the way she responded.

There was an empty seat right next to the one she had stood from, but ignoring it, he comfortably sat on the one still warm from her body heat. He pulled her by her waist and made her sit on his lap, his hand comfortably placed around her stomach, and his head resting on her shoulder.

Seraphine, without caring about public decorum or her position as a commander of a kingdom whose king was probably sitting not too far away, ignored everything and just sat comfortably on his lap, her body sticking close to him.

She asked no questions, even if she had many, as right now she just lay there in his embrace. Her worried heart needed this.

The knights were aware of their commander’s new behavior. Yet, they still felt uneasy about the fact that this was their commander, known for being fierce and ruthless.

Right now, she could be compared to a loving cat, showing extreme affection to the one she cares for.

It was a pleasant change, but one that would take more time for them to get used to.

Leon, while enjoying the warmth of Seraphine—his lovely wife—could also see how the man with the gauntlet had defeated the one with the spear. It was a fierce battle between the two, but to him, it looked like toddlers fighting. Is this a fight or a daycare brawl?

One had fire affinity, and the other had earth affinity. There was nothing much for him to see right now; he wanted to see some rare or extraordinary element, something he had never seen before.

But for now, it wasn’t exciting.

Peace never lasts long... not for someone like me.

There you are. I was waiting for you to show up. The prey has already been slaughtered.

Just as these thoughts ended, a voice full of maliciousness broke the peaceful silence between them.

"Commander Seraphine, don’t you think you are tarnishing the name of your kingdom by acting in such a way in public?"

Leon felt the warmth of Seraphine fade under the sudden weight of silence.
