Chapter 285: Two Idiots
CHAPTER 285: TWO IDIOTS
Liam shook his head and let out a small sigh before he asked Gina where Jason was. Gina hummed in thought, and Liam raised a brow when he didn’t get an answer from her for a few seconds. Gina almost looked like she was talking to someone else for some reason, and Liam was even more shocked when Gina suddenly smiled and said.
"He’s already on his way; he should be here soon."
How the fuck did Gina know that? This thought passed through Liam’s mind the moment he heard what Gina said! How the hell did Gina manage to communicate with Jason without using her phone or even an artefact! Don’t tell me Jason had also gained the ability to use telepathy! If that was true, then Liam might actually lose his fucking mind! How the hell were they going to register Jason in their database when he seemed to gain a new ability every fucking day!
"Liam."
"Oh my fucking god!!"
Liam felt his entire body jerk in shock when he suddenly heard Jason speak from behind him, and he turned around with a heavy glare to see Jason standing there with a blank look on his face. Jason looked as calm and composed as always, but if you looked closer, you would be able to see the small grin on Jason’s lips! Liam cursed internally as he realized that the bastard had done that on purpose! This fucking dick!
"Holy shit, it’s him."
"That’s Jason Marc, right? I saw him commanding an army of dead monsters earlier. It was insane."
"Someone said he killed a dragon with a single hit."
"He killed every single dragon like it was nothing!"
"Damn, why didn’t he come earlier. If he was here then the city wouldn’t have been destroyed."
"Yeah, you’re right. Where the hell was he when they were breaking everything to pieces?"
"I heard he had some super important mission to do."
"More important than saving the city?"
The whispers from the superhumans around could be heard by most of the people in the room since they were all superhuman, and Gina’s face gained a look of pure fury when she heard some of them talking down on Jason for not coming earlier! These fools had no idea what Jason had been doing, so what right did they have to talk about him like this was his fault!? Gina was about to speak up, but Jason’s voice suddenly echoed through her mind.
’It’s fine, babe. Let them talk.’
’But—’
’Hey, I said it’s fine. I made my choice, and now I have to deal with the consequences of that choice. But I don’t regret what I did, so nothing they say matters.’
Gina let out a sigh at the nonchalant attitude of her boyfriend. If she had her way, she would give these people a nasty tongue-lashing, but since Jason said that it was fine, then she would let it go. Liam had also heard the things that the superhumans were saying about Jason, and he decided that he would have to make sure he gave an interview with the news later so that no one would try to paint Jason as the villain here. Whenever large-scale disasters happened like this, there were always those who tried to pin the blame on a single person, but Liam couldn’t let them do something like that to Jason! If they pissed Jason off and pushed him away, then it was over for the entire country!
Liam spoke up quickly.
"Jason, thanks for coming to help. We’d all be dead if not for you."
Jason shrugged with a small smile, and he said that it was alright. Jason looked towards where Riyala was still healing the wounds of some of the superhumans, and when Riyala noticed his eyes on her, she looked up and blushed cutly while giving Jason a smile. Jaosn returned her smile with a proud nod, and Riyala’s blush deepened as she ducked her head! But Riyala suddenly felt a pair of eyes on her back, and she quickly turned away when she realized that it was Gina! Gina was just staring at Riyala calmly, but Riyala couldn’t stop her heart from racing in fear! Jason sensed the tension between the two women immediately, and he decided that he would ask Gina about it later. Jason turned back to the side as Liam spoke up in a more serious tone.
"What are we going to do about the Yellow Gate? Even though the dragons are dead, it’s still open. Anything can get through."
Liam was obviously worried that there would be more dragons coming through soon, and Jason gave Liam the same answer that he had given Luthor a few minutes ago. Liam felt his eyes widen in surprise! Jason was going inside the Gate? Liam knew that whatever was inside that Gate would likely be more dangerous than anything they had ever faced. The fact that five dragons came out to threaten them told Liam that those were just the lackeys that were sent out as scouts. Somewhere inside that fucking Gate was the actual boss, and Liam didn’t know how to feel about anyone going up against it. But did they have any other options? Jason was the strongest superhuman in the country, so they had no choice but to rely on him for protection.
"Please destroy whatever is on the other side of that Gate."
A voice suddenly spoke up from the side, and the two men turned to see Florence standing there. Florence had one of her hands in a sling that looped around her neck, and there was a large bandage wrapped around her bleeding head. Florence wasn’t as injured as some of the other superhumans, so she told the healers to preserve their mana and take care of those with serious injuries first. She just did a bit of first aid, and she was now waiting for them to finish off with the others so she could be healed. Florence looked dirty and absolutely exhausted, and anyone who saw her then would be able to tell that she had gone through hell during the attacks. But there was a deep intensity in her eyes that showed just how angry she was about the destruction that the dragons had caused. Florence was a prideful woman, but at that moment, she threw away all of her pride and bowed her head to Jason.
"I don’t know where you were during the attack, and I won’t ask you for any details since that is in the past. But you are here now, and you are fighting for us. So please, kill every single enemy on the other side of that Gate. Don’t let this disaster happen again."
The sound of groaning superhumans and the bodies lying around the floor gave more meaning to Florence’s words, and Jason could see that Florence wasn’t saying all of this just because she was afraid of what would happen if more of them came around. Florence was speaking from a place of pure, unfiltered hatred for the dragon riders. If Florence had a button that would allow her to kill every single dragon in the world right now, Jason knew that she would press it without any hesitation!
A deep pain suddenly passed through Florence’s head as a headache washed over her, and she grimaced and held her head in pain! Liam quickly moved to catch her before she could fall and Florence felt a blush rising on her cheek as Liam looked down at her with a worried gaze while asking if she was okay! Jason watched as Florence leaned against Liam’s chest with a little more excitement than you would expect, and Jason was surprised when Liam didn’t even seem to notice what she was doing. Liam furrowed his brow while putting his hand against Florence’s head, and he asked Florence if she was alright! Florence’s cheek grew slightly red from the contact, and Florence nodded quickly while pushing off him to stand on her own. Jason scoffed in mild amusement once he saw their interaction. What the hell were these two idiots doing?
