Chapter 140: Faith is a cruel thing.

" It’s fine darling." Melinda said before hugging her husband tightly. " I’m a bit tired from the ride over here, so I’ll just get some rest, please do try to entertain lady Victoria. I think it would be a shame to turn her down after she’s sought you out herself." Melinda said after letting go of her husband.

Su Ping was silent for a moment, he still tried understanding what Melinda’s aim was but in the end he decided to trust her.

" Fine then." Su Ping said before turning towards the fair maiden.

" If you don’t mind being accompanied by my humble self, then I’m willing to entertain you for a stroll."

" How delightful." Victoria smiled, her expression brightening a bit. " Please follow me." She said before taking the lead." Su Ping stepped out the door and closed it.

A dark tendril slipped below his feet the next moment, it went underneath the door before wrapping tightly round the door handle from the inside like multiple tentacles before detaching from Su Ping.

Only after that did Su Ping follow after the beautiful heiress.

Victoria and Su Ping walked silently through the mansions halls before arriving outside where a floral path emerged before them.

" Is something the matter sir..." Victoria said when she noticed that Su Ping’s gait seemed stiff, her voice trailing off at the end. " Forgive me, It seems I’m not even aware of your name."

" Care to tell me, how should I refer to you." Victoria turned around, her hands clasped behind her back as she walked backwards, her cheerful gaze trained on Su Ping.

" Calling me Su should suffice, my lady." Su Ping said.

" Su... What an interesting name, could it be that your not from this continent, Sir Su." Victoria’s lips curved upwards ever so slightly.

’ Not from this continent, is she implying that she knows I’m a player or could she have seen through my veil?....’ Su Ping almost froze, beneath his dark veil, his eyes squinted sharply. He instantly raised his guard.

" My...my, Sir Su, there’s no reason to be alarmed. I meant no harm." Victoria’s fair hand covered her lips as she giggled, even if he tried to hide it, she had seen through his reaction just then.

" I have no malice towards those from beyond this continent, after all, my mother herself isn’t from this land." Victoria’s words made Su Ping’s mind ponder in silence, he didn’t know whether he was just being paranoid or not but he still didn’t want to be on the receiving end in this situation.

’ If I keep acting nervous, she might even use that against me. I don’t know what her aim is for dragging me out here but I should at least try to hide my cards less I expose something I shouldn’t.’

" Your mother is from a different continent?" Su Ping acted surprised. " My lady, isn’t it wrong to reveal such information to an outsider like myself."

" There’s no need to be alarmed, it’s not like my father bothered to keep it a secret, I’m sure you must’ve been curious why my younger sister’s name differs from those of people you’ve meet within the city. It’s because my father allowed my mother to name her after her own people."

" I see, well then, I must thank my lady for sharing such information with me, no matter how trivial it may seem." Su Ping replied in a thankful tone.

" You know you really do have a way with words Sir Su." Victoria smile turned amused, to Su Ping’s surprise, she suddenly placed her finger on his chest. " It’s no wonder my sister seems rather fond of you." She giggled before turning around and continuing her gait.

’ That wench is fond of me?’ Su Ping’s brows creased beneath his veil, seemingly irritated by that remark. It couldn’t be helped because it was that same so called fondness that led her to cause so much carnage during their travels.

Of course Su Ping misunderstood what Victoria meant but she herself couldn’t clarify because she wasn’t aware of how Su Ping had taken her words.

Su Ping easily caught up to Victoria, walking side by side with her yet, at one point, he suddenly frowned and gazed in a random direction.

’ They’re tailing us?’

Su Ping heightened instincts easily discovered the gazes of multiple hidden individuals trained on him.

’ By my count, they’re about 10 of them and they’re all at Lvl 3 common tier.’

Su Pings thoughts were filled with amazement, to think they had actually sent out this many powerful individuals just to monitor him. But when he glanced at the beauty beside him, he couldn’t but think that they were simply here to watch over the heiress.

" You’ve finally noticed." Victoria turned towards him with an apologetic smile. " I’m sorry but they were rather insistent."

" I hope you don’t mind." Victoria said as she clasped his hands in her’s.

" No... It’s ok. I’m sure they mean well." Su Ping replied yet his eyes glowed coldly beneath his straw hat. The instant Victoria held his hand in her’s, Su Ping felt a foreign magical power invade his body. Fortunately his strength was far greater and he wasn’t affected by it.

" My lady, your ear rings are rather stunning." Su Pings voice turned softer, his fingers gently pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear before touching her ear ring, his fingers brushing against her ear lobe.

Victoria almost couldn’t contain her excitement when she realized the spell had worked. " What, do you like them. I bought them just this week from a jewelry shop, and these as well. Don’t you think they look great on me." Victoria smiled while showing off her accessories.

She saw Su Ping nod in agreement before Suddenly lifting her chin slightly, Victoria felt a strange feeling overwhelm her when she saw a pair of entrancing eyes peak out from within the dark veil on his face.

" My lady, your jewelry are exquisite but they could never compare to your stunning beauty." Victoria didn’t know why but she felt her heart skip a beat from his words, her breathing soon became rougher before growing slightly haggard, her cheeks turning rosy.

" My l-lady a..re you ok?" Victoria suddenly felt as if the world around her was beginning to spin, Su Ping’s words suddenly sounded fractured to her.

’ What’s wrong with me... My body, it feels so hot.’ Victoria’s breath soon turned to white vapour. She felt as her body became hotter and hotter, her strength slowly leaving her body yet her eyes were glued to the man Infront of her.

’ Is it because of him... Did i become like this because he finally thought of me as a woman.’ Victoria’s mind was slowly becoming muddled, All she could think of was the man Infront of her and how her body wanted him.

" T-Ta-ke m-me..." Victoria managed to force out through her lip’s.

" My lady I don’t understand. You wish for me to take you were?’ Su Ping asked, his voice sounding confused.

" Take me to my chambers." Victoria actively leaned on the man Infront of her, her hands clothing to his clothes as if they were a life line.

" But my lady, I have no idea where that is, You seem rather unwell, why don’t I find a maid to take you." Su Ping said, his voice sounding worried. He turned to leave but couldn’t because Victoria was holding onto him tightly.

" No... don’t leave, I want you to take me." She said, her voice sounding more and more strange. " It’s ok, I’ll lead the way... Just take me there."

Su Ping was silent for a moment before nodding, he lifted her into his arm’s before she began leading the way, due to her dizzy state, the journey was a bit problematic but eventually, Su Ping reached Victoria’s room.
