CHAPTER 158: CHAPTER 158 SUMMONING

Roman went towards his bed and lay down. It was evening, but he still had much time before nightfall with nothing to do.

Roman didn’t want to train, and he also didn’t want to sleep now.

If he did, he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night and would have to be up, training, or maybe having sex with Ava since the last person he had sex with was Eve.

A knock interrupted his thoughts, and the door opened. It was Reina at the door, and she stepped in.

"Are you busy? Mira is trying to tame another summon because of the tournament tomorrow. Do you want to watch?" Reina asked.

"I don’t have anything doing, sure," Roman muttered as he stood up and both walked down, heading towards the main building.

"So, how are you feeling about the tournament? I also don’t see you much on the training ground. Are you training alone because you don’t want anyone to know what spells you have?" Reina asked.

"Part of it... I’m sure you’re ready for the tournament. This would be a good chance for higher noble families to see how powerful you are," Roman replied.

"I don’t really want to be adopted by any noble family, plus my family is already living in the capital thanks to the Queen and the academy" Reina replied.

"Alright, let’s see what she’s doing," Roman muttered as they walked into the main building and headed for the training ground inside.

The training ground had a barrier around the center area and seats for students to sit, unlike the one outside, so other students can observe a duel and, in this case, a summoning.

During the first summoning, this class had which involved 6 summoners.

Miss Clara and Miss Alder were present, only 1 student among the six messed up as she summoned a serpent, a little bigger than normal, but she was afraid of snakes, so it had to be killed.

Roman and Reina walked in, and a few students were already seated waiting. Mira was in the center with her eyes closed.

During summoning, external help would automatically void the summoning, and the summon had to be killed, but the summoner could use its already existing summons as help.

Also, all the summoners were instructed to have others watching them in case they accidentally summon something beyond their capabilities, the other could join in and defeat the beast.

Reina sat down at the edge, but Roman stood close to her without sitting down. This was his fifth time watching a summoning; if it wasn’t for Victoria, he was sure he would have three summons by now.

For Roman, taming his summons would be easy since he had tons of other spells, but for summoning, the only spell they had was binding spells, and some binding spells had special properties and, in some cases, could be used to attack.

Mira finally stood up and looked to her side, she could see everyone watching, then she saw Reina and Roman beside her.

’I’m going to win the tournament,’ Mira mumbled before placing her hands on the ground, and two magic circles appeared with two beasts coming out of them.

The first one was a boar, larger than normal with two large tusks. The boar snorts aggressively, pawing at the ground with thick hooves, and its eyes glowing slightly.

At the other side beside her was another one of her summoning, a hawk came out, unlike Roman’s hawk, this wasn’t just a normal hawk.

It was bigger than his, even bigger than Mira herself, and most importantly, it was an elemental hawk with lightning abilities. It couldn’t shoot out lightning, but it could electrify its claws and swipe at enemies, delivering shocks that could paralyze a person, as Mira found out when she tried to tame it.

The hawk was Mira’s strongest summoning. She had another one, making her summon three in total, but the last one wasn’t for fighting; it was a small dove that could heal wounds, but it consumed lots of Mana.

Both of her summonings stood beside her, and then she placed her hands on the ground again. This time, a magic circle appeared in front of her, and she quickly backed away as a creature emerged from the circle.

It was a monkey, a regular-sized monkey, its skin was orange with patches of black around it. Mira had no idea what it was since it wasn’t in any of the summoning books she had read.

The monkey was eating with its eyes closed and didn’t realize it was somewhere else until it opened its eyes.

As the orange monkey opened its eyes, it blinked twice, then let out a loud screech.

Mira took another step back, watching closely. At first, the monkey just looked around trying to find a way to escape, scratching its head and sniffing the air like it was confused. But then, things changed quickly.

The monkey slammed both hands into the ground.

A deep rumble followed that made the sand in the training ground begin to vibrate, and soon rocks broke off from the ground and shot up from the floor like spikes, and a thick wall of stone rose behind it.

Gasps echoed from the seated students. Roman narrowed his eyes, watching closely. This definitely wasn’t an ordinary monkey.

"It can control earth?" Reina muttered from her seat.

The monkey leaped onto the wall it created with ease, balancing perfectly. Then, with another slam of its fists, more chunks of the ground lifted and floated mid-air. Stones spun around it like little satellites.

"Okay... this might be a problem," Mira muttered to herself.

She turned to her boar.

The boar snorted, scratched its hooves against the floor, then charged. Its heavy body smashed into the wall, and it broke through. It was still not able to bring down the wall, so it moved backwards and charged again.

The monkey saw the boar charging again and quickly reacted.

It raised one hand, and the stones spinning around it shot down like arrows. Some hit the boar, making it slow down, while others hit the ground and exploded into dust.

The monkey then jumped to another wall it made, climbing with ease as the boar crashed the first wall before making its way back to Mira.

Mira had the hawk close to her since she didn’t have any defensive spells, she couldn’t afford to get herself injured and as the boar got close to her, the lightning hawk screeched and took to the air.

It zoomed upward and aimed straight for the monkey. But the monkey was smart. It saw the hawk coming and jumped off the wall just before the hawk struck.

Midair, the monkey used its tail to grab a floating stone, swung around it, and landed safely on another pillar. It grinned as it shot a piece of rock at the hawk, who dodged it just in time.

"How is it able to climb a floating stone?" Mira muttered.

Her only plan was to bring it to the ground since the binding spells she had all need the opponent to be in the ground except one.

She raised both hands, and a muddy circle appeared under the monkey’s pillar.

The mud rose like a rope and tried to grab the monkey’s legs, but the monkey waved its hand, and the mud-binding spell dissolved like water.

"I should have known, well, you leave me no choice," Mira muttered as lightning sparked and the hawk’s speed increased as it dashed towards the monkey.

The monkey jumped away as soon as it saw the hawk. It jumped onto three floating stones and then created a wall in front, but Mira already had her boar charging towards the wall and destroyed it as soon as the monkey climbed on and it fell down to the ground.

Mira immediately placed her hands together and muttered a chant. This time, silver chains shot out from the ground like snakes, aimed directly at the monkey.

The monkey jumped again, flipping backward to another platform but one of the chains caught its ankle.

"Yes!" Mira shouted.

But the monkey twisted and spun its body, slamming a rock into the chain. It broke free before the spell could fully bind it.

"Almost..." Mira gritted her teeth.

The monkey then clapped its hands, and a row of spikes shot out of the ground toward her.

The monkey hadn’t attacked her till now, since she already had one of her summons protecting her, but this time her boar wasn’t fast enough to block the strike, and her hawk was hovering above.

"Hardened skin," Mira muttered as she covered her face, and the stone slammed into her, dealing no damage.

This was one of the shared abilities she got from her boar; she could harden her skin and block almost all physical attacks.

The monkey went on the move again, leaping and climbing across the floating stones like a parkour expert.
