Capítulo 1517: Chapter 1517: Grandfather and Grandson! Third Watch
“Grandpa… grandpa… is there really such a thing as immortals in this world?”
A little boy with a soft voice looked up at the elder Ye Qiu beside him and asked, his face full of innocence.
This was a fishing boat, and fishing season was over. If not for his grandson, the elder would never have taken the boat out to sea.
Hearing his grandson’s question, the elder smiled: “Of course not, the so-called immortals are actually figments of imagination. You’re still young. When you go to school and learn, you’ll know that immortals are just legends, fictional.”
The little boy made an “oh” sound and his eyes shifted: “But grandpa, every time before you go fishing, you offer rituals.”
“Hehe, silly child, that’s to pray for good luck, just a way to comfort myself,” the elder chuckled.
“Oh, I see…” The little boy looked thoughtful.
The fishing boat drifted on the sea, not too fast or slow, when suddenly the little boy pointed ahead: “Grandpa, why is it thundering over there when it’s still clear here?”
Upon hearing this, the elder looked over and indeed, a few hundred meters ahead, there were dark clouds filled with flashing lightning, constantly striking down. Compared to their side, it was like doomsday.
The elder immediately stopped the fishing boat, feeling uneasy about the many flashes of lightning.
“Wow, grandpa, look, it seems like there’s someone there! The lightning is striking him,” the little boy pointed ahead, a bit excited because he saw a truly astonishing sight.
The elder was stunned. This was the first time he had encountered such a scene in his fishing life. It looked as if that person was fighting against heaven and earth, struggling with the lightning.
Boom…
A shocking Heavenly Tribulation struck down, scaring the little boy so much he immediately covered his ears. Then he saw the figure battling the lightning was suddenly blasted into the sea.
The little boy became worried: “Grandpa, do you think he might be struck dead by the lightning?”
“Probably,” the elder replied.
“Grandpa, why do you think the lightning is striking him? Isn’t it said that only bad people get struck down by lightning? Could he be a great villain?” the little boy wondered.
The elder had a headache answering his grandson’s question. Although the saying about bad people getting struck by lightning was a proverb, in reality, there were hardly any people truly struck. He hadn’t expected his grandson to remember this saying.
The little boy was young and inexperienced, but the elder, having lived over half a century and experienced many of life’s ups and downs, pondered things more deeply than the boy.
In the elder’s mind, this was like a scene from a TV series where a monster undergoes a tribulation to become immortal.
Boom boom boom…
Once again, five consecutive Heavenly Tribulations descended from the dark clouds, electrifying the entire area of the sea.
“Grandpa, do you think he’ll die?”
“Let’s go take a look. Mom said saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda.”
Initially, the elder disagreed with approaching. The appearance of the lightning was so eerie, especially the figure that could withstand it and battled several times without being killed. If they went recklessly and the figure was still alive, would it harm the grandfather and grandson?
The elder didn’t want to take a risk. He was old; if he died, so be it. But his grandson was still young, just starting life. He didn’t want his grandson getting hurt out of curiosity.
“It’s dangerous there; we cannot go closer,” the elder rejected his grandson’s suggestion.
The little boy, having fewer worries, raised his head and said: “Grandpa, we can’t ignore someone in need. If everyone were like us, not daring to save others because of danger, one day we might be in danger and no one would save us.”
The elder was very stubborn and decided not to risk his grandson’s life.
“Grandpa, let’s go and take a look.”
“Please, I beg you.”
The little boy kept pleading, and finally, the elder, having no choice, said: “Alright, we’ll go, but you must listen to me and not move randomly.”
“Okay, hehe…” the little boy smiled, and then the elder steered the fishing boat closer.
The dark clouds were starting to disperse, and a figure floated on the surface of the sea.
As the elder got closer, he realized that, as his grandson said, it was indeed a person. The elder was amazed at what kind of figure this could be, able to collide with lightning.
“Grandpa, let’s save him. The sea water is so cold.”
“If he catches a cold, it would be terrible.”
The elder moved the fishing boat closer. At this moment, Ye Qiu, who had been struck all over by the Heavenly Tribulation and whose fate was unknown, had lost all consciousness and awareness.
After much effort, they finally managed to pull Ye Qiu aboard.
The elder checked Ye Qiu’s breathing and listened to his heartbeat. Sensing there was some movement, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Oh, it’s an uncle. He looks thirsty,” the little boy noticed Ye Qiu’s chapped lips and immediately opened the bottle hanging around his neck, pouring a little onto Ye Qiu’s lips.
Having done this, the little boy was very pleased with himself: “Now that’s settled, the uncle shouldn’t be thirsty.”
The elder gazed at Ye Qiu for a long time. Since he was alive, they just had to wait for him to wake up.
But waiting and waiting, Ye Qiu remained unconscious. In the end, having no other option, the elder had to take Ye Qiu back to the fishing village.
When Ye Qiu awoke, he saw a little boy studying him.
“Uncle’s awake, uncle’s awake.” The little boy jumped up and down, very happy.
“Where am I?” Ye Qiu glanced around and realized he was not at sea but in a simple room.
He remembered that he had passed out after enduring the last Heavenly Tribulation. It seemed he was saved by this little boy’s family.
“Where are your parents?” Ye Qiu asked the little boy.
“Grandpa went to get a doctor for you. Mom and Dad are working outside, only grandpa and I are home,” said the little boy.
Ye Qiu smiled. This little guy in front of him was just seven or eight years old, with a chubby face and a bit of Spiritual Energy.
Ye Qiu stood up, feeling perfectly fine and certainly not in need of a doctor. Besides, who could surpass him in medical skills?
“Thank your grandpa for saving me. Uncle has to go now,” Ye Qiu said, touching the little boy’s head.
“Uncle, are you okay? Grandpa will be back soon, with a doctor to treat you,” said the little boy.
Ye Qiu knelt down: “Thank you for your kindness, but I really am fine.”
Ye Qiu prepared to leave, and suddenly turned back to the little boy: “Oh, by the way, do you want to learn kung fu?”
The little boy blinked: “Will learning kung fu get me struck by lightning?”
Ye Qiu was taken aback, thinking to himself that this little guy must have seen him during the tribulation event.
“Big brother is giving you a gift. If you ever want to become strong and protect yourself and those you care about, you can take this.” Ye Qiu placed a cloth bag into the little boy’s hands, then patted his head and channeled his inner power to quickly enhance the boy’s constitution.
This was Ye Qiu’s way of repaying the little boy and his family for saving him.
Ye Qiu smiled as he left, waving to the little boy, then disappeared into the sky in a flash.
Many years later, when the little boy saw a statue of Ye Qiu, he finally realized that the person he encountered in his youth was none other than Immortal Ye!
