Starting Cultivation in Wasteland
Chapter 2: Save Me
CHAPTER 2: CHAPTER 2: SAVE ME
Qu Jianlei indeed has a condition, and it’s not just a trivial matter like obsessive-compulsive disorder.
His IQ is far above the average person. Before traveling through time, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome on Blue Star by the hospital.
However, Qu Jianlei believes that he belongs to high-functioning autism, where the "high function" lies in mental computation.
After crossing over into the original owner’s body, the intellectual disability of this flesh did not affect his IQ at all.
As for the label or "personality" of intellectual disability, he could happily accept it.
Because the manifestation of Asperger’s Syndrome also makes people feel like "this person’s brain has issues."
Qu Jianlei considers himself high-functioning autistic, but to outsiders, are these two labels really that different?
There are many manifestations of similar conditions, but despite the changes, the essence remains the same: the mind can’t control the body!
It’s not the kind where "eyes say yes, hands say stop fooling around."
Instead, it’s that his IQ knows, doing this is inappropriate, and one should think it over carefully.
But the body’s reaction is: I can’t tolerate this... suppressing it will lead to a fiery outburst!
In many cases, the body made judgments before the mind!
So Qu Jianlei simply stated, "I don’t want to be devoured, whether by the Fallen... or the people behind you!"
Upon hearing this, Rogers was first stunned, then burst into laughter, rocking back and forth.
"Do you really think this is my scheme? Haha, that’s killing me with laughter!"
Admittedly, Rogers isn’t lacking in intelligence, although Qu Jianlei has always looked down on him.
"Is it so funny? Then go on and laugh," Qu Jianlei said, drooping his eyelids.
His hands and feet were bound, probably with non-elastic alloy ropes... These ropes are quite troublesome.
There are many types of ropes, categorized in various ways, and the distinction between elastic and non-elastic is a significant category.
Non-elastic ropes, when used to bind someone over time, can lead to tissue necrosis, and things like amputation are quite normal.
Elastic ropes leave a lot of room, allowing for misunderstandings to be discussed.
Since it’s the Fallen who captured him, using non-elastic alloy ropes is normal. Ensuring he doesn’t escape is their priority.
However, non-elastic ropes have their advantages, making them less complicated to untie.
In the darkness, his hands twisted into an extremely bizarre angle, starting to explore the ropes tied to his hands.
"A dead knot... but it’s not important."
While groping for the rope knot, Qu Jianlei carefully shielded his hands for fear of being seen by Rogers.
Fortunately, the lighting was too dim for the other party to notice his little actions.
But Rogers was not easy to deal with, after a rest, he started to mumble in low tones again.
"Brother Qu, if you need my cooperation, just say the word."
"Brother Qu, you aren’t just waiting for rescue, are you? I know with your personality, you wouldn’t give up..."
"Sha Qu, if you really escape without me, I’ll have a hard time controlling my emotions and will certainly do something..."
"Brother Qu, Master Qu, Grandpa Qu... you must hold on!"
Qu Jianlei turned a deaf ear, focusing solely on calculating how to untie the dead knot.
After about twenty minutes, he already had a preliminary plan for solving it.
If he gives his all, he should be able to untie the ropes on his hands within a minute.
Rogers’ muttering finally attracted a Fallen.
It was a dual-headed creature, with one head larger, the smaller one with distinct features, its mouth opening and closing.
The person was wearing tattered leather armor, holding a stick, and came in beating them viciously.
While beating, he cursed, "If I weren’t afraid you’d die early, I’d chop off an arm to have with a drink right now!"
After the beating, he took two items from a hook and turned to leave.
Qu Jianlei paid no mind to this being’s life or death, but noticed a detail... the door wasn’t locked!
Honestly, there was no need to lock the door. They were both tied up tightly, and their defensive weapons had long been confiscated.
While the Fallen had weapons in their hands—even guns!
But Qu Jianlei wouldn’t back down; the door being unlocked greatly increased the chances of escaping.
Taking advantage of Rogers being beaten into a daze, an abnormal flush passed over his face, "Calculate!"
What he has always prided himself on is his IQ and computing ability, and this ability was not lost after crossing over.
In fact, as he grew older, his computational skills continued to strengthen.
He vaguely felt that the artificial intelligence he had once developed had also entered his brainwaves and crossed over with him.
Thinking of artificial intelligence, his emotions rarely wavered, as it was the achievement he had poured his heart and soul into.
Qu Jianlei wasn’t an orphan on Blue Star; his parents were alive, and even his grandparents above them, three were still living.
His father was a doctor, and his mother was a teacher; the family wasn’t poor, and his grandfather even had a building on the outskirts, which was demolished.
It can’t be said it was a wealthy family, but at least it was a middle-upper class family.
If Qu Jianlei wanted to start a business, he at least wouldn’t have a problem gathering startup funds.
And he excelled, relying on exceptional calculation skills to make waves in the international financial market, reaping many rounds of profits.
In just three short years, he multiplied his initial funds tens of thousands of times, attracting the attention of international financial sharks seeking to take him down.
The Divine Land would certainly protect him: he’s not just a domestic bully, he’s worth protecting!
But he thought it would be difficult to mix in the financial market again, so Divine Land asked him: What do you want to do then?
Of course, it’s artificial intelligence! Qu Jianlei knew he wasn’t good at socializing and felt more at ease dealing with machines.
Therefore, although his artificial intelligence project was privately initiated, it was extremely large in scale.
Divine Land also provided great support in terms of manpower and resources.
Unfortunately, he encountered an unusual electromagnetic storm and traveled through time.
Qu Jianlei felt his current computing capacity far exceeded that on Blue Star, and it could continue to improve.
But sadly, high-intensity mental calculations consumed too much energy.
Over the past six years, he’s struggled to have enough food, barely surviving, with little energy left for improvement.
But now, even if it consumes energy, he must use it!
Under his focused operation, his hands bound behind him were as agile as butterflies among flowers.
In just half a minute, he untied the knot and then spent another fifteen seconds tying a new knot.
At first glance, this knot seemed more complex and despair-inducing than the previous one.
However, in fact, just a gentle pull on the middle rope end would instantly free his hands.
As for the bound feet, he also reached out to touch them, having prepared an escape plan.
But he didn’t untie the knot on his feet since doing so would consume too much energy.
The mere forty seconds of operation had already covered his forehead with beads of sweat.
Not only does the computing process consume energy, but his joints freely stretching also consume a great deal of energy.
This technique isn’t from the Wasteland but is still a legacy of Divine Land.
Qu Jianlei wasn’t good at socializing on Blue Star, but he was very interested in the Daoist Sect classics.
Without systematic inheritance, he nonetheless researched various mixed items for a while.
At that time, he didn’t come up with any results, but upon coming to the Wasteland, there were some outcomes.
However, still, that same phrase, this method... consumes a lot of energy!
Qu Jianlei could do really a lot of things, with a bright future ahead, the problem is... he lacks strength!
Even after being tied up, he could untie the knot, which was a strong method, but could it help him secure a large territory?
To live, one still has to be realistic.
As for Rogers saying that clinging to an organization could make life a hundred times better?
Qu Jianlei sent him just one word, "You fool!"
So the bindings on his feet, Qu Jianlei was not in a hurry to untie, if he were willing, it would take just half a minute.
The energy in his body was rapidly declining, seemingly starting to consume his limited fat.
Therefore, he must accumulate enough foundation so that when the time is right, he can muster the strength to escape.
After a while, Rogers seemed to regain a bit of spirit, "Brother Qu?"
Qu Jianlei completely ignored him, not being on the same path, what was there to say?
After about another ten hours, the dual-headed person walked in again and took away half a chunk of meat.
He glanced at Qu Jianlei and coldly uttered, "Want to eat meat?"
Qu Jianlei bowed his head and didn’t speak, clearly showing a look of suppressed anger.
"Fool!" The dual-headed person was evidently too familiar with such situations to bother saying more.
He turned his head to look at Rogers, "How about you?"
"I’ll eat, I’ll eat!" Rogers nodded frantically, "I want to live a few more days."
"Not too stupid," the dual-headed person casually remarked, then walked out, "Next meal, I’ll give you meat!"
He left, and Qu Jianlei lightly glanced at Rogers.
"Don’t look at me like that," Rogers snapped back with irritation, asking, "I just want to live, is that wrong?"
"Besides, if I don’t eat, I’ll die!"
Qu Jianlei lowered his gaze again and didn’t speak further.
After another seven or eight hours, the dual-headed person walked in again, staring intently at Qu Jianlei.
"Kid, I originally planned to fatten you up a bit!" He pulled a dagger from his waist.
No time to wait! Qu Jianlei tightened the muscles in his waist, ready to leap up.
But just at that moment, a muffled sound of "da da da" came from outside.
"Gauss Automatic Rifle?" The three of them turned their heads to look outside.
"This is... someone’s here!" Rogers was elated, "Rescue has truly arrived!"
"I was about to give you meat!" The dual-headed person yelled angrily and threw the dagger towards Rogers.
He flung the dagger without looking back and darted outside like an arrow.
To him, these "meat people" were not worth worrying about; what was happening outside was what required his involvement.
Rogers struggled frantically, the dagger grazed his neck and stabbed into the ground.
Even so, his carotid artery was pierced, spurting blood with a "sizzling" sound.
"Qu... Brother Qu, save me."
