Chapter 769: Chapter 23 Royal Family Scandal (2)
“I first saw a Dawn Knight openly display such disgust for someone,” Mo Yuankai said, “after all, she’s usually good-tempered.”
Orianna said in shock, “She has a good temper?”
“A person who can get along peacefully with Ah Ce and not lose their temper must indeed have a good one.”
Orianna recalled how she had been provoked to hit someone yesterday and couldn’t help but admit, “There is some truth in that…”
Knights in white armor bustled to and fro within the headquarters, greeting the two warmly. Orianna smiled and returned the gestures, overhearing Mo Yuankai ask, “So what did the Crown Prince do back then?”
Orianna led him into her private office where no one else could overhear them, then solemnly said, “Something very despicable…I would even say, shameful.”
Mo Yuankai quietly listened.
“This issue started with Jane… I know you only have a bad impression of her, Mr. Mo. But to all of us, she once was a bright and outgoing girl, a diligent and upright Knight. Two years ago, Knight Alandia acknowledged Jane, agreeing for her to become her apprentice, even before she became a Manifestation Mage…”
To be recognized by a Dawn Knight, who had stringent requirements for character, Jane Della must have truly been a good person back then. But Mo Yuankai understood that many stories often contained a detestable “but,” a word that not only turned good into bad but sometimes prevented bad from turning good.
“But the new position brought her too much unbearable pressure,” Orianna said desolately, “Not everyone liked Alandia. Many dared not openly criticize her but would gossip behind her back; some of that malice fell on her apprentice. As a result, Jane became increasingly irritable and just at that time…”
“Prince Charlie appeared?” guessed Mo Yuankai.
“Just as you said, he is an unscrupulous person skilled in sweet talk, with high authority, and a handsome face. You know, such men are poison to many girls,” Orianna expressed with extreme dislike. “He once pursued Knight Alandia and was unequivocally rejected. But he didn’t intend to give up, he came up with a new scheme…Prince Charlie, harboring ulterior motives, approached Jane.”
Mo Yuankai exclaimed in shock, “He deceived that girl’s feelings in order to get close to the Dawn Knight? Can people really live so shamelessly?”
Orianna shook her head gloomily, “We all warned Jane, but…she didn’t want to believe it…she was completely lost in that beautiful illusion. She often told us how much of a gentleman Crown Prince Charlie was, believing they would soon be married. She wanted to introduce her future husband to Alandia to help resolve some past misunderstandings.”
Even the poorest in the east district knew that a Crown Prince would never marry a Knight’s apprentice.
She hesitated for a moment, made up her mind, and said, “In the end, Alandia took drastic action. She appeared during their date, demanded forcefully that Prince Charlie leave, and directly told Jane in his presence: ‘Knight Jane, this man does not love you, he only sees you as a tool to satisfy his desires. For your safety and future, you should stay as far away from this despicable man as possible.'”
Orianna pinched her own fingertips, her voice filled with sorrow.
“That day I first saw what it looked like when human dreams are shattered. It was like an invisible glass bead shattering in the eyes; you couldn’t hear the sound, but you could feel the fragments piercing the eyes, turning fantasies mixed with pain into tear drops.”
Jane nearly collapsed… She screamed that Alandia was jealous of her, that she didn’t want to see her happy and was being malicious… She said many ugly words.
Orianna seemed on the verge of tears; Mo Yuankai silently handed her a tissue. She wiped the corners of her eyes and said, “After some time, Jane apologized to Alandia, and of course, the Dawn Knight forgave her… We all comforted her… But I vaguely felt something changed in her from that time on. I didn’t want to believe it… I didn’t want to believe it.”
Even if you noticed it, how could the Dawn Knight not know? That intelligent woman must have realized it sooner than the naïve Orianna, yet she said nothing… Was she also sentimental? Did she feel guilty toward her apprentice? Or perhaps, did she not want her friends to leave her side due to changes in attitude?
These remained unknown, and ultimately, Jane still committed wrongdoings for which she was punished.
Mo Yuankai felt suffocated, just because of one villain, everyone’s lives were affected. This was the story he hated the most.
“I regret it, I should have personally beaten him up.”
“He’s the Crown Prince,” Orianna said helplessly.
Crown Prince or not, the United Empire has dealt with all kinds, not missing one more worthless person.
Mo Yuankai shook his head, “Such a person being Crown Prince really trips off the tongue.”
Orianna quietly reminded him that this was a topic Knights should not discuss, Mo Yuankai stopped talking about it. On the way to the workshop, he thought, some inherent wickedness is tough to change. With Jackson and Grey as precedents, any high-ranking individual with a sense of responsibility would worry about the kingdom’s succession rights, wouldn’t they?
Mo Yuankai and Orianna walked away. They did not realize that a young man in black clothing had been following them not too far away. Jane Della stood beside the Hidden Law Master, clearly hearing their entire conversation.
