CHAPTER 562: GETTING INTO THE TEAM

9th Zone, B-City:

Soon, it was Jeremy Night’s turn. He stepped forward. The City Guard Captain, who was a Tier-5 Beast Tamer, looked at him.

"You are a Tier-2 Beast Tamer!"

"What are you going to do?" the middle-aged man asked.

He didn’t expect a Tier-2 Beast Tamer to volunteer. He was not angry, but he felt complicated emotions. He didn’t want to send the young kid to his death.

"Captain, I can provide support. Don’t worry," Jeremy quickly said to him.

Hearing that, the Captain recovered his thoughts. He thought this kid could provide help with his lifeline beast. Since he volunteered, he decided to assign him a position.

"Take him with you," the Captain said to the guard next to him.

The middle-aged guard heard everything. He appreciated the young man’s courage. He then left the place with the young man.

Jeremy Night sighed inwardly. He was worried that he would not be allowed to enter. He then quickly started following the guard.

The middle-aged man finally took him towards his team. His team had four other members. They were all Tier-4 Beast Tamers.

The four members consisted of two male and two female Beast Tamers. They were all surprised upon seeing a young Tier-2 Beast Tamer.

"Ben, who is this kid?" Kara asked.

Ben was the middle-aged man who brought Jeremy Night here.

"Hey. This kid is brave. He volunteered. I hope you guys won’t be harsh," Ben said. He was a kind and honest man.

The other female Beast Tamer was Melody. She was shocked. She hadn’t seen anyone in the Tier-2 stage facing a Beast Invasion before.

The other two members were Dan and Tom. They were kind as well.

But Tom said, "Boy, what’s your name?"

"I appreciate your guts. But you have to watch your own back. We won’t have time to save you," he added.

"Senior, my name is Jeremy Night. I’ll take care of myself," Jeremy replied.

"Good, kid. Then stay behind us," Tom replied.

The other members were satisfied with the new kid as well. Though he was a Tier-2 Beast Tamer, they appreciated the young kid’s courage.

Jeremy then went behind them. He stood close to the wall, almost leaning against it. He raised his head and noticed the watchtower above the wall.

They had to protect this side of the wall. He noticed the city guards standing in their positions with their lifeline beasts.

His gaze fell on his team members. He had thought they would be rude, but they turned out to be nice.

And they were right. During the Beast Invasion, it was hard enough to save their own lives. They wouldn’t have time to take care of others. So, he had to be careful.

His gaze then panned out and saw the mutilated corpses of the Purple Snakes. The black eerie aura was still covering the snakes.

From the snake’s size, he guessed the strength. It must be Tier-4 and above corrupted beasts. He continued to scan the vacant area. There were corpses everywhere.

But to his surprise, there were no lower-tier beasts. All the corpses were big in size. Not even a single lower-tier beast was seen. This was perplexing to him.

The middle-aged man, Ben, saw that Jeremy Night was standing behind them. This kid was not cowering in fear. Instead, he was brave and calm.

But he saw that the kid was deeply thinking about something. He couldn’t help but walk up to the kid.

"Jeremy, what are you thinking?" Ben asked.

Hearing that, Jeremy recovered his thoughts. He then turned towards the middle-aged man and asked about the Purple Snake corpses.

Ben’s eyes flickered.

"Oh, you noticed it. Those are the corpses of the Tier-5 Corrupted Beasts. This time, the attack was caused by Tier-5 and Tier-6 Purple Snakes."

"That’s why the Captain was shocked to see you," Ben said in a solemn tone.

He then thought of something and said, "You have to assist from behind. Don’t charge at the front. If you face a Tier-5 Purple Snake alone, it will eat you as a snack."

"Many Tier-3 City Guards have died already. So be careful," he added.

Then he looked at him and said, "Where is your armor? Wear it if you want to live."

After saying that, he left and returned to his position.

Jeremy Night’s heart was in turmoil. He had thought there would be a lower-tier beast attack, followed by other higher-tier beasts.

But he didn’t expect the Tier-5 and Tier-6 Purple Snakes to attack the city directly. If they were to enter the city, it would be a massacre.

He knew how serious this situation was. No wonder everyone had complicated reactions upon seeing him.

"Phew!"

He breathed a sigh of relief. Then he took out the new Grade-3 armor and began to wear it. The other guards in the team saw his new armor.

"Kid, you came prepared," Tom said with a smile.

"It’s a pity that Grade-3 armor is useless against a Tier-5 beast," he muttered.

Kara and Melody saw the armor as well. They nodded their heads. Many didn’t wear their armor because it would hinder their speed.

But for this kid, it was necessary. The middle-aged man, Ben, nodded his head as well.

Not far away from them, other city guards on both sides were standing in position. They started welcoming additional people.

The lowest among them were Tier-3 Beast Tamers. But no other Tier-2 Beast Tamer was present.

This situation was noticed by others. Many were thinking that the Tier-2 Beast Tamer was unlucky. He came here without knowing anything.

If it were family members, the elders would have reminded them that Tier-5 and Tier-6 Purple Snakes were responsible for the attacks.

Wilderness:

A Tier-7 Purple Snake had come to the vine canopy to meet the vine beasts. For some time, it didn’t get any response.

Hiss!

The Purple Snake stayed in the same spot. It started communicating with the vine beasts.

"Blood Steel Mosquito has agreed to send a team. We are going to break the city wall soon. But we need your help as well," it said.

Rustle!

Suddenly, the long, elongated vines started moving. It was difficult to distinguish the top from the bottom. The vines were entangled with each other. But they actually belonged to one body.
