Chapter 303: Lin Dawei Enters the City
CHAPTER 303: CHAPTER 303: LIN DAWEI ENTERS THE CITY
The first priority in doing business is to maintain good relationships. Lin Fan certainly understands this principle. When these business tycoons voluntarily make friendly gestures, he’d naturally not miss the opportunity.
By the time Lin Fan finished socializing, it was already two o’clock in the afternoon.
Today could be considered Lin Fan’s busiest day since he became wealthy.
As his business keeps growing, such busyness is likely to become Lin Fan’s daily routine.
Lin Fan then left the company with his secretary, Jiayi, to attend the Yun City business convention.
Shortly after they departed from the Celestial Aviation Headquarters, Lin Fan received a call. When he saw it was his mom, he quickly answered.
"Little Fan, your third uncle’s flight is at two-thirty in the afternoon. If you have time, please pick him up; he’s traveling alone," said Mrs. Lin.
Lin Fan sweated a bit; he was so busy today that he nearly forgot about his third uncle. Fortunately, his mom reminded him.
"Okay, I’ll go right now," Lin Fan replied.
Then he hung up the phone.
"Let’s head to Yun City Airport," Lin Fan instructed Jiayi, who was driving.
Jiayi was a bit curious, "Chairman, we need to attend the business convention. Going to the airport now might make us late..."
Lin Fan responded, "No problem, I’ll just tell Mr. Song later."
He couldn’t possibly leave his family hanging at the airport for the business convention. Lin Fan was a person who valued relationships, and no one was more important than family.
Jiayi dared not say much else and had no choice but to turn around and head to the airport.
Yun City Airport.
A middle-aged farmer in simple clothing, carrying a rustic bundle, walked out of the airport. Looking at the bustling metropolis before him, he showed a timid expression.
Lin Dawei!
Lin Fan’s third uncle.
Because of years of hard work and illness, Lin Dawei, who was in his fifties, looked as old as someone in their sixties. His face was sallow, and he was skinny like a stick.
Carrying his bundle, Lin Dawei arrived at a bus stop outside the airport because, besides buses, many cars were also waiting to pick up people there.
Lin Dawei knew Lin Fan would come to get him, so he waited for Lin Fan there.
Lin Dawei’s appearance occasionally received disdainful glances from those nearby.
"Another migrant worker from the countryside, huh?"
"It looks so rustic, and it seems he even has a stench on him!"
"I guess he’s also waiting for the bus. Keep a distance from him when you get on."
People whispered, avoiding Lin Dawei.
Lin Dawei didn’t notice the disdain around him. All his attention was on the crowd, looking for Lin Fan’s figure.
According to his guess, Lin Fan would either come by bus or ride an e-bike to pick him up, as he heard from Lin Fan’s mom that Lin Fan worked as a courier in Yun City, and couriers typically ride e-bikes.
But after looking for a long time, he still hadn’t spotted Lin Fan on an e-bike.
A bus drove up and stopped at the sign.
Afraid Lin Fan would arrive by bus and miss him, Lin Dawei moved closer to the bus door.
A crowd of people stepped off the bus, causing a temporary crowding.
A man got off the bus, slightly swaying, and in the congestion, bumped into Lin Dawei’s shoulder.
The man glanced at Lin Dawei and immediately got angry.
"You damned smelly farmer, you bumped into me!" The man cursed at Lin Dawei.
"I’m sorry," Lin Dawei quickly apologized, somewhat startled.
He was an honest farmer. Even though he hadn’t intentionally bumped into the man, and rather the man had bumped into him. He still proactively apologized.
Yet seeing him as easy to bully, instead of letting it go, the man got even more aggressive.
"You filthy like an old dog, dirtying my clothes, think a sorry will settle it? Who the hell gave you that courage!" The man fumed.
Lin Dawei, sick and unfamiliar with the place, combined with his naturally non-aggressive personality, was frightened pale by the man’s curse.
"I’m sorry, what should I do?" Lin Dawei asked timidly, just wanting the man to calm down.
The man responded, "Pay for my clothes. This outfit I just bought a few days ago has been dirtied by you, this stinky old dog!"
Lin Dawei replied, "Okay, I’ll compensate you. How much do you want?"
Lin Dawei trembled as he reached into his pocket, searching for a moment, finally pulling out a well-hidden plastic bag. Inside the bag, there was money wrapped in layers.
The man said, "These clothes are a brand name, just give me 1000 yuan!"
Lin Dawei was shocked, "1000?"
He hardly ever bought new clothes throughout the year. Even if he did, he chose the cheapest, usually just tens of yuan at the market stalls.
yuan for clothes, he had never heard of such a thing.
Yet this man immediately demanded 1000 for compensation!
Lin Dawei was scared pale, "Why are clothes so expensive?"
The man sneered, "Clearly, you’re an ignorant country bumpkin, huh? Ever heard of brand names, like Fan Sizhe? Anyway, I told you to pay, just pay, stop babbling!"
Lin Dawei said, "I only have this much money, and I brought it for treatment. If I give you 1000, I might not have enough to pay the hospital bill. Can you accept a bit less?"
The man angrily said, "No way, you stupid country bumpkin, stop babbling and hand over the money!"
Lin Dawei gripped the plastic bag tightly in his hands, pleading, "Please, reduce the amount. Plus, your clothes aren’t torn; you can wear them if you wash them."
The man’s face darkened, "Damn, my clothes got dirty by you, a smelly old dog, and you think I’d dare wear them again? If you don’t pay up, I’ll beat you, understand?"
Lin Dawei was extremely scared, but he was really unwilling to just hand over 1000 yuan to the other man.
Being a farmer back home growing corn, corn sold for just one yuan per pound. 1000 yuan meant 1000 pounds of corn.
pounds of corn; how hard do you have to work to harvest 1000 pounds?
To pay that much just for a mere bump?
He really didn’t understand the tricks of the city.
Suddenly, he thought of Lin Fan and said, "How about this, my nephew will be here soon. Can I talk to him?"
Little Fan was struggling in the big city, he surely understood more than him. Whether to compensate 1000 yuan or not, Little Fan would definitely know the right decision.
The man, hearing this, lost patience and angrily spat, "To hell with that!"
With a reach, he shoved Lin Dawei.
Lin Dawei stumbled back, ultimately losing his balance, and was knocked to the ground.
"You smelly old dog country bumpkin deserve a beating! You won’t know your place without getting hit." The man cursed, approaching Lin Dawei.
"I’ll ask you one more time, paying up or not?" The man shouted.
Lin Dawei’s hands gripped the plastic bag tightly, unwilling to release it, pleading, "Please, leave me be!"
The man cursed, "Leave you? You don’t even know who I am. I’m from the underground, understand? Dare to mess with me and I’ll beat you to death!"
He raised his hand, aiming a slap at Lin Dawei.
The man actually assaulted the old man in public!
At this moment, everyone around was watching but no one stepped forward to intervene. Firstly, they somewhat disdain Lin Dawei, and secondly, the man seemed drunk and very menacing; who would dare to confront him.
Seeing the man’s hand about to slap Lin Dawei’s head.
Suddenly, a foot came flying from the side, kicking the man, sending him airborne with a thud, landing heavily, dazed.
"You’re asking for it!"
A cold voice came from a handsome young man, his face icy.
Lin Fan!
This sudden action left everyone stunned.
