CHAPTER 124: CHAPTER 125: YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON
Bang!
In such a state of mind as clear as a bright mirror, Lu Ren suddenly felt a latent force deep within him suddenly erupt, sweeping through his limbs and bones in an instant.
In an instant, his muscles were extremely taut but not overly exaggerated. Although the overall muscle dimension expanded by a whole circle, it did not give off any sense of clumsiness, instead, there was a perfect visual impact of a body that united both power and speed.
Under the Lamp of Freedom Observation, it was as if his blood was boiling and burning, with the rapid contraction and expansion of the heart pumping the most surging power throughout his entire body like a machine.
At the same time, Lu Ren suddenly felt as if a mysterious lock deep within his body was temporarily unlocked, presenting a new way to master his physical power before his eyes.
Is this the liberation of the self-protection mechanism?!
How much muscle power can an ordinary person exert, and how strong is the power of muscle tendons?
In a normal state, without training, an average person only uses about thirty to forty percent of their muscles. With professional training, the efficiency can be increased to fifty to sixty percent.
Higher control will form a self-protection mechanism in the body, and if the muscles are used too strongly, it could even break bones. Thus, the subconscious restricts the body’s potential.
And at this moment, because of cultivating the Martial Path, strengthening bones, training muscles, and resonating body and mind under the Lamp of Freedom Observation, with a sudden explosive burst, the body’s muscle restrictions were temporarily lifted, and Lu Ren could feel his body bursting out with unprecedented power.
If this power is fully unleashed, perhaps his bones might shatter.
It exceeds the load he can bear.
This is a life-risking strike!
He could clearly feel his magnetic field seeming to trigger at this moment, expanding erratically, then forming a strange connection with some point.
What is this feeling?
Just as Lu Ren wanted to delve deeper into the sensation, Ksitigarbha’s voice suddenly rang out.
"It’s here!!"
Ksitigarbha’s sudden voice was unable to conceal the joy within, and when Lu Ren looked up, a distinctly irregular oval opening appeared ahead.
Before Lu Ren could react, he felt an irresistible suction instantly draw him into it.
Seeing this scene, Ksitigarbha had no time for hesitation either, involuntarily diving headfirst into the rapidly shrinking secret passage.
"Ding, successfully exited the Treasure Light Secret Realm, action assessment outstanding, you gained a few strands of world fortune in the realm’s demise, transforming... you gained 5 freely allocable attribute points, 3 skill points."
"Ding, upon exiting the vanishing secret realm, a hidden feeling of surviving a calamity arises in your heart, and with a sudden insight, your spirit has greatly improved, and your spirit attribute increased by 1 point."
Reappearing in the center of the Great Heroic Hall of Baoguang Temple, the system prompt in his mind invigorated Lu Ren’s spirit.
In Lu Ren’s view, besides a few cordons and the previously collapsed buildings from Tie Feng, the entire temple seemed eerily silent.
"Finally out!"
Lu Ren took a deep, long breath; the atmosphere of the Treasure Light Buddha Realm was too oppressive, especially with the lack of light, which cast the whole world in a bleak hue, devoid of any sense of vitality and vibrancy.
If one stays in such an environment for too long, they will become depressed, irritable, and eventually insane.
Ksitigarbha was equally as excited, saying, "Out, really out! How many years, how many years it has been!"
He truly was full of bitterness and tears, having survived hard through the dissolution of his flesh, leaving only a golden skeleton to suppress Subodhi and live on.
As someone like him, with only a spiritual presence without a body, every second of life was a torment. The only consolation was a golden skeleton formed from his original body that allowed him to survive.
After calming down for a while, Ksitigarbha gratefully spoke to Lu Ren.
"Thank you, benefactor, you are truly a great person. A good man will surely have eight sons in the future and produce relics upon cremation! As the green hills don’t change, the green waters flow forever; we shall meet again if destined!"
After saying these words, Ksitigarbha turned to leave. Just after taking two steps, his skeleton halted, turning back his hollow eye sockets to look at Lu Ren.
"Brother Lu, what is this for?"
Lu Ren replied solemnly, "The current era is not like the past; traveling like this is too dangerous. A small mistake may cause considerable harm."
Ksitigarbha chuckled helplessly, "I’m not someone of Subodhi’s caliber. How could I cause any harm? What I’ve done all my life can be called great virtue and great philanthropy! I plan to find a place for nirvana, living so many years has been too torturous."
"You wish to attain nirvana?"
Ksitigarbha nodded, "Certainly, crossing the Sea of Suffering is difficult; this life is unbearable. Only in the next life is there a possibility."
"Don’t you not believe in the next life?"
"Of course not, I only wish to disperse my Qi back to heaven and earth. Perhaps a child may accept it and thus comprehend latent wisdom."
Latent wisdom.
Lu Ren sneered, "Isn’t that considered possession?"
"Of course not, it’s simply comprehending my latent wisdom. The other’s consciousness remains intact; I’m merely a piece of knowledge, a part of understanding."
Ksitigarbha spoke with great abandon.
"One should leave something behind."
Seeing Lu Ren silent, he directly took out the iron box from the Treasure Light Secret Realm which could be used as a mirror, and placed it against his ear, somewhat anxiously asking, "What do you intend to do?"
"I want to turn you over to the country."
As soon as Lu Ren said this, he almost couldn’t hold back his laughter, too out of character.
But it had to be said, it’s a rather good choice. Unlike ancient times, with satellites and surveillance everywhere, if Ksitigarbha were seen, it would truly be out of character.
"Ha?! You want to turn me over to the court?!" Ksitigarbha exclaimed, "Are you out of your mind?"
"This era is different from the one you were in."
"What’s different? A poor Taoist could casually find a mountain to sit on and live well enough, couldn’t I?"
"That’s not possible!"
Lu Ren replied, muttering inwardly, modern society is not like ancient times, with advanced technology, surveillance cameras, and high-end monitoring equipment everywhere. Allowing Ksitigarbha to walk around like that might cause big trouble.
Ksitigarbha was anxious, "Didn’t we agree before!"
"We agreed to come out of the secret realm together, but we didn’t discuss what to do afterward," Lu Ren tried to calm his tone, "Rest assured, at most they might just do some slice research, grind a bit of bone powder, and explore some new things. If something is discovered, perhaps you might even be reborn."
Ksitigarbha was clearly skeptical, looking as if he didn’t believe Lu Ren at all.
"Do not mock me for being illiterate, how could there be such a matter in the world."
Lu Ren was also quite skeptical, given that modern science had not delved deeply into the research of the soul, not even having basic foundational theories. If people from the Buddhist and Taoist lineages learned about Ksitigarbha, it might drive them mad.
