Chapter 220
While the three of them were chatting, Qin Jiuyue finally finished organizing her things and came down from upstairs. She glared at Su Lin; if it wasn''t for him, she wouldn''t have made such a scene.
She was sure that Lin Xiaowan and the others had seen her in a disheveled state just a while ago. Then, she greeted the two women with a smile, “Xiaowan, Xiaoyu, please take good care of me in the coming days.”
“Sister Xiaoyue, welcome, welcome! It’s great to have you move in, but did your family agree?” Lin Xiaowan asked with some confusion.
Hearing this, Qin Jiuyue''s face stiffened a bit, then she replied, “It was them who let Su Lin take me away.”
“What, really?” Xia Shiyu was astonished, her eyes filled with disbelief.
“Heh! There’s a story there, Xiaowan, Xiaoyu...”
“Don''t you dare say it, Su Lin, you better not,” Qin Jiuyue suddenly didn''t care about her image and covered Su Lin''s mouth firmly, then turned to Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu with a forced smile, “It''s just some personal reasons, personal reasons.”
Lin Xiaowan''s eyes darted around, clearly sensing there was more to the story, something that was making Qin Jiuyue uncomfortable; otherwise, she wouldn''t have reacted so strongly.
Lin Xiaowan was quite curious about what could cause such a reaction in Qin Jiuyue. She knew that asking Su Lin and Qin Jiuyue directly would not yield any answers, but she could always ask later at bedtime.
“Sister Xiaoyue, since it''s personal, we won''t pry,” Xia Shiyu chimed in to ease the situation.
“Right, right, let''s not pry,” echoed Lin Xiaowan.
Seeing this, Qin Jiuyue gave Su Lin a warning look before letting him go, “Alright, let''s eat, I''m really hungry.”
“Sure, sure, let''s eat.”
Qin Jiuyue''s arrival didn''t cause much disruption at the villa. Besides an extra pair of chopsticks at the dinner table and another room being occupied at night, nothing much changed. In fact, Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu had known she would come eventually; they just hadn''t expected it to be so soon.
After dinner, Xia Shiyu took the initiative to wash the dishes while Qin Jiuyue hurried upstairs.
“What''s Sister Xiaoyue doing up there?”
“What else could she be doing? Practicing, of course. She is a cultivation maniac. “All she thinks about is leaping across rooftops and being a hero,” Su Lin said with a light laugh.
“Ah, compared to her, Xiaoyu and I are so lazy.”
“Not at all, you two are just busier than her. She spends all day eating and sleeping without a care in the world, while you have to worry about work. Naturally, you don''t have as much time to practice,” Su Lin reassured her.
Lin Xiaowan pouted, knowing that Su Lin was just comforting her, but that was enough for her.
“By the way, Su Lin, I''ve asked Aunt Su to return to Donghai tomorrow.”
“Return to Donghai? Why?”
Lin Xiaowan rolled her eyes, “Don''t you know? Xiao Chen''s master, Wang Yannian, has come down from the mountains.”
“Wang Yannian has come down from the mountains?” Su Lin was a bit surprised.@@@@
Trusting Lin Xiaowan''s integrity, but using Qin Jiuyue''s story to entertain her seemed a bit too playboy-ish.
Seeing Su Lin''s hesitation, Lin Xiaowan whispered in his ear, “If you tell me, tonight I''ll xxx...”
Su Lin looked at Lin Xiaowan, his face breaking into a mischievous smile, “Really?”
Blushing, Lin Xiaowan nodded, “I''ve never broken my word before, but just this once, no exceptions.”
Su Lin joyfully agreed, “Just this once, just this once.”
“Humph, behave.”
The two exchanged glances and laughed together. Su Lin laughed thinking about fulfilling a long-held wish, while Lin Xiaowan laughed in anticipation of finally satisfying her curiosity.
“Su Lin, Xiaowan, what are you laughing about?”
Su Lin shrugged, “Nothing much, Xiaoyu, wanna watch some TV?”
Xiaoyu shook her head, “I''d rather not, I don''t really like the dramas Xiaowan watches.”
Xiaowan retorted, “Those dramas are touching, you just haven''t watched enough. If you watch more, you''re sure to get hooked.”
Xiaoyu shook her head again, “I just can''t get into them, they''re either about cancer, car accidents, or amnesia. I don’t understand how you never tire of them, Xiaowan.”
Xiaowan giggled, “It''s just a way to pass the time.”
“What do you do if you don''t watch TV, Xiaoyu?”
“I practice, or I go over the materials I''ve read today in my mind and plan for tomorrow,” Xiaoyu said with a smile.
Xiaowan sighed, “You work too hard, Xiaoyu.” You need to rest properly.”
Su Lin nodded in agreement, “Xiaowan''s right.” Don''t keep yourself so wounded up all the time. You''re only human; even machines need to rest and get oiled occasionally.”
“Okay, okay, I do rest, Su Lin, you make me blush saying that.”
Su Lin knew Xiaoyu probably hadn’t taken in a word; she had always been like this, despite his numerous reminders.
Watching Xiaoyu go upstairs, and seeing Xiaowan suddenly find her soap opera dull, she handed the remote to Su Lin, “It’s not interesting anymore, I’m heading up too.”
“Really? Why’d you suddenly find it boring?” Su Lin asked, puzzled.
“Just... don’t feel like watching anymore.”
“Alright, might as well go to bed early then.”
With that, the quiet night settled around them, each retreating to their thoughts and the privacy of their rooms.
