STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 561: Going to the front
CHAPTER 561: GOING TO THE FRONT
9th Zone, B-City:
Jeremy Night rushed out of the room after hearing the alarm. He knew what the alarm meant. The city is facing a crisis right now.
He came to the living area and saw the butler.
The butler’s gaze fell on Jeremy Night. He nodded to him and said, "The Purple Snake beasts have launched a surprise attack on our city."
"Everyone rushed to the front right now. Master left a minute ago," he added.
"What should I do?" Jeremy asked.
The butler said, "The City Governors are yet to give any instructions. If you want, you can voluntarily go to the city gate."
"Okay," Jeremy replied.
Then he left the mansion without further thinking. He had been waiting for such an opportunity. Since the beasts attacked the city.
He was more willing to go to the front. He came to the road and saw the cab drivers. Like him, many Beast Tamers were asking the drivers to give them a ride.
He approached a cab driver and told him his purpose. Surprisingly, the driver didn’t ask for money. He was ready to drop him right away.
Jeremy then entered the car and sat in the back seat.
Swoosh!
The cab hovered above the ground and rose into mid-air. Then it started going towards the city gate.
Through the window, he saw many flying vehicles rushing towards the same location. He didn’t expect the beasts to attack during the night.
It gave them more of an advantage. As the cab got closer, he could hear the fighting. He could see flying lifeline beasts in the sky.
They were of different sizes. He spotted a big sky bird circling above. It reminded him of past experiences.
Since they were flying above the city, they must be the lifeline beasts of the Beast Tamers. So, he relaxed.
Amidst the sounds of fighting and the commotion happening outside, the cab driver took him safely to the city gate.
After dropping him at the spot, he didn’t even ask for money. He went back to get other Beast Tamers to the front for free.
Jeremy touched the scabbard hanging from his belt. He was going to use his new blade. As he looked around, he could see a swarm of Beast Tamers ready to go to the front.
But the city guards were blocking them. It seemed the higher-ups hadn’t decided yet. Jeremy began to scan the surroundings.
He spotted a Tier-4 Female Beast Tamer standing together with a huge snake. The snake was over 20ft long with beautiful, hard green scales.
The other Tier-3 lifeline beasts were staying away from it.
But what attracted him was something else. Both the female Beast Tamer and the snake were giving off a dark aura. This dark vibe came from excessive killing in the wilderness.
The corrupted beasts here possessed the same thing. But they were more aggressive. He wanted to acquire such a dark, menacing aura. It could help him deter some beasts in the wilderness.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have the opportunity to do so.
...
Meanwhile,
Governor Black was monitoring the situation. Seeing that the Purple Snakes were not attacking anymore, his suspicion grew stronger.
He then asked the family heads of the various forces to be alert. The city guards on the ground were attending to the wounded.
It was seen by Governor Black. He also noticed the commotion at the city gate. Many volunteers had come to the front to fight.
He was pleased. Next, he disappeared from the spot and appeared above the city gate. His gaze fell on more than 300 Beast Tamers.
"Our city was attacked by Purple Snakes. They could be preparing for the next wave. I’m glad that you guys in huge numbers have come here on time."
"The City Guard Captains will assign your positions. So follow their instructions," Black said.
But his voice reached everyone’s ears. The various family heads had mixed emotions. Because some of them were family Beast Tamers who came here voluntarily.
Among the family heads, there was the Head of the Rossi Family. His name was Alessandro. Elder Matteo was standing next to him with a few other elders.
At this time, Elder Matteo was scanning the crowd. He was worried that his son would be here. But he saw someone else instead of his son.
That person was none other than Jeremy Night. He hadn’t ordered the kid to come here. That meant this kid came voluntarily. His eyes gleamed with a twinkle.
Family Head Alessandro saw his facial expression.
"What happened?" he asked.
Hearing that, Matteo sighed and said, "Family Head, I received my friend’s student into the mansion. He is here for training. But I didn’t expect him to come here voluntarily."
"Oh." Alessandro followed his gaze and saw a Tier-2 Beast Tamer standing alone. He didn’t even bring his lifeline beast outside.
"Is it the kid standing without a lifeline beast? He is just a Tier-2 Beast Tamer. His rank is decent, close to the limit," he added.
"Yes, it’s him," Matteo said.
Matteo didn’t know why the kid didn’t bring his lifeline beast outside.
"It’s too late. He will be assigned to his position. Let’s hope his luck is good and he will not die here," Alessandro said.
If it were someone from the family, he would have tried to intervene. Since it was nobody, he didn’t mind.
But Matteo was struggling. Since the Family Head had spoken, he couldn’t do anything. He sighed inwardly.
He gave a deep glance towards Jeremy Night before turning towards the front.
On the other hand, Jeremy Night followed the crowd to exit through the gate. But his heart was not calm. He felt someone look at him with a piercing gaze just a second ago.
He didn’t dare to look in that direction out of fear.
He then calmed his heart and stepped forward. He exited the gate and touched the ground outside the city gate.
"Come here!"
"What’s your tier?"
The City Guard Captains were hurriedly assigning positions to the Beast Tamers. They had to do it before the next wave of the attack.
The Purple Snakes had gone silent for the moment. But everyone knew that wasn’t the case. They could be facing the next attack soon.
