Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1537 - 1589: Attending the Banquet
CHAPTER 1537: CHAPTER 1589: ATTENDING THE BANQUET
Originally, Wu Shuwei had no appetite, but under Li Yifei’s guidance, she ate a big bowl of rice and several dishes, her small stomach was full.
The two chose a Chinese restaurant for lunch. Although it wasn’t very authentic, eating hometown dishes still increased their appetite.
After eating and drinking, Li Yifei and Wu Shuwei went to get their company car, a Mercedes S600, which is considered a very ordinary car in Dubai. Li Yifei acted as the driver, accompanying Wu Shuwei for an afternoon, visiting several departments, submitting completed documents, and meeting some politicians. However, as before, the attitude of the other side was very cold and tough, and Wu Shuwei hit a wall all day.
Whether it was because Li Yifei was with her or because Wu Shuwei had regained her confidence, she didn’t seem disheartened. Sitting in the car, Wu Shuwei even smiled at Li Yifei and said, "It’s not too bad, at least we met some people."
Li Yifei smiled, nodded lightly, and said, "Good attitude."
"Ha ha, what else can you do if your attitude isn’t good? If no one helps, then no one helps. I’ll do it myself. As long as things aren’t finally settled, I won’t give up."
"I’m not trying to be discouraging, but if you really fail, what will you do?"
"Me? Go back home. I’ve been floating outside for many years. It’s time to go home and accompany my parents."
"I’m asking about you personally."
"That’s not important. Although I like challenging work, it’s okay if I lose it. It’s just that my dad might be in some trouble, after all, losing more than a billion US dollars at once is definitely not a small amount." Wu Shuwei spoke lightly, but Li Yifei could see her faint helplessness.
Li Yifei nodded, started the car, and asked, "Where to next?"
"First, go buy a dress, and then... accompany me to a dinner party."
"Dinner party?"
"I heard earlier there’s a dinner party tonight, many politicians will attend, so I want to try my luck!" Wu Shuwei said.
Li Yifei chuckled and said, "Okay, let’s go then."
After saying that, he drove, taking Wu Shuwei to a mall.
After the two of them finished shopping, they each picked out an outfit to wear for the evening banquet. Wu Shuwei had already found out the location of the dinner party and directed Li Yifei to drive while she did a simple makeup touch-up.
Driving, Li Yifei felt the road was very familiar. After turning a corner, Li Yifei couldn’t help but laugh silently. Wasn’t this the direction of the mansion of the royal prince Sashar? Li Yifei remembered that he was hosting a dinner party today. Could it be that the place Wu Shuwei wanted to go was also Sashar’s house?
It seemed likely, but this was the residential area of the wealthy, with each villa occupying a large area. It could also just be a coincidence.
The car moved forward, and Wu Shuwei was searching for the house number, telling Li Yifei, "After two more houses, we’re there!"
After two more houses, it would really be Sashar’s house, Li Yifei thought, but he didn’t say anything more.
Many luxury cars were already parked at Sashar’s place, and the parking lot outside the gate was also full of cars, none of which were cheap. All kinds of sports cars made it look like a car show.
When the car stopped at the entrance, Wu Shuwei encountered a problem because she didn’t have an invitation, and the gate security strictly required attendees to have one.
"What should we do?" Wu Shuwei looked at Li Yifei, and Li Yifei looked at her. Wu Shuwei said, "I’ll try to see if I can get someone to bring us in!"
"Let me go!" Li Yifei stopped Wu Shuwei and said, "Men are more useful here than women."
Although Dubai is one of the most open areas in the Islamic world, some perceptions about women are still hard to eliminate, so Wu Shuwei just nodded, watching Li Yifei get out of the car and walk toward the security guards at the far gate.
These security guards were the ones who stopped Li Yifei yesterday, so they still remembered him, knowing he was a noble guest of the prince. So, they came over to salute Li Yifei.
Li Yifei smiled, waved to the captain, and the other party immediately came over, asking, "Honored guest, is there anything you need?"
Li Yifei said, "I brought a friend over, but neither of us has an invitation. Do you need to report it to Sashar?"
The other party shook his head quickly upon hearing this and said, "You are the prince’s friend, of course, we won’t stop you, but your friend..."
"She’s my date."
"Oh, then there’s no problem. You can call her in, we won’t stop you. If it’s someone else, just ensure no weapons are brought in because, as you know, the guests tonight are very distinguished."
"Ha ha, we won’t." Li Yifei said, handing over some US dollars, but the other party quickly shook his head, saying, "No, sir, we can’t accept."
"It’s not easy for anyone, mutual understanding, take it." Li Yifei pushed the money over again and said, "Alright, I’ll go get my date."
Coming back, Li Yifei waved to Wu Shuwei who was in the car. Wu Shuwei got out and asked, "Is it okay?"
"Of course it is! Haven’t you heard the saying ’money can make the devil turn the mill’? I gave him a few US dollars and said you were my date, and he agreed. Haha, let’s go!"
Wu Shuwei feigned realization, smiled at Li Yifei, naturally hooked her arm around his, and seeing the surprise on his face, she explained, "A date should act like a date."
"You’re right. Well then... darling, let’s go!" Li Yifei laughed.
Wu Shuwei rolled her eyes at Li Yifei but didn’t withdraw her arm. The two of them walked to the entrance, where a few security guards nodded to Li Yifei, and they went inside.
The entire villa was already set up, with many political figures, tycoons, and beauties present.
As soon as they entered the courtyard, they felt the vibrant atmosphere. Many men in Muslim robes gathered in groups, discussing something, while servants weaved through them with trays carrying wine and delicacies.
The two made their way through the crowd to a relatively quiet corner. Wu Shuwei released her grip on Li Yifei’s arm and sighed in relief. She was a bit nervous, afraid of being discovered, given that the two of them, with their East Asian faces, stood out here, but fortunately, no one paid much attention to them.
"What’s your plan?" Li Yifei asked with interest, looking at Wu Shuwei.
Wu Shuwei frowned. As she walked over, she had been observing but didn’t see any officials or businessmen she knew. She shook her head and said, "I don’t know either; now that we’re in, I’ll try my luck later."
"Like what?"
"For example, if I run into some officials, I’d like to try to make connections."
"Alright, keep your phone on and call me if there’s trouble."
"What about you?"
"You do your thing, I’ll get something to eat. Filling my stomach is the most important thing!"
Wu Shuwei nodded, "I’ll go first then. You... be careful too. If we’re discovered, it could be troublesome since we sneaked in without an invitation!"
"Okay." Li Yifei squinted, watching Wu Shuwei leave. He stood there for a while, then found a plate, picked some food, sat at a table, and started tasting.
In the villa, Sarama was almost in tears, while Sashar, leaning against the wall, looked helpless. He had already been yelled at several times by Sarama. Without any other choice, because of Golden Eagle. Sashar was sure he had told Golden Eagle to attend tonight’s dinner party, but up until now, Golden Eagle hadn’t shown up, and Sashar didn’t have Li Yifei’s contact information either.
Sarama was naturally anxious. She had been waiting from morning until now, all to see Li Yifei. If he didn’t come, wouldn’t her wait be in vain?
"Sashar, you... you must find Golden Eagle for me, otherwise, I will make sure your party can’t go on."
"My princess, you can’t do this. Although it’s me hosting the party today, you know I’m just providing a venue. The real host is my father, and he’s your father too. If you cause a scene, he won’t be happy."
"I don’t care. Anyway, I just want to see Golden Eagle, or I’ll... I’ll tie you up and lock you in a room," Sarama threatened.
Sashar didn’t doubt his sister’s ability to follow through with her threats for a moment, so he hurriedly shook his head and said, "I’ve already sent someone to stake out the hotel entrance. As soon as they see him, they’ll immediately bring him over. It’s just that we haven’t received any news. But according to the hotel, he should be back soon."
"Not bring, invite!" Sarama emphasized.
Sashar waved his hands repeatedly, "Alright, alright, invite him over."
His sister was a bit obsessed with this. Sashar looked utterly helpless. But she hadn’t just been obsessed for a day or two. It had been years, and their family elders couldn’t do anything about it either, so Sashar had no choice.
By conventional standards, Sarama would definitely be considered an anomaly of the royal family. But she had managed to make a name for herself in that field, which is why most of the family elders liked her and admired her abilities, leading to Sarama’s current lifestyle.
And, Sashar’s helplessness as her brother. He couldn’t stop his sister; all he could do was obediently search for Golden Eagle while internally pleading, "Golden Eagle, where are you? Please come out and take my demon sister with you. I just want a good night’s sleep."
Seeing Sashar’s expression, Sarama rolled her eyes and waved him off, "You go. I’m not being unreasonable, but since you know Golden Eagle and I can’t find anyone else, I have to ask you."
Sashar gave a wry smile and said, "I was just on the same flight as him. How was I supposed to know he was Golden Eagle? If not for yesterday’s incident, I wouldn’t have known..."
"But you invited him to the house... brother, please, go find him. I’ve been waiting for years. I’ve finally gotten this opportunity, and if I miss it, he might disappear again."
"He probably won’t. I know he’s from Huaxia. If worse comes to worst, you can go to Huaxia to find him."
With a spontaneous suggestion, Sashar saw Sarama glaring at him with anger and said, "If I knew where he was, wouldn’t I have already gone to find him? Why would I wait until now?"
