Starting Cultivation in Wasteland
Chapter 37: Sudden Change of Opponent
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: SUDDEN CHANGE OF OPPONENT
Flower Scorpion is the nickname of that female gunslinger, quite famous among the Hunters.
The female gunslinger was furious when she heard this, "I haven’t lived long enough... daring to reveal my name, Iron Palm Gang, this isn’t over!"
Having a nickname exposed is still an exposure, especially when the rival is such a formidable character.
The three-wheeler sped away, kicking up billowing dust.
At this moment, even if Qu Jianlei wanted to stop it, he couldn’t—the dust cloud obstructed his view.
So he unhesitatingly switched to the Gauss Machine Gun and fiercely swept at the two motorcycles.
The gunman on one motorcycle got hit, the bullet nicking the rider, causing them to crash to the ground immediately.
The last motorcycle, seeing this, was scared out of their wits and sped away without looking back.
The sky-filled dust shrouded the silhouette of the motorcycles.
Qu Jianlei didn’t want to waste ammunition, so he took a prone position, set up the Gauss Machine Gun, and shot short bursts to kill the members aboard.
After about a dozen short bursts, two more people were shot dead on the truck.
The remaining person was so scared they jumped out of the truck in terror.
Before jumping, he threw out a Gauss Automatic Rifle to facilitate counterattack upon landing.
The idea wasn’t wrong, but just as he rolled over to the Gauss Gun’s side, a beam shot straight toward him.
His body jerked, his head hit the ground, and he stopped moving.
"What a fool," Qu Jianlei muttered softly, "he basically wanted me to shoot a sitting duck."
If the opponent rolled about randomly, he really wouldn’t have had a good solution, especially since the circling truck was also kicking up considerable dust.
The best choice would have been to jump off with a gun.
Sadly, such a maneuver requires high personal military skills.
In such situations, for an ordinary person, just jumping out uninjured is already quite fortunate.
After killing this person, there were still three people alive on the opposite side, one severely injured, the other two lightly wounded.
Taking out these three was a bit difficult, as someone kept rolling, and another was hiding behind a motorcycle.
After half an hour, Qu Jianlei finally managed to kill these three people.
The Hairless Freak had already returned on a motorcycle; after he rode out far enough, he observed the situation behind him.
Riding off on a motorcycle? For him, that idea was out of the question.
He could escape, but once the vehicle’s supplies were depleted, he’d be dead meat.
Qu Jianlei carefully went around to make sure the bodies were truly dead, then waved him over, "Search the spoils."
Out of sixteen pursuers, eleven lives were left behind, along with three motorcycles and a convertible truck.
There was an abundance of weapons and ammunition, and even the fleeing Flower Scorpion left behind a Laser Rifle.
Unfortunately, the Laser Gun was damaged from the fall; these guns are not as rugged and durable as Gauss Guns.
But it wasn’t entirely useless, at least they could collect some Laser Gun components.
Amusingly, these eleven people had barely fired a few shots overall, so they saved quite a bit of ammunition.
The biggest gain was, of course, the convertible truck; with it, they no longer had to haul around a makeshift cart.
The two of them cleaned up the battlefield and loaded the bodies onto the truck; Xiao Jing even lamented, "Too bad two vehicles got away."
"It’s good enough," Qu Jianlei shook his head, "luckily, they weren’t professional; otherwise... it would have been hard to escape."
As he said that, seeing a truck full of spoils, he couldn’t help but laugh, "Transport commander, indeed."
Xiao Jing couldn’t drive, so Qu Jianlei took over the driving duties.
However, after not driving far, he discovered another problem, "The fuel tank is leaking!"
In the wilderness, for a fuel leak, Qu Jianlei didn’t have a good solution either.
He could only find some plastic to plug it up and tape it together.
After finishing these makeshift repairs, he said to continue the journey, but in the distant, more dust clouds rose, with a three-wheeler leading the way.
"Dare to come again?" Seeing this, Qu Jianlei was furious, jumped into the truck bed, and turned the Vehicle-Mounted Machine Gun.
The other side saw him and was taken aback, hurriedly pulling out a red cloth and waving it in the air, tracing a triangle trajectory.
"Fallen?" Qu Jianlei hadn’t expected that during their retreat, they would encounter the Fallen.
After thinking it over, he still picked up the speaker, "Keep fleeing, don’t stop. Circle from the front of the truck!"
He truly feared nothing against three people; his truck was stationary, armed with a Vehicle-Mounted Machine Gun, a lethal weapon.
As long as the opponent didn’t slow, he had nothing to worry about; even a Divine Gunman would struggle to aim precisely on a bouncing motorcycle.
The three-wheeler, seeing the former adversary willing to cooperate, indeed passed through from the truck’s front.
Meanwhile, the rider shouted, "Be careful, they also have Vehicle-Mounted Machine Guns!"
Chasing after the three-wheeler were a truck and two motorcycles.
Amid the rolling dust, visibility was poor, but the general outline could still be seen.
The three pursuing vehicles were also hampered by the dust; initially, they didn’t notice Qu Jianlei’s truck.
By the time they realized it, they rushed to slow down and brake.
But it was already a bit late; Qu Jianlei pulled the trigger, and the Vehicle-Mounted Machine Gun spewed flames wildly.
The tricycle came back around, and the woman in the truck bed picked up the machine gun and sprayed wildly.
I have to admit, experienced Hunters easily develop a combat synergy.
Qu Jianlei was firing at the truck, while the tricycle’s target was locked onto the other two motorcycles.
Voices of rage erupted from the vehicles across, "It’s an ambush, retreat quickly!"
However, it was ultimately too late, as one motorcycle was exploded into the air by the Flower Scorpion.
Qu Jianlei’s shooting also took out the truck driver, and he continued spraying the truck.
The remaining motorcycle saw this, turned around in fright, and ran off.
After another five minutes, the battle was completely over, with Qu Jianlei and the tricycle partnering to kill the remaining Fallen.
As for continuing the fight between the two? That doesn’t exist!
The Flower Scorpion directly raised his hands high and shouted loudly, "Today I am in the wrong, I’ll accept my punishment!"
Qu Jianlei wasn’t morally obsessed and didn’t mind eradicating every root.
But he recalled the last battle, where the tricycle was the first to run, and it was evident that there was some dispute among them.
So he pointed the vehicle-mounted machine gun at the other party, "Let’s talk compensation first, why were you chasing me?"
"The Iron Palm Gang intends to fully occupy Sweet Water Camp," the woman replied straightforwardly, "and you happened to offend them."
Qu Jianlei had already guessed the cause and effect, but he hadn’t expected it to be related to the gang’s occupation.
Anyway, the statement made him very displeased, "Hmm... I offended them?"
"It doesn’t matter who offended who," the woman answered without hesitation, "they need to establish authority, and you just happened to carry some supplies."
Qu Jianlei nodded slightly, he thought the same, who offended whom wasn’t important, as the fight had already broken out.
"Iron Palm Gang... It’s called that because someone has a mechanical arm?"
"Just a mechanical palm," the woman wasn’t surprised that he could guess, "but the leader generally doesn’t make a move."
Pausing for a moment, she expressed disdainfully, "Really a waste of a mechanical hand."
"Even if it’s wasted, it’s still theirs," Qu Jianlei stated indifferently, then asked, "What about you?"
"I was hired," the woman answered without hesitation, "thirty percent of the loot goes to me."
Qu Jianlei was also not surprised by this answer, "How much compensation can you offer me?"
The woman raised her hand and pointed into the distance, "The Fallen’s loot, all yours... how about it?"
Qu Jianlei snorted, "Without my intervention, you’d be dead for sure, it’s all mine... isn’t that how it should be?"
The woman calmly retorted, "You know the second clause of the ’Convention on Exterminating the Fallen,’ right?"
Equal divide of loot... Qu Jianlei remembered, this convention used to be far from him, so he didn’t think much about it.
However, he didn’t intend to fully comply with her, "That’s for emphasizing participants... you’re currently being hunted!"
"Alright," the woman didn’t intend to argue over this, in fact, she considered herself lucky to be alive today.
"What else do you hope to get?"
Xiao Jing spoke up first, "Take down that Two Snake... he’s hit me several times!"
"Hmm, that’s one," Qu Jianlei nodded upon hearing this, "Can you fulfill this small request?"
"Too simple," the woman replied arrogantly, "Finding this small fry is harder than taking him down."
Qu Jianlei pondered for a moment and looked at the other two, "Can these two be trusted?"
"My brothers in life and death," the woman answered decisively, "Whatever you tell me, I’ll tell them."
"Then come over as a hostage," Qu Jianlei nodded slightly, "I have something to do, any problem?"
"Sis, don’t listen to him," the rider got nervous at this.
"No problem," the woman answered without hesitation.
Then she glanced at the rider, "If he wanted to harm us, he wouldn’t have intervened to save us earlier."
The rider couldn’t help but mutter, "We might not have been able to run away either."
"Shut up," the woman scolded, stepping out of the truck bed, "Have you forgotten what I’m best at?"
The rider’s mouth moved twice, then finally shut up.
Watching the woman climb onto the horse groove and directly jump into the truck bed, Qu Jianlei was also a bit puzzled, "What are you best at?"
The woman hesitated before answering, "Intuition."
Qu Jianlei was momentarily stunned at that answer, then nodded, "That can indeed be useful in combat."
He truly didn’t believe that anyone’s intuition could be stronger than his, but there was no need to argue over this.
He took an elastic rope and tied the woman’s hands behind her, "Alright, let’s go check the spoils together."
The rider and the other man watched with eyes wide open but had no thoughts of resistance.
In the Wasteland, kidnapping hostages wasn’t common; life wasn’t worth much here.
However, the woman was the leader of the three, and more importantly, Qu Jianlei’s demeanor didn’t seem particularly hostile.
If an accident occurred, these two would retaliate, but they had no desire to initiate an attack.
Driving up close to take a look, everyone felt a bit disgusted.
In the Fallen’s truck bed, there were three bodies, disassembled kind.
