CHAPTER 36: THEY’RE FINALLY HERE

Silas closed his eyes, then opened them after a few seconds. Everyone was at alert from the sudden knocking, wondering who it was that paid them a visit at this time of the night.

"What a nuisance." Silas rubbed his face as he dropped his fork. He was already finished with his meal anyway, and he had time to see one or two visitors, "I’ll be back in a minute."

"Be careful," Ice advised, watching Silas gulp down his glass of water before he stood to his feet, as she lowered her gaze to a half empty plate of pasta, "Should I join you outside?"

Silas shook his head, then he walked out of the dining room. The door to the diner was always open, so he didn’t bother locking it, "I don’t feel comfortable leaving Ether in there."

|Keyboard Warrior— Chat, she’s going to eat them alive.

|Jennifer Lakes2003— Why not just take her with you?

"It’s too dangerous. I could be offering her into the wrong hands if I make a mistake." A calculative gleam flashed in Silas’ eyes as he walked down the stares, "I need to see them."

Only after understanding the needs of his guests could he involve the others. Ether and Ice possessed things Silas needed for himself, so endangering them was out of the question.

The second he completed the descent down the stairs, Silas paused. He took in a breath of air, then marched to the door, his entire transforming into a metal, "Iron Reinforcement."

Silas opened the door then stepped outside. The second his feet touched the ground, his pupils narrowed to needlepoint and he spun around to the side, dodging a fiery ray of light.

The straight beam tore through the air particles, striking into the ground behind Silas, a straight line of smoke rising from the hole. He stared at this then lifted his gaze to the gate.

It was a man with spiky blue hair, who wore a black coat as he crouched on the far left of the gate. He wore a gauntlet over his hands, his blue eyes gleaming as he glared at Silas.

"You— you’re the one that killed Henry?" The man eyed Silas, his cape scattering in the wind as he stood to his feet. His put one hand in his pockets, smirking, "You must be mad."

"Oh, really?" Silas scoffed, then he entered a fighting stance as his grey aura stretched out from his body. He tightened his fists, then taunted, "Aren’t you going to make a move?"

"Please, call me Verona." The blue haired man said as he calmly pointed his finger at a motionless Silas, his pupils flashing in a new light, "and this is my, Symphony of Madness."

A golden particle circled around his finger, then seven beams of light appeared behind Verona and fired straight toward Silas. Each of the beams moved at relatively high speeds.

"What is this music?" Silas frowned as four low notes and three higher notes assaulted his ears. He blinked then dashed to the side, only to see his blood splattering into the wind.

’My blood?’ Silas questioned in his heart, lowering his gaze to his chest. His heart raced as he saw the seven holes in his body— each oozing out blood —then his expression changed.

He landed on the ground, rolling across the grass the second he got a footing. Just after he’d rolled away, three spots on the ground he’d last stood blew up in a rhythmic sequence.

"It’s developing into a tempo." Silas frowned as he shadow stepped to the side and four more spots exploded by his side. Even with metallic reinforcement, taking these would hurt.

He’d noticed it quickly, this wasn’t ordinary boss music. As the music played in his head and Verona aimed with his fingers, attacks would go off in an area— each in a form of light.

Silas heaved as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face. High notes played when the lights were aimed above his waist, and low notes played when those lights aimed lower.

"Sadly, I don’t know much about music." Silas groaned after glancing at the cuts across his left arm and the holes in his chest and torso. He could one guess which note was played.

"Now, let’s raise the tempo." Verona grinned, stretching five fingers towards Silas. In an instant, thirty five beams of light were fired from behind him, each was fired towards Silas.

Seeing the lights, Silas took a calm deep breath. The music in his head played at a faster rate, making it more difficult for him to follow then his pupils dilated, "I can’t dodge them."

His field of vision was covered in these blinding lights, and there was humanly possible way he could weave through them. If they caught him, he’d surely get ripped to tiny pieces.

"I need to use multiple skills simultaneously." Silas quickly discerned, then he slammed his fist into the ground. Pillars of ice emerged from the earth, creating a shield around him.

Some lights were reflected off harder pillars while others burned right through, coming for Silas at full speed. Silas released his reinforcement to dodge the beams at a faster speed.

He reached out his hand, preparing to rip out the pillars with telekinesis and divert the beams back to their user, but they dispersed mid-air. Suddenly, the music in his head froze.

Silas narrowed his eyes, clenching his fists and dashing in a straight line. He moved at a speed so high he left a mirage where he’d stood, grabbing Verona with the smirk on his face.

Only after he was picked off the gate and sent in the air did Verona notice he was been choked by Silas, then his expression shifted from glee to shock, "You could move this fast?"

Silas thew a jab with his left hand, smacking his knuckles into Verona’s nose. Before he could follow up, Verona grabbed Silas’ neck before delivering a powerful punch to his face.

"I’m going to kill you." Silas said in a calm voice as he squeezed his hand tight, feeling little resistance the harder he tightened his hand. Unlike some people, this wasn’t a beast.

"While I play with you, someone is sneaking in to play with the others." Verona put a bright grin on his face as he also squeezed hard on Silas’ neck, "Who’s going to die first?"

Silas didn’t even flinch after hearing that, squeezing his hand even tighter. Sadly, he would never get to hear the beautiful piece this idiot had written for him, "Disintegrate."
