Chapter 440: Part 2: Horned Lizard
CHAPTER 440: PART 2: HORNED LIZARD
Wilderness:
The Night Family Head Guard was fighting while awaiting support. It didn’t take long for help to arrive, including the Head Guards of the Ross and Glass Families.
Upon their arrival, they began battling the corrupted beasts, giving the Night Family Head Guard some breathing room. He recalled his lifeline beasts and started surveying the area.
Not only had the other family Head Guards arrived, but Patrol Guards had come to his aid as well. As a Tier-4 Beast Tamer, he decided to take the risk and venture deeper into the wilderness.
He informed the other two family Head Guards and the Patrol Guards of his plan, but they refused to let him go.
The intensity of the beast attacks had grown stronger, as a new wave of corrupted beasts had appeared, drawn by the special liquid’s scent lingering in the area.
The others were clueless about the cause of these attacks. They didn’t understand why the beasts kept coming.
The Night Family Head Guard was frustrated, as the corrupted beasts continued to swarm the area relentlessly. He believed the attacks would persist until the scent of the oil dissipated.
---
Meanwhile:
Elder Harris had successfully lured out the Tier-5 Worm Beast earlier and inflicted severe injuries on it.
However, the beast kept escaping underground after each attack, forcing Harris to repeatedly draw it out.
This was taking up his time. According to Harris, there was only one Tier-5 Worm Beast, but something was troubling him, an uneasy feeling he couldn’t pinpoint.
While fighting the Tier-5 Worm Beast, he grew increasingly disturbed. He didn’t know the source of his unease, but it prompted him to resolve to kill the beast more quickly.
---
On the other hand, Jeremy was still trapped in the small pit. He noticed that it was well past noon, and evening was approaching. He was counting on Elder Harris and the others to arrive soon, wondering why they were taking so long.
Jeremy pulled out his digital device, only to find the battery was dead. His expression darkened. He believed he wasn’t far from his previous location.
---
The City Governors continued to receive live updates, but there was no news about Jeremy Night. He had ventured deep into the wilderness alone.
Ron Night ordered the Head Guard to search for his son, stating that the others could handle the corrupted beasts.
If the Head Guard failed to find Jeremy, Ron resolved to go into the wilderness himself.
The other two City Governors understood his reasoning. They hadn’t expected Jeremy to take such a risk again. They were relieved that Petra Ross and Levy Glass were under house arrest and unable to leave.
---
Time Passed:
As evening approached, Jeremy Night decided to take action. The daylight was fading, and night would soon follow.
The pain in his body had subsided, and he could move again. Slowly, he tried to stand without making noise.
When he poked his head out, he saw the massive body of the Horned Lizard nearby. Using his eye ability, he observed that the beast was sleeping, its eyes closed. Carefully, he crawled out of the pit and stood on his feet.
He glanced at the Horned Lizard again, surprised to find this moment of peace. He had expected to be attacked or chased, but instead, he stood unnoticed in front of the beast.
Using his eye ability to scan the surroundings, he confirmed there were no other corrupted beasts nearby. He decided to leave quietly.
Moving slowly away from the area, he kept a vigilant eye on his surroundings as he headed back toward his previous location.
A few minutes later, Jeremy successfully distanced himself from the Horned Lizard’s area. As he followed the path, he encountered the Night Family Head Guard.
The Head Guard, exhausted but relieved, brightened upon seeing Jeremy. He rushed to his side and asked, "Young Master, where have you been?"
Jeremy smiled upon seeing the Head Guard and ordered him to guide him back to the previous location. The Head Guard was stunned but noticed Jeremy’s serious expression. Without hesitation, he led the way.
About thirty minutes later, Jeremy returned to the original spot. He saw the Head Guards of the Ross and Glass Families but no sign of Elder Harris or the other Beast Tamers.
As he wondered about them, he spotted Elder Harris and the four Beast Tamers approaching from the opposite side. Harris looked exhausted, which surprised Jeremy.
Harris noticed Jeremy Night as well. He walked up to him and said, "The special liquid’s scent has expired. There won’t be any more problems. I’ve killed the Tier-5 Worm Beast."
"We’ve eliminated the other Tier-4 Beasts," the male Beast Tamer added. "But this was all because of you. You put everyone’s life at risk."
Harris grew angry at the accusation. "Rory," he said sharply, stopping the male Beast Tamer from further complaints. The three female Beast Tamers tensed.
Jeremy heard the accusation but ignored it. Instead, he said, "There’s still one major threat that needs to be addressed."
Everyone was stunned. Harris squinted, knowing Jeremy wouldn’t joke about such matters. "What is it?" he asked.
Jeremy hesitated, noticing the Patrol Guards and family Head Guards watching him. Nevertheless, he decided to speak.
He told Elder Harris about the Horned Lizard, explaining that it could be a Tier-6 Corrupted Beast. Harris was stunned, and the four Beast Tamers behind him were petrified.
"Don’t tell me these changes have caused another beast to emerge," Harris muttered to himself.
"What changes?" Jeremy asked.
Harris collected his thoughts and replied, "You don’t have the authority to know."
Jeremy was frustrated. His city was facing this crisis, yet he was kept in the dark about these changes.
"Where is the Horned Lizard?" Harris asked.
Jeremy pointed in the direction, and Harris set off with his team.
Jeremy was stunned. He hadn’t expected them to act so quickly. He suspected the Horned Lizard could be a Tier-6 Beast, but he wasn’t certain.
He turned to the Head Guards and said, "Report to the City Governors."
Upon hearing his command, they began reporting to the City Governors.
