Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 20: Slapped Adrian Grant
CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: SLAPPED ADRIAN GRANT
When Raina Lowell rushed to the company, she discovered it was the weekend.
No one was working.
Adrian Grant wasn’t at the company either.
She anxiously called him.
But he had blocked her, and she couldn’t get through.
With no other choice, she called Caleb Landon, who answered. Raina Lowell was frantic.
"Assistant Landon, my daughter is sick. Can you make an exception and let me into the estate to see her?"
"Or allow Mrs. Chen to take her to the hospital."
Her Aurora had always been in poor health.
If anything happened this time, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself.
Caleb Landon sighed, "Ma’am, I’m really sorry, the president doesn’t allow them to leave even for a moment, and he doesn’t allow you to see them either."
"But my Aurora is sick, she’s still so young, and if she’s not treated in time, it could be very serious."
Raina Lowell was so anxious that she was about to cry.
Previously, she thought Adrian Grant had a harsh exterior but a soft heart.
Now, it seemed he was just coldhearted and ruthless.
If her daughter couldn’t get timely medical attention and something happened, she wouldn’t let him get away with it.
Caleb Landon maintained the same stance.
"I’m sorry, I’m just following the president’s orders. Maybe you could plead with the president yourself?"
Raina Lowell knew Caleb Landon was just an employee.
Even if she talked herself hoarse, Caleb Landon might not pity her and secretly let her into the estate.
After getting the address from Caleb Landon, Raina Lowell had no choice but to hurry over.
By the time she arrived, it was already noon.
This was a casual business venue with a golf course and a perfect spot for business tycoons to meet and talk business.
It was the lunch hour.
Using her position as Adrian Grant’s secretary, Raina Lowell easily walked into the club and found the restaurant.
Thinking of her daughter, she couldn’t care about anything else. Seeing Adrian Grant indeed sitting in the restaurant, she walked over hastily, losing her composure, and said:
"Adrian Grant, I have something urgent to discuss with you."
After speaking, she noticed that Isabelle Everett and Ethan Everett, the eldest son of The Everett Family, were also sitting next to him.
As well as a few other gentlemen from high society.
Each dressed impeccably, with outstanding appearances.
Raina Lowell recognized them.
And they all knew her too.
But everyone knew she was just Adrian Grant’s shadow, an orphaned girl living at The Grant Family.
Someone with her status didn’t belong in their high society.
If not for Adrian Grant’s sake, no one would ever pay her any attention.
Raina Lowell was sensible enough not to force herself into circles she couldn’t enter.
Despite feeling she shouldn’t be there, she was worried about her daughter.
She could only brace herself to ask Adrian Grant for help.
At the dining table, Adrian Grant appeared unperturbed, eating gracefully and elegantly.
Without even sparing Raina Lowell a glance.
Instead, Ethan Everett next to him looked at Raina Lowell twice, then shifted his gaze to Adrian Grant.
"Adrian, why don’t we let her sit down and eat with us?"
"She’s not worthy."
Adrian Grant scolded Caleb Landon coldly, "What are you standing there for? Get her out of here for me."
Caleb Landon got up and approached Raina Lowell, signaling with his eyes for her to relent.
His family’s president had a harsh tongue but a soft heart after all.
Moreover, he could tell the president still had some feelings for Raina Lowell.
Otherwise, he would’ve divorced her and let her go long ago.
Especially after learning that Raina Lowell had given birth to someone else’s child, the president was in agony, drinking alone every night.
Even when drunk, he would call out Raina Lowell’s name.
If that wasn’t affection, then what was?
Raina Lowell also saw Caleb Landon’s hint.
She moved past Caleb Landon, ran to Adrian Grant’s side, lowered her posture, and pleaded.
"Adrian Grant, I really have something urgent to tell you. Can we talk somewhere else?"
"I have nothing to say to you, leave!"
Adrian Grant remained expressionless, sitting upright.
Seeing that his close friends were watching him for entertainment, he lost his temper:
"Are you all full? If you have nothing to do, get out."
The crowd showed awkward expressions.
Even if they weren’t full.
But when the prince got angry, who dared to stay.
A few sensible ones hurriedly got up and said:
"Ahem, I’m full. You all take your time, I’ll wait for you at the course."
"I’m full too."
"See you at the course."
The young gentlemen quickly vanished, leaving only the Everett siblings.
Ethan Everett, too, was sensible, getting up and pulling Isabelle Everett along.
"Let’s go, Isabelle."
Isabelle Everett, however, was unwilling, sitting still, "I haven’t finished eating yet, big brother, you go ahead."
"There’s afternoon tea over there, go and try it."
Ethan Everett still pulled Isabelle Everett away.
In his view, what was the point of his sister fancying Adrian Grant?
They wouldn’t get The Grant Family’s blessing.
Such a marriage that wronged his sister, they wouldn’t seek.
If Adrian Grant truly loved his sister, he would do everything to overcome all obstacles and marry her.
If Adrian Grant wouldn’t make sacrifices for her, it proved he wasn’t the right one for her.
Why should they be warm towards someone else’s cold shoulder?
Raina Lowell’s gaze involuntarily followed Ethan Everett.
She didn’t know why, but every time she saw Ethan Everett, she had a strange sense of familiarity.
Couldn’t help but want to get closer to him.
But with their status disparity, she could never actively show goodwill.
Besides, she only felt familiar with him, it’s not like she had any intentions towards him.
One wrong move, and people might think she had feelings for him.
"Raina Lowell, why are you so cheap."
Adrian Grant looked up just in time to see Raina Lowell staring at Ethan Everett.
He felt an inexplicable surge of jealousy in his chest, fuming and ready to explode.
Raina Lowell retracted her gaze, seeing that no one else was around, lowered her head and pleaded tearfully:
"Adrian Grant, my daughter is sick, can you let me into the estate to see her?"
Adrian Grant avoided her gaze and spoke words that were brutal and cold, "Let her die, it’s for the best."
Those two children were the last thing he wanted to see.
He didn’t want Raina Lowell to have any more contact with them.
Seeing her once a week was already the greatest concession to her.
"What did you say?"
Raina Lowell’s chest tightened, unable to believe Adrian Grant would curse her child like that.
She looked at him in despair, her eyes red.
Adrian Grant hadn’t yet realized the gravity of his words and spoke even more viciously.
"After all, they are just illegitimate kids, so ignoble. Letting them follow their father wouldn’t be a bad thing."
"Smack!"
As soon as Adrian Grant’s words fell, his handsome and sharp face was hit with a loud slap.
He was stunned, raising his eyes in shock to look at the woman who had slapped him.
Raina Lowell glared at him with hatred, tears silently falling.
"whatever you do to me is fine, but how could you say such vicious things about such young children, do you not feel any remorse?"
Adrian Grant, "..."
For a moment, he was completely bewildered.
Despite the burning pain on his face.
He still remained stoic, his eyes piercing as he stared at her.
Raina Lowell spoke angrily again: "Let me see my child, did you hear me."
Adrian Grant finally snapped back to reality, nearly flipping the table in anger.
But he maintained his appearance and gentlemanly demeanor, sitting calmly and stating:
"No way, you can only see her once a week."
"Fine, I’ll go find Grandpa."
Raina Lowell didn’t want to waste time arguing with him, turning to leave.
Adrian Grant promptly reached out to pull her back, "You dare go to the old house and try, is this how you beg for favors?"
