STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 437: Part 1: Facing a multitude
CHAPTER 437: PART 1: FACING A MULTITUDE
City C (14th Zone): Wilderness
Harris said, "Alright, everyone should focus on the corrupted beasts right now."
Hearing this, the male and three female beast tamers fell silent. They began to pay close attention to their surroundings.
The worm beasts could appear at any moment.
"You should stand behind me," Harris instructed.
Jeremy Night didn’t argue. He and his Head Guard positioned themselves behind Harris.
Harris also started scanning the surroundings.
Meanwhile, the scent of the special liquid had reached a group of worm beasts, including a Tier-5 Worm Beast and several Tier-4 Worm Beasts.
The Tier-5 Worm Beast awoke from its recovery, its injuries not yet fully healed.
However, the alluring smell was too strong. The Tier-5 Worm Beast wanted to investigate, and the Tier-4 and lower-tier worm beasts had a similar reaction.
The scent from the hundred bottles had also attracted other dangerous corrupted beasts, including insect-type corrupted beasts, scorpions, and centipedes.
Among them, the strongest were Tier-4 and Tier-3 corrupted beasts, unlike the Tier-5 Worm Beast. The lower-tier beasts began rushing toward the source of the smell.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Night used his eye ability to observe the area. Initially, he had intended to locate the Tier-5 Worm Beast.
However, Commander Harris’s words made him realize his mistake. He had been careless.
Though the chances of encountering high-tier beasts were low, a large number of lower-tier beasts could be drawn to the special liquid’s scent.
So, he waited for the corrupted beasts to appear. The Head Guard, a Tier-4 Beast Tamer, understood the situation.
His job was to protect Young Master Jeremy Night from the corrupted beasts, but he knew Jeremy could handle a Tier-5 Beast on his own.
He resolved to do his part to assist the young master.
Harris and the four beast tamers remained vigilant.
Boom!
Not long after, low-tier beasts appeared in their line of sight, flying insects over three to four feet in height.
There were more than fifty of them, all Tier-2 and Tier-3 corrupted beasts.
The sight of the bug-type corrupted beasts caused everyone’s expressions to change drastically.
The male beast tamer, furious, turned to Jeremy and said, "Told you so."
Jeremy didn’t respond. Instead, he focused on the bug-type corrupted beasts. He had never encountered them in such large numbers before.
"Okay, clear them out," Harris ordered.
At his command, everyone began using their talents to kill the bug-type corrupted beasts.
Harris refrained from fighting, instead observing the surroundings for larger threats.
No one summoned their lifeline beasts, as eliminating the low-tier corrupted beasts was manageable.
Jeremy drew his blade to attack, choosing not to use his starlight energy.
Slash!
A simple swing of his blade was enough to kill a beast. The bug-type beasts began attacking the group.
Puchak!
Jeremy Night effortlessly cut them down, cleaving the small-sized bug beasts in two.
Blood splattered on the ground, but he didn’t stop swinging his katana blade.
As time passed, he continued to kill the corrupted beasts with ease. The Head Guard of the Night Family did his part as well.
Harris observed everything, unsurprised. However, the four beast tamers were shocked. They knew Jeremy Night was only a Tier-2 Beast Tamer.
Yet, he was taking down Tier-2 and Tier-3 corrupted beasts effortlessly without using his lifeline beasts.
Time passed, and within an hour, all fifty-plus Tier-2 and Tier-3 corrupted beasts were dead.
The ground was soaked with beast blood, and the beast tamers’ clothes were drenched as well.
Suddenly, Harris raised his eyebrows. He sensed something dangerous approaching.
"Get back!" he shouted. "The Tier-5 Worm Beast is probably here!"
The four beast tamers quickly moved behind Harris.
Jeremy instructed his Head Guard to stand behind him, sensing that the Tier-5 Worm Beast might target him first.
Boom!
A few hundred meters ahead, the ground exploded. A Tier-5 Worm Beast, over twenty feet tall, emerged from the earth.
Following it were ten Tier-4 Worm Beasts and more than twenty Tier-3 Worm Beasts.
The special liquid had also attracted other hidden corrupted beasts. Several scorpions and centipedes emerged from the bushes.
The beast tamers were stunned.
Jeremy squinted his eyes and immediately coated his blade with starlight energy.
"Take down the Tier-4 beasts," Harris said before charging toward the Tier-5 Worm Beast.
The Tier-5 Worm Beast spotted the human beast tamers and recognized one of them as prey from the previous day.
Possessing intelligence, it deduced that the humans had lured it out with the special smell, which ended at this spot.
It noticed a middle-aged human charging toward it and felt a sense of danger.
Swoosh!
The Tier-5 Worm Beast attempted to flee, burrowing underground. Harris, keeping his eyes on the beast, pursued it.
Meanwhile, the four beast tamers summoned their lifeline beasts to deal with the Tier-4 corrupted beasts.
"Young Master, I’ll take care of it," the Head Guard said before stepping forward to face the corrupted beasts.
He summoned his lifeline beast to fight as well.
Jeremy remained still, silently observing the situation. The Tier-5 Worm Beast had come and fled, but something felt off. He couldn’t pinpoint it, but he trusted his instincts.
Something else was here.
Pfff!
A worm beast lunged at him. Jeremy swung his blade downward, cleaving it in two.
Blood spread across the ground as he continued to strike at the beasts approaching him, all while keeping an eye on the surroundings.
Occasionally, the male beast tamer glanced at Jeremy. Seeing the young man holding his own, he was shocked to the core.
The female beast tamers were even more terrified. They had never heard of this young man before, and they were astounded that he was fighting without using his lifeline beasts.
Then they turned to their own battles. As time passed, the team became separated as they tried to chase the fleeing beasts.
Only Jeremy Night and the Head Guard remained, standing and fighting at the original spot.
Jeremy told the Head Guard to stay back, saying he would venture deeper to investigate. The Head Guard hesitated.
But Jeremy assured him that he was only going to scout the area and would return soon.
