Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1565 - 1617: Kidnapped Again
CHAPTER 1565: CHAPTER 1617: KIDNAPPED AGAIN
Angelina was quite frightened at the time. She had been kidnapped before, so upon seeing the scene, her first reaction was to step back. It wasn’t that she wasn’t loyal.
The entire kidnapping process happened very quickly, in just a few dozen seconds. Three cars stopped, three people got off from the middle car, surrounded Wu Shuwei, kidnapped her, and stuffed her into the car, which then sped away.
Three identical black Mercedes-Benz business cars, everyone inside wearing uniform Arab robes, their faces covered, making it impossible to tell who they were. Angelina only said they seemed to be Caucasian, as none of the people she saw had dark skin.
The police questioned several nearby eyewitnesses but didn’t gather much useful information. The surveillance video being tracked showed the group had already fled the city limits, heading north.
After Li Yifei and Sarama met, they briefly communicated and got into the car together. Sarama used her authority to call in a squad of soldiers. Although she controlled a brigade, she couldn’t dispatch them randomly. It was possible to draw a platoon or a company.
Thirty armed soldiers were dispatched. Li Yifei was already driving, and under Sarama’s guidance, began the pursuit.
It must be said, Wu Shuwei was incredibly unlucky. Although, the kidnappers had plotted this in advance, and the three cars had been lurking near the hotel for some time. Basically, as soon as Li Yifei had left, these people were lying in wait.
But if Wu Shuwei had been honest and stayed in the hotel without ever leaving, they wouldn’t have been able to do anything to her. After all, no matter how skilled these people were, they wouldn’t dare to storm in recklessly; that would really become a big issue, and they might not profit from it.
Li Yifei had seen those guards at the entrance were armed.
You won’t die if you don’t do... Li Yifei sighed. It’s too late to say anything now; all that matters is to catch up and rescue her first.
With the signing happening tomorrow, yet this woman got into trouble today... Even if Wu Shuwei’s company pulled out, Li Yifei alone could come up with enough money to take on the project. But that wasn’t his intention. Li Yifei wanted to use his own strength to help the country in exchange for some political capital. He doesn’t want to be an official, but with these contributions, those in power might be more tolerant of the Li family.
Putting it bluntly, in front of the gigantic state machinery, someone like Li Yifei is just a bullet, or considering it vulgar, a dog. No matter how skilled this dog is, it can’t cause too much trouble. Otherwise, the machine will crush you directly, which is why Old Master Su nudged him about it. This is also why, after considering, Li Yifei didn’t go home but rather directly ran to this vast desert from Japan.
He still needed Wu Shuwei and the company she represented. Otherwise, expecting him to start an oil company from scratch would be too difficult for him. In the Li family’s business, there’s a chemical industry but not oil development in such a preliminary industry.
Now with Wu Shuwei in trouble, how could Li Yifei not be anxious. Had he known, he would’ve explained it clearly to her when grabbing things from home; who knew the woman would get so upset and go out drinking to seek relief...
Li Yifei tapped twice on the steering wheel, causing Sarama beside him to immediately misunderstand. She’d been quietly observing Li Yifei’s reactions. Seeing him like this made her believe he really cared for Wu Shuwei. Otherwise, why would he be so anxious about her situation? His extreme reaction deepened Sarama’s misunderstanding.
She reached out her hand, gently patting Li Yifei’s shoulder. When Li Yifei turned his head, she said: "Golden Eagle, don’t worry. As long as we find the organization or individual responsible for the kidnapping, we can rescue her. Definitely!"
"Hopefully," Li Yifei replied with a nod.
His mind was elsewhere. If Wu Shuwei were hurt, it would certainly ruin Li Yifei’s plan and might also have repercussions, like potentially offending Wu Shuwei’s father.
Although it wasn’t Li Yifei’s fault, from the other party’s perspective, they could blame him without reason. For instance: You’re the Golden Eagle, my daughter was with you, and now something happened, who else to blame?
This was too easily anticipated. If such a thing happened, Li Yifei didn’t fear the Wu family smearing him, but he had no need to take on such trouble, especially with Comrade Wu’s next term uncertain. If he rose, wouldn’t he have set up a nationally branded enemy, perhaps even a foe?
Damn, how did such a thing happen to me? This woman really doesn’t know how to stay calm! Li Yifei slapped the steering wheel again.
The car was speeding along, following video evidence the police provided, guided by Sarama as Li Yifei quickly pursued.
But now that it’s been more than an hour since the incident, how far could they have gone in an hour? At a speed of one hundred kilometers per hour, they could have escaped far indeed.
It wasn’t like last time when Li Yifei immediately reacted, borrowed a car from Sashar, and chased after them. This time there was some distance.
Beside him, Sarama refocused, opened a map with detailed markings, and circled several places with a pen, analyzing: "There are several turnoffs here, all leading off the highway. I’ve already asked people to pay attention to the surveillance. In fifteen minutes, we can meet up with my soldiers who have brought sophisticated equipment."
Li Yifei nodded, glanced at Sarama, and asked, "Are you okay doing this?"
"This?" Sarama smiled lightly, saying: "No problem, rest assured!"
"Thanks for helping."
"No need to be polite with me. I’ve said before, if there’s anything, just let me know. And being able to do something for you makes me very happy indeed."
No more words were needed. Li Yifei pressed the accelerator harder. Naturally, the car’s power was excellent, quickly accelerating past one hundred sixty, remaining very stable.
Meanwhile, Wu Shuwei’s face was covered, as if she had a black bag over her head.
Captured into the vehicle, all she heard were languages she couldn’t understand; neither English nor Arabic. Despite living abroad for years, she didn’t know many languages.
Again kidnapped, Wu Shuwei was much calmer this time compared to before but couldn’t prevent the sadness. What was the matter? She hadn’t provoked anyone. Wu Shuwei felt like crying but had no tears.
In the darkness, Wu Shuwei bit her lip, keeping silent, her mind recalling the kidnapping scene. Daring enough for a public street abduction, these people must be bold, armed with sophisticated equipment and uniform attire.
Fortunately, Angelina wasn’t involved, those people seemed to be focused specifically on her, allowing Angelina to call the police and... notify that man.
But... it’s been so long now, would that man come to rescue her?
What am I thinking? Wu Shuwei shook her head. She hoped Li Yifei would come to save her, but felt it was just an extravagant hope. Last time Li Yifei just happened to be there, but this time? Li Yifei didn’t even know where he was. So much time had passed, how could Li Yifei possibly appear?
Thinking this way, Wu Shuwei wanted to cry. She regretted arguing with Angelina to go out drinking. If she had known, staying home quietly would have been better. Why come out seeking trouble for herself?
But regretting seemed too late. She was flanked by people, whom, for now, didn’t touch her. Wu Shuwei knew she was temporarily safe, but that might change soon.
Why am I so unlucky? Wu Shuwei bit her lip again.
With the signing happening tomorrow, she was instructed by the headquarters before leaving. The headquarters surprisingly agreed to cooperate with Li Yifei and Dubai, consenting to the signing, even with only fifteen percent shares. Wu Shuwei argued a bit with the head office leaders.
Questioning why they agreed, as forty-nine percent and fifteen percent of shares held significant differences. If after completion, Li Yifei transferred the shares to people from another country, wouldn’t the project change hands?
The head office leader just instructed her to execute the order without further explanation, leaving Wu Shuwei frustrated, leading her to drink.
No point thinking anymore. Wu Shuwei was at least not too panicked. She felt that even without Li Yifei saving her, she should think of ways to see if she could rescue herself.
Li Yifei had already met up with Sarama’s thirty soldiers. They arrived in five vehicles, armed with advanced weapons, six per car. Li Yifei noticed that half of them were female soldiers, equally impressive. After saluting, Sarama issued orders.
"Six per group, there are three roads here, search along them, the police will cooperate with you. The remaining three groups will follow us, move forward, find the target, stick to the plan. But one thing, ensure the hostage’s safety, or don’t bother returning."
Thirty soldiers received their orders and automatically split into groups one, two, and three, heading in three directions, while the others followed Li Yifei’s car forward.
Few surveillance cameras were along this road, so information was unclear, resorting to traditional methods of searching. Certainly, if they could mobilize American satellites to help search, it might be faster, but Sarama didn’t have that authority, nor did Li Yifei have authority to use the BeiDou System for target location now.
If Wu Shuwei’s dad intervened, it might be effective, but that also wasn’t guaranteed.
En route, a call from Sashar came. With such a big incident, it was only natural he knew. But Sashar’s attitude wasn’t quite right. He laughed first on the phone, saying to Li Yifei: "Your compatriot is extraordinarily unlucky, isn’t she? It’s only been a few days, and she’s kidnapped again."
"Don’t ask me, I don’t know either." Li Yifei responded.
Sashar dropped his laughter, saying: "Okay, I’ve sent out personal bodyguards already. If you need additional help, just let me know, don’t hesitate!"
