CHAPTER 157: CHAPTER 157 PREPARATION

The shadow lost an arm and staggered back, sizzling. Victoria was slightly surprised by the power of his spells, but Roman had been holding back a little.

Roman smirked. He was getting the hang of it, when training he found a good balance that helped him minimize his Mana usage since he didn’t have that much.

But with his spell power high, his spells were still powerful.

Roman wasted no time as he stretched his hand forward shooting off [Fireball] and [Flame arrow] towards the shadow till it was completely gone.

Roman took a deep breath and turned towards Victoria who had a smile on her face.

"I think there’s hope for you after all," Victoria spoke as she walked forward. "I have a question: which of the other nine do you think you can win? You’re very sure you can win?"

"I saw their battles, so I’ll say Mira, she’s the summoner, I can also beat Reina, the S-rank summoner, and I think I can beat the rest of the girls, but the one problem I think I’ll have is Aurelia," Roman replied.

"You saw her battle armor right?" Victoria spoke with a smirk. Over the weeks, she had become comfortable around Roman, almost too comfortable.

"She used her enchantment on the armor, but isn’t that too much?"

"She’s an enchanter, she has the right to bring in whatever she wants as long as it’s not been previously enchanted, she uses a sword and a shield to fight with full body armor, it shouldn’t be that hard to beat" Victoria chuckled.

"I do have that one spell, I should be able to use it since she’ll also want to fight in close combat"

"You do know there’s an enchantment to repel spells right, I’m pretty sure the princess should have it, it’s a high-level spell I’ve only seen used once, by a high-level mage from the kingdom of Bullmar"

"The Royal family has the spell in their library, and the princess should have mastered it, though it’s not ideal since it uses too much Mana, but if she can finish you off in 2 minutes, she should be able to manage the spell," Victoria spoke, and Roman stared at her.

"Why didn’t you tell me something like that, so she can just use it on her armor and it’ll repel all my spells, how am I supposed to win then?" Roman asked.

"Why are you asking me? Figure it out... remember I promised you high-level spells if you win, try your best." Victoria spoke as she walked past him.

"That’s all for today?" Roman asked.

"Yes, I wanted to train you to use only your flame spells, but you already have that under control. I’ll see you tomorrow at the Royal Palace," Victoria replied as she walked towards the door and exited the building.

’Tomorrow, at least I’m prepared, I should be able to win, I think’ Roman sat down on the ground and closed his eyes.

He had been working on his Mana sense for weeks; that was the use of his meditation. Not all spells were going to be fired towards him, so he had to be quick, sensing and then dodging the spells.

Another use of the meditation was when fighting summoners, since it wasn’t going to be a one-on-one fight, Roman wouldn’t be able to focus on all three or four attackers all at once.

Roman stats saw a significant increase due to two people, Reina and Ava, the two other S-ranks apart from him.

After the demon attack, that night, Roman still cheered Ava up with sex, and from then on, they had sex at least once every two days.

Reina quickly joined in the next night since Roman couldn’t have sex with Ava without activating his curse, and it soon turned into a regular threesome.

Roman’s Mana and spell power had the most improvements because of that, and then the rest of his stats followed with his random hookups, and also twice with Mira.

Her plan to get herself pregnant was unsuccessful till now. Roman’s stats also increased due to his training, his strength, stamina, and agility.

His charm was just increasing randomly, now to his spells, after the first week, which Roman cast the [Flame Arrow] as his assignment to Miss Clara.

Victoria fed him different spell books, which he practiced multiple times before getting them. Spell books explained how to cast the spells, the spell circle, and even how to improve the spell.

He tried with darkness but couldn’t learn anything about darkness as it was too complicated. The only other problem he had was Arcane magic; he could learn any spell under it. He managed to learn a Rune magic, but Arcane was proving too hard.

His new spells were [Flame burst: which was just like fireball, but it explodes on impact, dealing more damage.

[Scorch Wave: A wide wave of fire that spreads out from the caster, burning everything in its path]

[Explosive Ember: This was Roman’s close combat spell, it creates an ember in his hands and when he touches his opponent, the ember explodes with a strong blast after a few seconds]

[Stone Bullet: Launches a small but fast chunk of stone at his opponent, to avoid wasting Mana he could use a stone from the ground]

[Protection Rune: Summons a rune that acts like a shield, blocking incoming attacks for a short time]

[Sound Attack: This was an illusion spell that releases a burst of sharp, high-pitched sound that stuns or disorients his opponent, he has to touch his opponent for the spell to work, and it only lasts for a second]

[Blood Extraction: Pulls blood from a wounded or dead enemy to store, blood can be pooled together and then hardened]

[Blood Barrier: Uses the Roman’s or stored blood to create a red shield that can absorb damage]

[Binding: Traps the target in place using magical chains, stopping them from moving, used for summoning]

[Protection Enchantment: A buff spell that enhances the defense of the target, making them take less damage for a while]

These were all of Roman’s new spells; he had spent weeks practicing. His latest spell was the enchantment spell, but he had a good grasp on how to use the rest.

After the hawk, Victoria told him not to summon anything until after he won the tournament which he did even after learning binding spells.

The girls, on the other hand, seemed to be improving even more than he. Reina Mana was still much more than his; Ava also had more Mana than Reina, and Aurelia had the most Mana of all the students.

The other 5 students who qualified for the tournament were all from Noble families, and Roman knew they would all be gunning for him.

Roman sat up and walked towards the door. He was also done for the day; he didn’t want to overwork himself since the tournament was tomorrow, and he had no idea if he would duel tomorrow.

Victoria had told him the tournament would take a week, which was 6 days; the first day would just be two matches, the same as the second day.

The matches would be random, so he could be among any of them, but Roman’s hope was not to be placed with Aurelia or Ava in the opening stages.

Roman exited the building and walked forward, he walked past the library before heading back to the dorm

After the first week had passed, he visited the library several times, where he spoke to Neia all the time. The library was always occupied, so nothing erotic happened during his time there.

As Roman walked back to the dorm, he noticed how quiet the academy grounds were; his class no longer took place in the main building but ok the training ground.

Alder used the training ground inside the main building, while Clara used the one outside. They mostly did training drills, spell casting, but no dueling. The closest they got was blocking spells from other students.

Roman looked up at the sky, it was still clear, still blue and it felt like the calm before the storm.

But there was something he was looking forward to, and that was meeting his mother and sister. It had been a month since he last saw them, and he had missed them.

Roman walked through the hallway and arrived at his room. He pushed the door open and walked in. Ava was on her bed sleeping.
