CHAPTER 1130: SECTION 701: AUTUMN WIND HEADING SOUTH (1)_2
"Trust me, your armor is more reliable than this thing." After saying this, Sage Fang patted Konen’s large bald head and then walked to the cockpit. Through the helmet, he patted the head of the Domestic Fairy pilot: "Malin’s communication channel is 157423. After sending them into the Dark Zone, remember to return to the airborne ship in the sky and maintain contact."
"Yes, Sage Fang." The Domestic Fairy nodded.
Malin confirmed the channel on the headset and verified communication with the pilot. The team members also did confirmations as well. It is said that this thing uses a relay system, and in the Dark Zone, the high altitude data relay is done by large airborne ships—not the anti-gravity kind Malin imagined, but rather small platforms based on hot air balloon principles, basically positioned below the stratosphere. The upper layer can dock several small flying boats, the lower layer is the human resting area and relay system placement zone.
Usually, these airborne ships aren’t large, as their size targets would be too evident and dangerous over the Dark Zone—who knows if what runs on the ground happens to have anti-air and counter capabilities.
Regarding the lifting of the flying boat, Konen expressed the utmost awe towards this kind of thing. In his memory, the best mechanical creation within the city-state of biochem humans is motorcycles, which belong to the Thainan caravan. They are usually able to help transport some things, but when the fleet arrives, motorcycles have to first service Thainan fleets.
Jason expressed a certain degree of respect—he knew exactly how much effort it required to make such a thing fly again, and so he asked Bei Luo about the power system of this contraption.
Although Malin’s area also has this device, it was repaired by patching together parts that existed before the Great Destruction, so in terms of quantity compared to Eastern Land... what’s there to compare? Simply no contest.
After takeoff, Malin saw at least thirty.
"Sage Yu, how come you have so many flying boats?" Malin expressed his curiosity.
"Because we rebuilt the repair factories, just between New Anzhou and New Hangzhou. Every year we can manufacture two hundred flying boats and at least one hundred sets of repair parts. Although we can’t update the systems yet, they are advantageous for transporting some urgent goods and special operations." Sage Yu explained.
Malin nodded: "That’s really enviable."
"Can’t you find any in Westland, Mr. Jason?" Sage Yu asked.
"Don’t even mention it, all four of our repair factories are in the Dark Zone, each one more dangerous than the last. Comparatively, the easiest one to recover is in Switzerland, but it’s the main camp for Swiss zombies. These things grow quickly, forming a dark tide every five years or so. To recover that factory, we’d need about two hundred thousand troops and countless supplies, and the roads there are terrible, many of them have long been destroyed. Logistics for twenty thousand people along the way would likely drive any King crazy." Speaking of this, Jason was clearly full of anger: "You’re really lucky."
To this, Bei Luo provided the answer: "Not really. To recover the repair factories, a legendary hero fell in battle against the Great Chaos Demon occupying the factory, becoming the Earthbound True Monarch bound by obsession, and the sacrifices of mortals numbered up to sixty thousand."
"What a noble ambition justified by sacrifice." Malin sighed.
Sage Yu let out a similar sigh: "Indeed, sir, what a noble ambition justified by sacrifice, we Thanans have paid too much for today, sir."
"I know." Malin nodded heavily.
"Sage Yu, Mr. Malin, we need to start descending. Ahead is the Dark Zone, and recently there have been occasional strong magnetic storms that interfere with our communications and prevent flying boat flight, so please make sure to plan your route well and avoid getting surrounded, or it could be dangerous if rescue cannot arrive in time." The pilot said while maneuvering the flying boat for landing.
In the small camp below, there were people, but they didn’t seem panicked at all, and even a figure resembling a captain ran over to the landing spot. Once Sage Yu jumped down, this person ran up and saluted him: "Salutations to you, Sage Yu."
"Don’t salute me like that on the battlefield, Captain Zhang, we are here to enter the Dark Zone this time." As Sage Yu spoke, he put on what looked like a protective mask similar to a gas mask.
"Sage Fang has already sent a message, please be careful on the way." After speaking, this young captain curiously glanced at Konen, then turned his attention to Malin: "Sir, you are the Sage from Westland, aren’t you?"
"Yes, hello." Malin extended his hand.
The young man, extremely honored, shook hands with Malin, then signaled the Guards at the camp to open the gate.
Malin pulled out his favorite .50 revolver from the gun holster on his waist and pulled the trigger towards the opened gate, causing a Chaos to fall from the void.
Malin continued to pull the trigger twice, and two more Chaos capable of optical camouflage fell to the ground—these things looked like insects, with compound eyes... how come they seemed like biological insect armor.
"Wow, nice shooting." The pilot already airborne exclaimed in the channel.
Malin began to reload as he walked towards the gate.
Sage Yu followed beside Malin, raising a small firearm in his left hand and motioning with his right for several City Guards to step aside: "Malin, are there any more monsters?"
