Strongest Necromancer System
Chapter 255: Growing Interest
CHAPTER 255: GROWING INTEREST
Primordial Domain? What the fuck was a Primordial Domain? Jason felt a frown form on his face as he asked the system to explain these things to him, and the system brought up a new tab.
[A Primordial Domain is a collection of different worlds that are located parallel to each other within the Primordial Expanse. The ’Council of Nine and One’ is the body responsible for marking out Primordial Domains and appointing Supreme Leaders over these domains.]
Jason read through this message rather quickly, and he tried to keep his annoyance off his face after he was done. So, this woman was basically part of some sort of interdimensional governing body? There were so many foreign things being fed to him all at once, and if not for Jason’s ability to process significant amounts of information very quickly, then Jason would have already gotten lost! But for now, Jason decided to just focus on Hesabeth and what she was doing here. The system’s message told him that she had authority over a number of worlds, and that only solidified the fact that she was someone dangerous in Jason’s mind. But from what Jason could feel from her, she didn’t seem like she had that much power to speak of. In fact, Jason could hardly feel any mana from her at all! If Jason didn’t know any better, he would even think that she was a non-magical being.
Jason finally decided to speak up after a few seconds.
"My name is Jason Marc."
Hesabeth nodded along as she tested the name on her tongue.
"Jason Marc. It is quite fitting, an unusual name for an unusual warrior. I can deduce quite easily that you are an Avaran, but I can tell that there is far more to you than simply that. Your world is no more, so tell me, what world do you hail from, Jason Marc?"
Jason decided that he wasn’t going to answer that question. Jason had no idea who these people were, and he didn’t know if telling them about Earth would paint a target on his entire world or not. So he would rather not risk it. Instead, Jason asked a question of his own.
"What exactly is the Supreme Leader of a Primordial Domain doing in this backwater world? It’s not exactly the sort of place you would expect to meet a Queen."
Hesabeth’s eyes gleamed with amusement when she heard Jason ignoring her initial question! Being ignored was not something she was used to, but she didn’t know why she wasn’t annoyed at all. In fact, she liked the fact that Jason ignored her question! Hesabeth pointed her fan towards the dead body of the Lich while glancing at Jason with that smile still on her face.
"I was on my way to a ball, you see, and I decided to drop by and dispose of this creature since I had some time to spare, so my purpose has already been achieved. Such is the way the world works for me. Even before I make a move in one direction, a road has already been carved for me to follow. Now, I am sure this is no news to you, but this creature was on the verge of becoming a member of a rather dangerous organisation, and that was something we couldn’t let happen. Disposing of it was a rather important task, so you have the Council’s thanks, Jason Marc from an unknown world."
Jason was shocked to hear that Hesabeth had been on her way to a party. Does that mean that she was just passing by and she decided on a whim to come and kill a monster that would be the equivalent of a Yellow Gate Boss? There was no way Hesabeth would be able to make a claim like that unless she was extremely strong! But Jason couldn’t feel much power from her, and Jason knew that Hesabeth didn’t come with enough men to handle the horde of monsters that Jason had to fight before he could kill the Lich. And from the way Hesabeth spoke, it seemed like she never expected a fight at all. It was almost like she already expected Jason to have taken out the Lich before she got here.
’What does she mean by "that’s the way the world works for me"?’
Jason had no idea what Hesabeth was trying to say, but he tried his best not to let that show on his face. Jason was going to find out more about this Council and what exactly a Primordial Domain was later on, but for now, he needed to get rid of these people so he could resurrect Gina. Jason could see some sort of interest forming in Hesabeth’s eyes, and Jason did not want to be anywhere near her for longer than he needed to. Jason gave Hesabeth a nod, and then he waved his sword back in the direction she came from.
"If your business here is already finished, then you can continue on your way."
The armed man beside Hesabeth tightened his hand around his sword hilt as he sneered at Jason!
"You have committed two acts of treason now, peasant! You shall lose your head if you behave in such a disrespectful manner again! You should already be in chains for your actions here, and yet you show such disrespect to the Supreme Ruler!?"
Jason eyed the armed man with a cold gaze before he turned back to Hesabeth. Jason could tell that the men respected Hesabeth more than anything else, so he could understand why he was acting this way, but if the man tried to attack him, then blood would flow. Jason’s Legion had already surrounded all the men, and they were only waiting for Jason’s orders so they could charge forward!
The look in Hesabeth’s eye had intensified, and Jason was now worried that she was trying to eat him with her gaze! She took another step closer to him as she spoke up.
"There is one more thing of importance that I need to retrieve so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. I heard rumors that this creature had created a rather dangerous weapon capable of tearing through the fabric of mortality and wielding an unknown power. Tell me, have you come across any weapon like this?"
Jason could immediately tell that the Queen was talking about the sword hilt that he had just taken from the Lich. The [Death’s Mirage] didn’t seem like something dangerous, but the description that the system gave it told Jason that it had the potential to become one of the strongest weapons in the world if wielded properly. Jason wasn’t going to give up something like that for anything, so Jason did the most rational thing anyone would do in such a situation. He lied through his teeth!
"Sorry, I haven’t seen any weapons. Maybe it was destroyed in our fight."
Jason shrugged while saying this calmly, and Queen Hesabeth narrowed her eyes at him curiously. Their eyes stayed locked in a fierce standoff, and Jason noticed the way her golden eyes glittered in an almost inhuman way. Jason wondered if Hesabeth would make her men attack him or not, and he was already prepared to fight back if he needed to, but Queen Hesabeth just hummed as she smiled again. The tension in the air vanished like it had never been there, and Queen Hesabeth spoke calmly.
"Very well then, if you say you did not see it, then I will take your word for it, Jason Marc. But keep in mind that should that weapon fall into the wrong hands and cause any problems for the worlds in my Primordial Domain, then you will have me to answer to."
