Chapter 1178 - 1188: Retreat!
CHAPTER 1178: CHAPTER 1188: RETREAT!
"Retreat!" Tang Zhong ordered.
Jiang Shuiyao beside him was stunned. They were about to kill the enemy, yet they were retreating? That seemed too outrageous!
But by this time, Tang Zhong had already left. Jiang Shuiyao had no intention of staying here either and turned to follow him.
The leading cavalryman previously saw his companions getting slain so easily and trembled all over. If the opponent could kill his companions this effortlessly, killing him would definitely be just as easy!
But now, it seemed rather quiet around—were the killers gone?
"Gone?" the leading cavalryman paused for a moment.
In the next second, he turned and left the place. He must find the other cavalrymen and stick with them, immediately riding his skeleton horse along the route they came.
Tang Zhong and Jiang Shuiyao had already left, and Jiang Shuiyao couldn’t understand why Tang Zhong would do this.
"Why are we retreating? Killing one is one less enemy; they’ll soon be wiped out!"
While checking the light map, Tang Zhong replied, "Don’t ask why, just do as I say!"
"Fine!" Jiang Shuiyao stopped asking altogether.
"Keep following me!" Tang Zhong found several small squads of Hell Skeleton Soldiers.
Jiang Shuiyao nodded.
Following behind Tang Zhong, they soon arrived at a location.
Unexpectedly, they found several more cavalrymen not far away.
"This... this!" Jiang Shuiyao was at a loss for words. How did this guy know everything?
"Continue with the previous plan, leave one alive!" Tang Zhong said.
"Oh..." Jiang Shuiyao decided not to ask any questions and just started taking action.
Repeating the same actions as before.
Ultimately, the leading cavalry fled in panic.
Then Tang Zhong led Jiang Shuiyao in continuing to search for such cavalry groups,
leaving Jiang Shuiyao with growing confusion.
After ambushing about a dozen groups, only then Tang Zhong was satisfied: "Alright, that’s about enough!"
"Enough for what?" Jiang Shuiyao increasingly didn’t understand, her mind full of questions.
"We’ve won. Those people will retreat soon!" Tang Zhong stated.
"No way, we killed so many of them; they should be seeking revenge, not retreating. I don’t believe it!" Jiang Shuiyao said.
Tang Zhong chuckled, offering no further explanation.
Meanwhile, the cavalrymen who encountered the ambush started fleeing wildly.
They feared being amidst the mist; after barely escaping the danger, what if something happened again?
Two cavalrymen fleeing in panic met in the mist, mistaking each other for the enemy. Drawing their long knives, they prepared to fight, only to find they were on the same side, both saying, "Quick, we encountered an enemy attack!"
They looked at each other again: "You also encountered an attack?"
"Yes!"
Just then, more cavalry rushed out from another direction, seeing the two in a daze: "Hurry, there’s an enemy attack! Those people are hiding in the mist, completely invisible!"
The two cavalrymen turned to the newcomers: "You encountered it too?"
The three cavalrymen now gathered together, dumbfounded, beginning to guess. Suddenly one of them realized: "No wonder those two new recruits ran in this direction; turns out there’s reinforcements here. Damn it, we’ve entered an ambush; we must find the captain and leave here!"
The three hurried off.
Eventually, near a fake mountain, they encountered the captain of the Hell Skeleton Soldiers Asura Legion, surrounded by more than a dozen fleeing cavalrymen.
Having heard the cavalrymen’s report, the captain’s brows furrowed: "You say there’s an ambush nearby?"
"Yes, absolutely an ambush, and not ordinary people either. They specifically cut the skeleton horse legs, catching us off guard to kill!"
"We experienced the same thing!"
The captain’s brows narrowed, and he said, "You people all went in different directions but encountered attacks simultaneously in a short time... chances are, we’ve entered an ambush?"
"Then what should we do, captain?" the cavalrymen asked.
"Leave? No way, those two new recruits discovered the connection between the demons and our Hell Skeleton Soldiers. If reported to the Galactic Guard higher-ups, it’ll be trouble. The commander said it must not be exposed!" the captain said.
"But we can’t find those two new recruits right now, and it’s unclear what ambushes lie here. If there’s a strong military unit, that would be terrible!" a cavalryman said.
"We can’t afford to wipe out the entire troop. Let’s go, captain, there’s definitely an ambush here!" the cavalrymen pleaded.
They were genuinely afraid. The opponent killed without being seen; they had no clue how it was done!
The captain’s brow tightened; being separated into so many groups yet simultaneously ambushed confirmed an ambush for sure. Surviving comes first, so he said, "Let’s go, we’re retreating!"
And with that, the remaining couple dozen cavalry fled on horseback in panic.
Meanwhile, Tang Zhong and Jiang Shuiyao were still hiding in the shadows.
After waiting for some time, Tang Zhong said, "Let’s go; it’s time for us to leave!"
Jiang Shuiyao remained vigilant: "Why? Those cavalry are still out there. We killed their people, surely they’d be mad and want to kill us. Going out is as good as suicide. If we had killed them all earlier, there would be much less burden in fighting!"
"They’ve retreated!" Tang Zhong replied.
"How can you be so sure?" Jiang Shuiyao was skeptical.
"They’re scared. Unless I’m mistaken, after releasing so many cavalry, they have already reported being ambushed simultaneously to their boss!" Tang Zhong said.
"So what?" Jiang Shuiyao asked. "That doesn’t mean they’ll retreat!"
"Let me ask you, if your subordinates reported being attacked, what would you do?" Tang Zhong asked.
"I’d find out who attacked them, then kill them!" Jiang Shuiyao responded.
"And if a dozen soldiers spread out in different areas came together saying they were ambushed, what would you think?" Tang Zhong continued.
"I... I’d think there’s an army ambushing us!" Jiang Shuiyao said.
"And would you pursue them if faced with an army?" Tang Zhong asked.
"Of course not! I’m not stupid; I’d never pursue them!" Jiang Shuiyao replied.
"Then that’s good. If those soldiers say they didn’t even see what the attackers looked like, what would you think?" Tang Zhong asked.
"If they didn’t see the enemy, then... that would definitely be scary! No pursuit, retreat first!" Jiang Shuiyao said.
"And now, what the Hell Skeleton Soldiers’ boss is thinking should be similar to what you’re thinking." Tang Zhong smiled and said.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuiyao’s eyes lit up: "I get it, I get it!"
