Chapter 784: Chapter 27 Royal Family Scandal (6)_4

Evil also has its own space to thrive.

Do not forsake your life because it is vile.

Think about, consider how one such as yourself should live in this world…

Find your true way to exist.

“I… I…”

Jane’s hair was soaked in blood, which dripped down her forehead along her fringe, tracing crimson scars upon her face. The man in white robes and a tall crown smiled encouragingly at her, his voice sweet as honey.

“What do you seek deep in your heart?”

She clutched at her face, her voice barely a whisper, trembling with fear as she revealed her darkest thoughts.

“I want… I want to take revenge on Charlie… I want… to kill him.”

“Why?” asked Situ Yi.

The icy liquid that had accumulated in her chest found a crevice between bone and flesh to seep through. The dreadful coldness slowly infiltrated her body, making her shiver uncontrollably.

“I hate him. I hate him for deceiving me. I am envious of him. I envy the love he receives from so many.”

Situ Yi nodded with a smile.

That icy liquid suddenly surged, hate gushing from her chest endlessly, like an incoming tide. Jane was startled by herself. Was her heart really hiding so many emotions, like a bitterly cold ocean? Yet, she found herself growing accustomed to the sensation, feeling comfortable, even natural.

“I envy Gongsun Ce,” she said. “I envy that he could stand beside Alandia instead of me. I envy his greater intelligence than mine.”

Thump, thump. Thump, thump. The icy emotions replaced her blood, coursing through her veins. She leaned against the wall and stood up, her legs still trembling. She wanted to cry, yet laughter came out.

“I am envious of all of them. I envy those who are stronger than me, happier than me. I cannot bear to see their joy, I’ll do anything, even hurt myself just so they won’t have it easy!”

Jane stopped, clutching her chest, and cried out hysterically, “But I am happy, Mr. Situ… Realizing I am such a hideous person, I actually want to laugh!!”

Situ Yi clapped encouragingly, as if the audience applauded the protagonist’s monologue.

“This is your true heart, your true self! I ask again, what do you seek in your heart?”

“I’m jealous of Alandia!” she exclaimed excitedly. “I envy her! I want to hurt her, I want to ruin her, I want to destroy the Knight of Dawn!!”

Situ Yi clapped in admiration, both of them laughing, Jane’s laughter hard-pressed to catch her breath. Their laughter was as cunning as a ghost’s, twisting with a sense of warped calm. Situ Yi put his arm around the shoulders of the hysterical woman as they left the alley.

Outside the alley, the sun shone brightly, the world reborn anew. It was as if God led His Angel Envoy to a brand new realm known only to them.

Jane Della ran off joyously, disappearing without a trace. Situ Yi stood at the mouth of the alley, his smile gradually fading. He walked a distance to where Jane and the Crown Prince had met. He calmly watched across the street until the procession that had passed by earlier came into view.

It was Prince Charlie, holding a bunch of flowers, followed by his guards.

Situ Yi’s fingers twitched slightly, and Charlie’s lips moved mechanically a few times, like a puppet.

“These flowers are much prettier than before,” the Crown Prince said to his guards.

They quickly moved on, disappearing from Situ Yi’s sight. The man in white robes and a tall crown smiled again, faintly, like an illusion, as if an audience relishing a satisfying play.

“The true feelings that arise from the heart are far better than the false intentions planted by others’ hands.”

The Hidden Law Master had just arrived, standing behind him. The young man in black pondered his friend’s words before saying, “Sometimes I am afraid of you.”

“And why is that?” asked Situ Yi without turning back.

“Indeed, those are the emotions they already possess, but you draw them out, amplify them, leading them to their own doom, turning them into characters of your story… It’s all your arrangement, yet all their own choice.

Seeing those butchers who have killed thousands, those who are mad with frenzy, I am merely filled with the urge to fight. But watching you destroy someone’s soul, I feel a coldness to my very bones,” the Hidden Law Master shook his head. “Because they are merely skilled at killing, while you are an expert at destroying a person.”

“Is there really a difference between great evils?” Situ Yi joked lightly.

“Yeah… still thinking about such useless things at this point,” the Hidden Law Master said self-mockingly. “Consider it a womanly compassion of mine.”

The two figures, one in white and one in black, blended into the crowd, unnoticed by those around them.
