Sticking to Mr.Chairman in This Life
Chapter 539: Not Angry Anymore, Right?
CHAPTER 539: CHAPTER 539: NOT ANGRY ANYMORE, RIGHT?
Chu Yihan arrived at the Rose Garden just as Su Ge was already sipping tea in the garden’s pavilion.
He lifted his foot, ready to head towards the pavilion, when he suddenly stepped out and realized something was amiss, his gaze sharply turning towards the courtyard.
He saw that the roses which should have been blooming in a contiguous expanse were now missing by half.
A large swath of the flower branches stood bare, not a single rose in sight.
What happened?
His face swiftly darkened, and Chu Yihan instantly turned his gaze towards the maids in the courtyard.
The servants all bowed their heads to avoid his gaze, yet their eyes kept darting towards the little woman drinking tea in the pavilion.
Chu Yihan had intended to directly question these maids.
But the maids’ glances caused him to hesitate.
What did it mean, the disappearance of these roses was related to Su Xiaoge?
But within such a brief span of time during his rush here, Su Xiaoge had somehow picked half of his roses?
Was this woman some kind of sorceress...
Since he wasn’t certain who had actually wrecked the roses, he suddenly felt at a loss, as if it was not right to blame her, yet not right to stay silent.
Eventually, probably out of concern for blaming the wrong person, he refrained from questioning anyone and strode towards the pavilion.
Sitting opposite the little woman, he watched as she sipped her tea, seemingly ignoring his presence completely, and he poured himself a cup of tea.
With the teacup in hand, the man drank absentmindedly.
His eyes kept drifting to the missing flowers in the Rose Garden, filled with puzzlement.
In such a short time, Su Xiaoge surely wouldn’t have had the means to pick half the roses in the yard.
What had happened to his Rose Garden?
Although Su Ge appeared to be absorbed in her tea, her peripheral vision occasionally swept over the man.
Seeing him gaze sorrowfully at the bare flower branches of the Rose Garden without a trace of anger on his face, she felt slightly relieved.
"The night you left for your business trip, a torrential downpour hit Rong City, and many roses were lost in the heavy rain," Su Ge finally spoke softly.
The man’s gaze immediately shot towards her.
The little woman, however, didn’t look at him, petulantly gazing aside, a flicker passing through her eyes.
"Su Xiaoge, are you talking to me?"
At this moment, what concerned the man wasn’t the roses at all; he looked at the little woman across from him who had been ignoring him, delighted.
She was speaking to him, wasn’t she?
Su Ge didn’t respond, silently lifting the teacup on the table and taking a sip.
The man immediately put down his cup and stood up to walk towards her.
Just as Su Ge had taken a sip, the man leaned in close to her, lifting her chin with one hand and gazing at her intently, "Su Xiaoge, you’re not angry anymore, are you?"
"You don’t care about your roses anymore?" Su Ge raised her beautiful eyebrows.
Could it be that he truly didn’t mind at all that such a large swath of roses was gone?
"How could roses compare to you?" The man, seeing that she was indeed willing to speak to him, loosened his grip on her chin, seemingly pleased, "If they’re beaten down by the rain, then let them be. There are still many roses left in the courtyard. If you like, you can use the petals for a bath or to make tea; it’s fine."
"Really?"
Su Ge looked at the man incredulously.
The roses meant so much to him; could he truly not care about their fate?
"The condition is, Su Xiaoge, you mustn’t ignore me anymore."
He always had his priorities.
Su Ge had initially wanted to use this opportunity to take a gamble.
She hadn’t expected to win.
