CHAPTER 73: CHAPTER 73 YOU USE DUAL PISTOLS
"It’s Yin Soldiers!" Rita’s face was full of disbelief: "This is the Governor’s Mansion in the Inner City, and Governor Li Bing is a Martial Path expert. How could such an ominous presence like Yin Soldiers appear here!"
"Are they physical or as elusive as Yin Souls?"
Lu Ren’s concern was evidently different from Rita’s; for him, as long as it’s a tangible entity he can fight, it’s something he can deal with. But energy creatures like Yin Souls are a bit daunting.
Lu Ren heard from Li Ziqing that once the Phoenix Falcon Fist reaches Great Perfection, there is a chance to achieve higher levels in the Fist Realm, allowing the Spirit to truly be utilized, further elevating and combining with the body, thus obtaining unimaginably mysterious phenomena.
But Lu Ren was two stages away from achieving Great Perfection in Phoenix Falcon Fist, and given this level, each step up would require a considerable amount of time.
If he wanted to advance more quickly, it would require engaging in battles that the skill proficiency system clearly tempts him toward.
Killing enemies or gaining proficiency through fierce combat gives far more skill than casual practice.
This title of instigation is inevitable.
Hearing Lu Ren’s remarks, Rita couldn’t help but glance at him, seemingly surprised that Lu Ren’s train of thought focused on this point. But upon reconsideration, Lu Ren couldn’t conjure the Blood Qi Power, hence couldn’t attack these Yin Souls and malevolent entities, naturally requiring a focus on this aspect.
Rita replied: "Between tangible and intangible, but these Yin Soldiers rely on the armor. Once the armor is shattered, they can’t survive."
He paused slightly, lowering his voice further: "By no means, do not disturb these monsters, or the consequences will be extremely terrifying."
"How so terrifying?" Lu Ren asked with keen interest.
"Yin Soldier’s gaze brings deep misfortune and curses, leading ultimately to an extremely bizarre death. It’s said these beings are the soldiers under the command of some intelligent terrifying existence from the Underworld."
"Give an example." Lu Ren showed considerable interest in these eerie entities.
Rita couldn’t help but glance at Lu Ren; under such peril, his demeanor remained utterly calm, without the slightest tension.
Truly resilient in spirit; it’s no wonder that, despite not being able to master Blood Qi Power, he’s trained his body to such an astonishing level.
Completely unaware of being elevated to an exceedingly high level by others, Lu Ren watched below at nearly a hundred men forming a snake-like formation, advancing toward the dense mist ahead, unclear of the destination.
Where do those suddenly arose mists lead?
Before Lu Ren could ponder, Rita weighed the situation, finally looking around and ensuring that the eaves they were crouched upon were temporarily safe, then began explaining: "Initially, there’ll be signs of pica, followed by the body’s growth of coarse hair, increasingly covering the entire body. Then the hair solidifies to form Yin Soldier armor, ultimately transforming into one of them. This often occurs when people are in their later years, during periods of poor constitution.
If discovered in time, you need to burn them immediately."
Old age misfortune, growing hair on the body?!
Rita coughed twice, seemingly finding this depiction quite amusing, nearly breaking into laughter, momentarily disrupting the heavy atmosphere.
A little off the tone.
Lu Ren turned to look at Rita, somewhat speechless; this is certainly a daring character,
He slightly furrowed his brows, his posture somewhat crouched, tightly adhering to the eaves. If it’s truly as Rita described, as long as a disturbance is created and noticed by the Yin Soldiers, the curse mechanism activates, entangled by some bizarre force, leading to assimilation, a puzzling infection entirely beyond Lu Ren’s imagination.
It feels a bit like a meme, an information transmission infection mechanism.
Clearly, this world harbors many exceedingly terrifying secrets.
These entities, as far as Lu Ren is concerned, the less interaction the better!
After silently waiting for half a quarter-hour, the two watched quietly as the Yin Soldiers all entered the depths of the mist ahead, the fog slowly dispersing, leaving no trace of them.
"Follow me."
Rita no longer hesitated, spoke, then swiftly moved toward the side hall.
As for Lu Ren, after rapidly going over the agility proficiency information that popped up in his mind from before, he unhesitatingly followed closely behind Rita.
The side hall was a typical eastern-style palace building, though called a side hall, it occupied quite a large area.
Lu Ren and Rita nimbly leapt through the window.
Entering the side hall, what met Lu Ren’s eyes was a figure resembling a short old man, dressed in a brown monk robe, with earlobes longer than average, long eyebrows, and hands folded in sleeves, staring at the two entering individuals with a look of surprise and bewilderment, seemingly not expecting anyone to appear here.
"Oh dear, oh dear, how can there be people here, what is to be done, what is to be done?!"
The old man, sleeves folded, approached the two with a somewhat troubled expression.
Seeing this, Rita didn’t say much, his waist, adorned with a demon-exorcising talisman, suddenly ignited, forcing him to decisively throw it aside, his expression drastically changing as he warned in a low voice: "Careful, this old man carries heavy Yin energy, he’s likely not human!"
The old man grinned: "Can only eat, can only eat..."
Bang!
A muffled gunshot rang out instantly; the old man’s disproportionately large head compared to his body burst like a watermelon, red, white, and yellow splattered all over the room.
Rita stared in dumbfounded amazement at the wavering appearance of the old man being shot, clearly feeling a hot breath closely trailing him, fired toward the old man.
"Ding, with a heavy pistol you blew the head off the Slippery Ghost, you have an insight into firearms."
The abrupt system message in Lu Ren’s mind didn’t steal his attention; his gaze was filled with solemnity, without any ease of taking a shot.
The Slippery Ghost’s headless body abruptly steadied, then from the neck, numerous cellular tendril structures frenziedly danced.
Quite repulsive and shocking.
It was rapidly forming a head!
Rita exclaimed, "Buddy, let’s hurry out of here, this Slippery Ghost is an extremely formidable entity among Demon Ghosts, without top-tier power, it’s impossible to confront it!"
Hearing this, Lu Ren didn’t hesitate at all, wielded dual pistols and fired eight rapid shots; the custom high-explosive armor-piercing rounds shot through the recovering Slippery Ghost until only a half-broken skeleton remained, dreadfully terrifying.
"Ding, your dual pistols caused effective damage to the Slippery Ghost, you have an insight into firearms."
"Ding, your dual pistols caused effective damage to the Slippery Ghost, you have an insight into firearms."
"Ding, your dual pistols caused..."
A series of system beeps echoed in Lu Ren’s mind, but there was no time to sort them out.
Yet, for all that, the Slippery Ghost still didn’t die, its body cells continued proliferating, faster and larger.
