CHAPTER 277: DELEGATING TASKS

In truth, Gina wasn’t surprised. Gina knew better than anyone just how desirable Jason was to most women. Even before he became a superhuman and gained so much power, Jason had always had a strange effect on the women around him that made them fall for him easily! The best example of this was the first time Gina met Jason’s school Principal, Miss Harold. Gina expected the woman to be professional and strict, just like every other school principal, but Gina was shocked when she saw Miss Harold giving Jason a look that Gina had seen on the faces of many women before! Jason was only seventeen back then, but he had somehow managed to catch the eye of his principal! Gina was absolutely shocked when she realised what was happening, but she couldn’t help but be impressed by Jason’s charm! That was one of the reasons why Gina had worked so hard to make sure she claimed Jason as her own as quickly as possible! Gina knew that if she wasted any time, then someone else would definitely try to take Jason away from her! That was why Gina wasn’t surprised that Riyala had also fallen for Jason.

Riyala couldn’t even look Gina in the eye, and she stared down at the ground in fear. Riyala already felt guilty for having these feelings when Jason was trying to find a way to bring Gina back to life, but Riyala was willing to bury them because she didn’t want to come between Jason and Gina. But what the hell was she supposed to do now that Gina had already figured it out!? It didn’t even take five minutes for her secret to be exposed! Riyala had no idea what Gina would do to her, and Gina could see the genuine fear that had come over Riyala’s entire body. Gina finally sighed and spoke calmly into Riyala’s ear.

"Relax, I’m not mad at you. We’ll talk about this later, okay?"

Riyala swallowed in slight fear before she nodded quickly. A hand landed on her shoulder, and Riyala looked up to see Gina smiling at her again. Gina pulled her into a hug and spoke gratefully.

"Thank you for being there for him when I couldn’t. I know how hard he was working to save me, so it really means a lot to me that he didn’t have to be alone."

Riyala was surprised by Gina’s hug, but she eventually smiled and hugged Gina back. Riyala knew that there would be a very tense conversation in the future about what happened when Gina wasn’t here, but for now, Riyala decided that she would simply appreciate the fact that Gina was back. Riyala told Gina that it was fine. Jason helped her when she was at her lowest, so she couldn’t just leave him when he needed her, and Gina finally pulled back and nodded.

Jason had been busy making sure his subordinates surrounded the dragons to prevent them from retreating, but he turned when he heard Gina call on her pawn rank subordinates, and they appeared from his Alternate Dimension. Jason had given Gina ten subordinates earlier, and most of them were Iron-Bladed Falcons since they were a perfect match for Gina’s wind-based gift. The other subordinates were Pawn Rank III Adamantine Ants, but Gina had also taken a liking to the Skyking and its fiery personality, so Jason commanded the Skyking to obey her commands whenever she called on it.

’I’m going to help Azrael, babe. Remember you just got out of a fight, so your stamina is still recovering. Try not to push yourself too far.’

Gina’s voice echoed through Jason’s mind, and Jason felt a strange mixture of anxiousness and pride at the same time. Jason was happy that Gina wanted to fight, and he didn’t have any problems with it since it would help her grow stronger, but Jason couldn’t help the feeling of anxiety that filled him at that moment. Jason had just gotten Gina back, so it didn’t feel right to see her go into a battlefield again. But Gina was a Rook Class subordinate now, and that meant she was on the same level as an A-Class superhuman. Even though she wasn’t a match for the dragons or the dragonriders since they were S-Ranks, she would be fine as long as she had her other subordinates supporting her. Jason let out a calm breath and shook his head to get rid of those thoughts before smiling at Gina.

’Just be careful out there. Hey, you, make sure you keep an eye on her, alright?’

Jason said the last part to the Skyking, and the Skyking let out a prideful cry in understanding while flapping its wings! Gina rolled her eyes at Jason’s overprotectiveness, but the happy smile on her face showed that she loved it. Gina told Jason not to worry too much, and her eyes narrowed as she commanded her subordinates to take off! Twenty Falcons and Adamantine Ants jumped off the building, and they headed straight for one of the dragons that was being attacked by Azrael! Jason turned to the side as he heard Riyala speak up.

"Is Gina going to fight as well? Didn’t she just wake up? She should be resting!"

Riyala was obviously shocked by Gnia’s actions, but Jason just shrugged with a small smile. If there was one thing that Jason knew about Gina, it was that she hated feeling useless. Gina dropped out of school and started working as a superhuman so she could be useful to her parents, and she worked really hard at her job so she could be useful to her guild. Now that Gina had enough power to help Jason in fights, Jason wouldn’t stop her from helping him. Gina could do whatever she wanted as long as she was careful.

"She’ll be fine. She’s used to being on the battlefield, so she knows how far she can push herself. I need you to do something for me. My subordinates found some injured superhumans, so I need you to go heal them. Do you still have the artefacts that I gave you?"

Riyala nodded quickly as she touched the [Radagan Sundrop] and other artefacts that she was still wearing. Riyala’s coat covered the artefacts properly, so neither the Gaia agents nor the dragonriders had noticed them. Riyala was glad that Jason was giving her something to help him with as well since she had been nothing but a burden all this time. She really wanted to do her part in trying to fix what her people had done! Riyala checked her mana reserves, and she nodded in satisfaction when she saw that she was filled to the brim with mana! She was going to use every last drop to heal anyone who was hurt!

Jason smiled as he shifted his attention towards the Santos Twins who were rounding up all the injured superhumans they could find. There were well over a hundred people stuck in the city, and unfortunately, about fifteen of them had died. The dragon attacks injured a lot of them, and even though there were superhuman healers trying to help them, they were already running low on mana. When Jason’s subordinates first appeared to help, the superhumans looked a bit terrified of them, but Liam recognized the twins, and he vouched that they could be trusted. Jason called on one of the twins, and Rosa quickly moved through the shadow and appeared beside Jason with her head bowed. Jason commanded her to take Riyala to where the injured were being kept and make sure that Riyala was protected as she healed the superhumans, and Rosa nodded in understanding.
