STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 438: Part 2: Facing a multitude
CHAPTER 438: PART 2: FACING A MULTITUDE
City C (Wilderness):
Jeremy left the area and ventured deep into the wilderness, heading in a different direction from Harris and his team.
He had a reason for this. For some time, he had been feeling an unusual sensation coming from this direction. Now, he realized it was a faint sense of crisis.
Initially, he thought it was related to the Tier-5 Worm Beast, but he was now certain it had nothing to do with it.
The sense of crisis stemmed from something else, though he didn’t share this with the Head Guard.
The Head Guard might be shocked, and more importantly, he could report it to Jeremy’s father.
Jeremy didn’t want his father or others to worry, so he decided to confirm his suspicions first.
About ten minutes later, he was deep within the wilderness. The area was vast and open, filled with boulders of varying sizes.
Some of the mountain rocks were taller than a human. Jeremy’s eyes scanned the surroundings. He thought this rocky terrain was unsuitable for worm beasts to inhabit.
The ground was filled with rocks, and the underground likely contained more. So, where was this sense of crisis coming from?
Jeremy Night used his eye ability to scan the area, activating his second ability. The ground’s surface became transparent.
He could see one or two inches beneath the surface, but there were no signs of corrupted beasts. Just as he was about to deactivate his ability, he saw something shocking.
A black and blue horn became visible. Following it, he saw the head and the rest of the creature’s body.
It was over twenty feet long and six feet tall, a massive lizard-type corrupted beast, sleeping underground.
Its size suggested it was at least a Tier-5 corrupted beast, possibly higher.
The earlier fight must have disturbed its slumber. Jeremy continued to examine the creature, noting its hard, scaly skin.
Its legs bore sharp, claw-like talons, capable of tearing through a lifeline beast.
Jeremy didn’t move an inch from his spot. The horned lizard was resting, and any movement could wake it.
If it was a Tier-5 corrupted beast, he might manage, but if it turned out to be Tier-6 or higher, they would need Harris’s help.
Jeremy waited, hoping Elder Harris would find him first.
But soon, the ongoing fight continued to disturb the sleeping lizard. It suddenly opened its vertical eyes.
At the same time, Jeremy noticed this and took a few steps backward.
Boom!
The ground exploded as the massive lizard emerged. The next second, its oppressive aura spread across the area.
The pressure hit Jeremy, forcing him to retreat a couple of steps.
"Tier-6," Jeremy uttered in surprise.
He wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or alarmed. He had lured out another dangerous beast, one even more formidable than the Tier-5 Worm Beast.
If he hadn’t discovered it now, it might have attacked the city later.
The Horned Lizard spotted the human prey and unleashed its anger. It swung its tail suddenly.
The lizard’s tail appeared in a flash before Jeremy Night. He quickly used the flat side of his blade to block it.
Boom!
The tail struck the blade, and the impact sent Jeremy’s body flying backward like a projectile.
He arced through the air before crashing to the ground. Unfortunately, he was deep in the inner wilderness, far from help, as the others were fighting elsewhere.
The Horned Lizard, enraged by its disturbed sleep, wouldn’t easily rest again. It moved toward the human prey, intent on consuming him to regain its energy.
Each step of the Horned Lizard created a booming sound as it advanced.
A hundred meters away, Jeremy leaned against a large tree, blood dripping from his forehead.
He hadn’t expected to be injured so badly. As he struggled to stand, he heard loud footsteps.
His eyes flickered with understanding—the lizard was coming for him. Already badly hurt, he knew he’d be trampled if he didn’t move.
With maximum effort, he stood up.
Using his eyesight, he saw the Horned Lizard approaching. He sheathed his katana blade and drew his handgun, coating the bullets with starlight energy.
As the Horned Lizard closed within a couple of meters, he fired.
Bang!
The starlight bullet shot in a straight line, striking the lizard’s head in rapid succession.
Boom! Boom!
Small explosions occurred, but none of the bullets pierced the lizard’s skin. They fell to the ground, ineffective.
Jeremy was stunned. He knew the Tier-6 Lizard was strong, but he hadn’t expected the bullets to fail completely.
The Horned Lizard, now annoyed, quickened its pace.
Seeing this, Jeremy ran backward. He knew it was foolish to confront the beast directly, only Harris could handle it.
A few minutes later, he noticed the Horned Lizard still pursuing him. He changed direction, leading it away from the city.
The massive Horned Lizard followed, tracking the human beast tamer.
Meanwhile, after some struggle, Harris had forced the Tier-5 Worm Beast to surface. He could only fight it effectively above ground.
If the beast escaped underground again, it would be difficult to deal with.
So, Harris engaged the Tier-5 Corrupted Worm Beast, unaware of the danger surrounding Jeremy Night.
If he didn’t find Jeremy soon, the young man could find himself in a dire situation.
Meanwhile,
The four beast tamers were still battling corrupted beasts, as the special liquid continued to attract those living in the area.
The male beast tamer was furious. He knew they were occupied because of Jeremy Night. There was no sign of Elder Harris returning.
Their lifeline beasts were growing exhausted as well.
On the other hand, the Head Guard was overwhelmed by the presence of numerous low-tier beasts. If he didn’t act, these beasts could charge straight toward the city.
So, he created a gap between himself and the beasts. Then, he took out a digital device to report to the Family Head.
He called Family Head Ron Night and briefed him. Ron Night was dumbfounded. He hadn’t known his son Jeremy was out there as well. He was shocked to the core.
