Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 18: Agreeing to Divorce
CHAPTER 18: CHAPTER 18: AGREEING TO DIVORCE
Early the next morning.
Knowing that Adrian Grant doesn’t want to see her, Raina Lowell doesn’t appear before him to show her presence.
She goes to the garage herself, chooses a car, and heads to the suburban manor where the children live.
She must show up every day to see the children, otherwise she worries, and the children will also be concerned about her.
But this time, when she arrives, she is stopped at the entrance by the security guard.
Despite her efforts, Raina Lowell couldn’t persuade the guard to let her in.
With no other choice, she takes out her phone to call Caleb Landon, asking him to give her a pass.
Unexpectedly, on the other end of the line, Caleb Landon says:
"Madam, the president’s intent is for you to only see the children once a week."
"You see, you haven’t arrived at the company yet, nor have you done your job properly. You’re not being responsible, and you won’t be able to see your children this way."
Raina Lowell stands at the manor’s entrance.
Only tens of meters away from her children.
Yet, she can’t even take a glance at them.
She softly pleads with Caleb Landon:
"Since I’m already here, please let them allow me in. After I see my children, can I go to the company immediately?"
Caleb Landon still refuses:
"This is the president’s intention, you better hurry over to work, or else if the president gets angry you might not see those two children for a month again."
He hung up the phone, not daring to say more.
Raina Lowell is furious.
Damned Adrian Grant.
How can he be so ruthless?
What right does he have to separate her from the children?
What gives him the right to stop her from seeing her own kids?
Feeling very angry, Raina Lowell puts away her phone and drives to the company.
Upon arriving, she stormed into the office wanting to confront Adrian Grant, but was stopped by Caleb Landon.
In a voice only the two of them could hear, he bent down and whispered a reminder in Raina Lowell’s ear:
"Madam, the president is actually quite easy to talk to. If you soften up and admit your mistake, apologize, he might allow you to see the children."
Raina Lowell hesitated.
Actually, from Adrian Grant’s attitude toward her children, she could sense that the old man wasn’t as harsh as he claimed.
Perhaps softening might truly earn his forgiveness?
Raina Lowell agreed, and went to the pantry to make a cup of coffee for Adrian Grant.
Then she pushed the door open and walked into the office.
Seeing Adrian Grant diligently working in front of the computer, she placed the coffee down and stood beside him holding the tablet Caleb Landon had given her.
She began to report today’s schedule.
"There’s a meeting at ten, and a dinner gathering at six in the evening."
Today’s schedule seemed quite relaxed.
After speaking, Raina Lowell saw Adrian Grant buried in his documents, not responding at all.
Recalling Caleb Landon’s advice, she gathered her courage and spoke:
"Honey, I’m sorry. I apologize for hiding the fact that I have two children outside from you. Can you forgive me this once?"
After the words were spoken, Raina Lowell lowered her head, her nerves stretching tight.
This was also the first time she called him ’Honey’.
She knew that such flattery might not necessarily have any effect.
No man would accept his wife having two children outside.
But to see her own children, she would try any possible method.
"What did you call me?"
Adrian Grant paused his work and looked up at Raina Lowell.
His tone was as cold as the winter of December, "Do you have the right? Don’t you feel nauseated when you say it?"
Last night she said it herself, she found him disgusting.
Why this attempt to please now?
No matter the reason, he would never forgive her.
Raina Lowell was brutally rebuked, feeling extremely embarrassed.
Facing Adrian Grant’s gaze, she no longer pretended and questioned:
"What right do you have to let me see my children once a week? Adrian Grant, if you can’t accept that I have two children, then let’s divorce."
The marriage isn’t ended, yet he restricts her from seeing her children.
What exactly does he want?
To get back at her?
No matter his intentions, she would resist to the end.
"I will divorce you."
Adrian Grant didn’t bother looking at her, scowling darkly:
"I’ve already said, whenever you clear the debt, I will divorce you."
"But you can’t stop me from being with my children."
She would work hard to earn money to repay him. What gives him the right to stop her from seeing her children?
Sometimes she really couldn’t understand, this man wasn’t that ruthless deep down, yet his words pierced like a knife, stabbing straight into her heart.
"Get out."
Adrian Grant really didn’t want to argue with her.
Always going on endlessly.
Ruining his mood first thing in the morning.
Raina Lowell stood firm, refusing to leave, stubbornly stated:
"You can’t stop me from seeing my children. They are so young, they can’t be without their mother."
This morning, she didn’t see them, she was already worried.
Truly afraid her babies won’t eat well and sleep peacefully.
Adrian Grant had lost patience, burying his head seemingly calm, but his words were truly intimidating:
"If you don’t get out now, you can forget about seeing them for a month."
Raina Lowell clenched her teeth in fury.
She really wanted to pick up the coffee cup and smash it onto his head.
Yet for the sake of her children, she had to swallow her dissatisfaction, and leave first.
In the afternoon, during the dinner gathering, Caleb Landon was occupied with other matters.
Raina Lowell drove Adrian Grant to the location.
She thought she would just be a driver.
Unexpectedly, Adrian Grant invited her to the dining table.
In the spacious and luxurious private room, it was filled with business tycoons.
Raina Lowell scanned around, a dinner gathering with over a dozen people.
The big shots were dressed in suits, gracefully and properly.
But they were all aging, looking around fifty or sixty, only Adrian Grant was the youngest.
Each boss was accompanied by a secretary, and all the secretaries were young and beautiful.
She wonders if secretaries in such circles are shared.
The old men sat down, immediately ordering their secretaries to please other bosses.
Raina Lowell sat beside Adrian Grant, truly disliking this atmosphere.
When she turned to Adrian Grant, wanting to find an excuse to leave.
A president in his fifties next to her raised his glass, smiling courteously at Adrian Grant.
"Thank you, President Grant, for gracing us with your presence at this dinner. I see that our secretaries are no match for the one beside President Grant, so we won’t embarrass ourselves. President Grant, I toast to you."
Adrian Grant, dressed in an expensive suit, casually leaned against the chair, exuding an aura of unrivaled elegance and dignity.
He showed no goodwill towards the flattering president, his handsome face darkened.
"I have been unwell recently, should not drink, let my secretary accompany you."
Although the president’s expression slightly changed upon hearing this.
He dared not speak more, immediately raising his glass and smiling at Raina Lowell:
"Young lady, I’ll have to trouble you."
Even though Raina Lowell was a mother of two, she was only 24 years old.
But with her youthful and delicate round face, dressed in non-professional secretary clothes, she looked like a vibrant and lovely college student.
Those presidents in their fifties and sixties naturally called her young lady.
Raina Lowell hesitantly looked at Adrian Grant, "I don’t know how to drink."
And she’s also afraid of alcohol.
Four years ago because of a glass of wine, she was...
Raina Lowell couldn’t bear to think of that incident four years ago.
Yet Adrian Grant was about to push her into the fire pit, rising and tossing out:
"Feel free to proceed, anything you need can be addressed to my secretary, I’ll just step out to the restroom."
He strode out of the private room.
Leaving Raina Lowell surrounded by over a dozen old men, unable to escape.
