Chapter 315: Just Follow My Orders
CHAPTER 315: JUST FOLLOW MY ORDERS
The boy with green hair who had stepped up first was also an S Rank, and Jason nodded in acceptance as he decided that this would have to do. There were also three S Rank Enforcers with them, and they were all going to be boosted by the supporting powers of the SS Rank Katarina. If Jason added the people here to this Legion’s numbers, then Jason knew they would be more than enough to handle the coming battle.
"Alright then, I’m going to lay out the plan to you as simply as possible. First, we’re not going to have any time to waste once we get into that gate. There is a military regiment waiting on the other side of the Gate, so we have to be ready to fight once we pass through..."
Jason started explaining his plans to the superhumans present in a calm manner, and every single person paid rapt attention as he laid out what they needed to do. The Sovereign was the one who sent Grinot and the other Dragonriders to Earth, but there was a military regiment waiting on the other side of the Gate to either welcome Grinot back after he was done with his mission or to go into the gate if Grinot didn’t come back after a specific amount of time. That meant they would have to go out there ready to meet at least ten dragons and multiple Dragonriders.
Radagan was separated into the central Royal city where the Royal Palace was located, and multiple smaller regions around the world that were ruled over by various nobles. Jason and the superhumans didn’t need to focus on the other settlements since the nobles weren’t involved in the coup. The Sovereign killed many of the nobles when he was rising to power, and the other nobles submitted to him because they were afraid that they would be killed as well. The main battle was going to take place in the central palace and the town surrounding it.
Two main strategies needed to be carried out if they wanted to get the upper hand. The first thing they needed to do was to make sure that none of the soldiers at the gate escaped. This would allow them to keep the element of surprise, and they would be able to attack the central palace before the Sovereign could mount a defence. The second thing was the Rune that Azrael had been working on. Jason didn’t bother giving the superhumans a complete crash course on Runes and what they could do, but he summoned Azrael, and he saw how all their eyes widened in shock once they saw him. No one would be able to remain unfazed when they saw a ten-foot-tall skeletal figure standing in front of them! And when Jason told them that Azrael had a spell that could drain the life force from any creature in a certain vicinity, the superhumans easily accepted that it was the truth!
The moment the superhumans land on Radagan, Azrael would go ahead to activate his Rune on the main city, and Jason and the other superhumans would join him after they were done taking care of the soldiers. The Rune would allow Jason to even the odds between the superhumans and the Radagan soldiers. Even though the superhumans were strong, there was no way they would be able to stand up to the sheer number of soldiers in Radagan.
"The strongest soldiers in the Sovereign’s army are in the SS Rank, and the Sovereign himself is an SSS Rank. If you fought any of them the way you are now, then they could eradicate all of you with their hands tied behind their back. But if we drain some of their life force, then it’ll be possible to reduce their power by a reasonable margin."
Jason said all this while patting Azrael’s side calmly, and the superhumans were all shocked when they heard the rank of the person they were going to fight! SSS Rank!? Was that even possible!? The strongest man on Earth was only a high-level SS Rank, so the superhumans couldn’t even comprehend the sheer power that someone would need to have for them to be classified as an SSS Rank! One of the women there raised her hand, and Jason turned and nodded before she spoke in a curious tone.
"Uhmm, by a ’reasonable’ margin. Exactly how much weaker are you talking about?"
Jason hummed as he did some quick calculations in his head. From what Azrael told him earlier, the Soul Drain rune could kill a regular person if it was active for more than five minutes, so if they wanted to make sure they didn’t kill the civilians in the town, then they couldn’t leave it on for more than that time. And in five minutes, the Soul Drain would reduce the power of an S Rank by about fifty percent. That meant it would only take about twenty percent from an SS Rank and less than ten percent from an SSS Rank. Those numbers didn’t really inspire much confidence when looked at closely, but in the general scheme of things, it was a very significant difference. To visualize it properly, you need to remember that twenty percent of an SS Rank’s power is still stronger than what a high-level A Rank can handle!
Jason gave the percentages to the superhumans, and he could almost see their faces turning white in real-time! The superhumans were obviously expecting the rune to reduce the Sovereign’s power by a lot more, and the fact that they would have to fight against soldiers that still had a majority of their power was a little terrifying for them! But before they could dwell on their fear, Katarina spoke up from the side.
"You don’t need to be afraid. I’ll make sure to shift the odds in your favour."
The superhumans turned to Katarina and saw that she was looking at Jason with a resolute expression. Jason watched her calmly, and Katarina sat up straight as she said:
"I’m no longer supporting the members of my Guild, so I’m at full power. I can boost the strength level of the weaker superhumans here by up to a hundred percent, and I can boost the strength of the stronger ones by fifty percent. You can trust me."
The superhumans murmured quietly when they heard Katarina’s words! They all knew about the extraordinary abilities that Katarina had, so they didn’t have any doubt that Katarina could do exactly what she claimed! Some of them were still hesitant to receive help from Katarina after the things that she had done, but they all knew that Katarina’s abilities could mean the difference between life and death in this coming battle!
Jason gave Katarina a searching look, and Katarina looked into his eyes with a pleading gaze. She wanted him to know that she just wanted to help, and Jason took in a breath and turned away from Katarina as he continued.
"Katarina’s help will allow us to close the gap, but we should still be ready for anything. You don’t need to worry about the Sovereign. What I need you all to do is focus on the Generals that are part of the Royal Army. There are ten of them, and my subordinates are going to try to separate each of them from the Sovereign so they can be handled individually. I don’t need you getting in my way, so you will be teaming up with my subordinates to handle the Generals. You don’t have to worry about the subordinates dying, so you can use them as bait to lure the Generals into traps or attacks. I need you to either kill the General or distract them long enough for me to kill the Sovereign."
Jason looked over the faces of the gathered superhumans, and he could tell that they were all a little scared of what they were going to be facing on the other side of the Gate, but beneath that fear, Jason could see resolve, and since none of them was turning around to leave, Jason knew that they would do their best to help out. The boy with green hair who had stepped forward first suddenly raised his hand, and Jason nodded for him to speak. The boy spoke in a respectful tone.
"If you were to estimate, sir. What do you think are our chances of winning this battle?"
Jason was a little put-off by the fact that the boy called him sir since Jason was sure that the boy was older than him, but Jason didn’t let that bother him as he listened to the rest of the boy’s question. Once Jason heard the question, he smiled and looked over the gathered superhumans with a confident gaze.
"So long as we all play our part properly and you follow my orders down to the letter, I don’t see us losing this battle for any reason."
