Chapter 152 Under Attack [Part 2]
CHAPTER 152: CHAPTER 152 UNDER ATTACK [PART 2]
There were more than 100 mages on the wall concentrated at that spot alone, there were more stationed on different parts of the wall since it covered the entire kingdom.
Loud screeches echoed across the capital from the sky.
The barrier had been shattered and now, the swarm was coming.
The barrier corps were busy restoring the barrier, but there was no time as the demons charged towards the capital, and this time something was different.
Over a hundred flying demons rushed forward, black shapes gliding fast through the clouds. Some looked like twisted birds, others like giant bats with glowing red eyes. Their shadows covered the rooftops below.
On the city walls, the mages were already in position.
"Here they come!" one of them shouted.
Dozens of mages began casting spells. Bright lights sparked in the sky — fireballs, lightning bolts, bursts of wind — all aimed at the demons.
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*
Spells exploded, lighting the air, some hitting their targets and burning demons out of the sky. But there were too many. For every one that fell, three more flew past.
They were faster and suddenly smarter as they avoided the mages flying into the capital.
"We can’t let them inside the capital!" another mage yelled.
Some demons twisted mid-air and dived low, flying straight at the mages. The front line panicked. A few backed away.
One of the mages was grabbed and pulled into the sky, screaming.
More spells were fired, but the sky was chaos now — demons dodging, diving, attacking from different angles.
Even as spells rained down, the demons kept coming.
The capital wasn’t safe anymore, the people were all inside their houses hiding since the first alarm but destroying houses was nothing for demons.
But then, in an instant everything changed.
*BOOM!*
A massive burst of flame shot across the sky like a wave. It was so bright that it lit up the whole capital momentarily.
The fire roared, sweeping through the sky, and in seconds—all the demons that made it through were gone.
Burned to ash.
Even the demons on the wall saw the flames before they were hit by black spears.
Everyone turned to look.
Evelyn landed on the city walls.
She walked forward, cloak fluttering, her hands still glowing with red fire. Her eyes were sharp, focused, like she hadn’t even tried yet but her face was twisted like she was angry.
Beside her was Victoria.
She didn’t say a word. Just scanned the sky calmly, a smirk on her face.
The mood shifted. The mages on the wall straightened up. Hope returned to their eyes, and even the mage who was picked up from the wall was rescued.
The mages on the wall now had backup, real backup.
"These are just demons. How did they break the barrier?" Evelyn asked one of the mages on the wall.
"One of the demons was different from the other and shot some kind of arcane spell at the barrier"
"Arcane spell, a demon using an arcane spell? Was it a demon general, where is the demon now?" Victoria asked as she looked at the sky.
More demons were pouring in, but they were all normal demons. Victoria closed her eyes for a second and opened them back up.
"It’s gone, was this a test? Did demons actually come to test our defenses?" Victoria muttered with a smile as a bird was created out of shadow in front of her and she took to the sky.
"Check for any injured mages and get them help, you go check on the barrier corps and tell them to hurry up, You run to the Royal palace and tell them I sent you, then report back"
Evelyn spoke, and the mages immediately dashed away as she stood on the wall staring above.
Victoria was better at sensing Mana than her, so she knew the demon that destroyed the barrier was already gone, because if it was here, Victoria would have gone straight for it.

.
.
Far from the wall, over the academy, two dark figures flew silently. The academy was beside the wall, so they landed there.
They landed inside the academy grounds, besides the class 1 dorm room right in front of Roman’s eyes.
"I just saw something outside the window," Roman spoke, cutting off Ava as she was still talking about going outside the dorm.
"What did you see?" Aurelia asked Roman.
Ava, who was closest to the window, peered through and saw a demon outside the dorm.
"There’s a demon outside" Ava muttered.
"What?" Aurelia quickly dashed towards the window and saw the demon, its wings were down and it was walking towards the front of the dorm.
"No way. We’re inside the academy. Even though they made it through the barrier, why would one come here?" Reina asked.
"Because the academy is close to the wall, maybe the demon came over the wall here" Ava replied.
"Alder was supposed to be guarding this area; she must have seen the demon, right? Roman spoke.
"We should go see" Ava spoke as she got down from her bed.
"That is a very bad idea, we’re supposed to stay here, Miss Alder would protect us, we’ll only be holding her back" Reina replied.
"I’m not talking to you, you’ll be holding her back, you’re a mage without a spell, I was talking to Aurelia" Ava replied.
"I’ll get my sword," Aurelia spoke as she dashed towards her room, and Ava looked at Roman.
"You think I’m going to stop you? I’m coming with you, I want to see the way Miss Alder kills it," Roman replied as they both stepped outside the room to meet Aurelia, who had a sword in her hand.
The three of them dashed towards the stairs and went down, the dorm was closed, and close to the door were the two healers from the medical center and two mages from the research department.
"What are you doing down here? Go back upstairs," Rae spoke as she saw them.
"There’s a demon in the academy, it’s in front of the dorm, don’t you sense it, it’s right in front?" Aurelia replied.
"Wait...where is Miss Alder?" Ava asked.
"She left when the barrier went down. I saw her fly toward the capital." One of the mages from the research department spoke.
Ava turned to them. "So... there’s no one protecting this dorm right now?"
They all looked at each other.
Silence.
"What about you two? Aren’t you mages?" Roman asked the mages from the research department.
"We can’t fight a demon, and both of them are healers, we just have to wait, help is coming"
Ava turned towards Aurelia, who now had a strange smile on her face. She knew what Aurelia was thinking; she was thinking the same, but she was afraid.
"What are you girls thinking?" Roman asked, and at that moment, everything changed as they heard a screech and a loud sound.
*BOOM!*
"The barrier!" Rae mumbled.
"Open the door" Aurelia spoke.
"What, there’s no way I’m letting"
"I said open the door," Aurelia spoke again, and this time she ran towards the door.
"Are we really doing this? Are we crazy?" Ava shouted as she ran behind her, and Rae opened the door as both of them dashed outside.
This was their first time in front of a demon, and their very first battle, and in front of them was a demon.
The demon was tall, thin, with black skin and sharp claws, its wings sticking to its back, and its red eyes glowed as it locked onto them.
At that moment the only thing running through both of their heads was ’don’t die’.
Aurelia immediately unsheathed her sword and raised it. She then whispered some words, and her sword glowed a bit.
Her entire body glowed too—she was using her enchantments to increase both her durability, power, and speed.
"I’ll go first," she said.
Ava stepped beside her, her heart beating so loud she could hear it, but it didn’t matter, right now, they were in front of a demon.
"Let’s do this."
The demon rushed at them.
Aurelia ran in, swinging fast. Her sword hit the demon’s arm, but didn’t cut deep. The demon roared and swung back.
Aurelia thought she was fast enough, but couldn’t dodge the first hit as she was hit on the side and was sent flying. The demon wanted to chase after Aurelia, but Ava fired her first spell.
"Flame Shot!" Ava shouted, sending a fireball at its chest. It hit, but it wasn’t a normal fireball as it exploded the moment it hit the demon, causing it to stagger backwards.
"Ice spikes!" she added, launching three ice spikes towards it.
But this time the demon jumped, flapping its wings and lunging at her with breathtaking speed.
The demon roared, eyes locked on Ava. She tried to raise a wall of ice, but her hands trembled in the face of danger. Aurelia stood, bleeding and panting.
The demon lunged, but instead of the demon hitting Ava, it swung its claws at the air. Roman created a flashy illusion just in time to divert the demon’s attention.
Then—
*BOOM!*
A blast of flame hit the demon as a massive bird passed over the academy. Two people landed from above.
It was Alder, and Clara was with her.
Clara raised one hand, and a flame spear formed in her hand, which she shot towards the demon, and it hit, creating a hole in its head as it crashed on the ground.
Ava sank to one knee, heart racing. Aurelia stared in disbelief.
"We almost died," Aurelia whispered, half to herself.
