Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 32: Adrian Grant Kneels
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: ADRIAN GRANT KNEELS
Raina Lowell felt a little dazed.
Elias Sheridan wanted to adopt her Evelyn?
Why?
Her child had a mother, had food and drink, someone to take care of him, what right did Elias Sheridan have to just adopt him?
Raina Lowell sat there and refused without hesitation:
"Impossible, I will take care of my son myself. If he wants to teach my son some skills, he can teach him. Why does it have to be through adoption?"
Adrian Grant saw her fierce resistance and got annoyed too.
"If you don’t want him to think the child is an orphan, do you want him to know the child is yours?"
Raina Lowell was speechless.
So Elias Sheridan didn’t know yet that Evelyn was her child?
He wanted to adopt him because he thought Evelyn was an orphan?
Even so, handing her child over to someone else for the sake of her reputation, did she still deserve to be a mother?
Looking at Adrian Grant, Raina Lowell opposed:
"No matter what, I won’t agree to let anyone have Evelyn. He is my child, for this lifetime and beyond."
Adrian Grant glared at her coldly.
He really wanted to use violent means to separate her from the two children.
But some things were too cruel, he truly couldn’t bring himself to do it.
In the end, Adrian Grant compromised and tried to negotiate with her.
"Alright, even if you don’t let Elias Sheridan adopt him, you shouldn’t admit the child is yours. Just say he belongs to your best friend who passed away, entrusted to you for care."
Raina Lowell lowered her head, feeling particularly bitter inside.
The child she gave birth to, she couldn’t acknowledge as hers.
It was because she was Adrian Grant’s wife that saying anything would have an impact, and she feared the elderly couldn’t accept it.
Thinking that she also couldn’t keep the child hidden forever, Raina Lowell reluctantly agreed.
"Alright."
As long as the child stayed by her side, what did it matter under what identity she cared for him.
Adrian Grant ignored her and slammed the door on his way out.
When going downstairs, he encountered Evelyn carrying some food upstairs.
The little fellow, though small, was cautious and serious in everything he did.
Holding a tray bigger than himself and climbing one step at a time, it was quite amusing to watch.
Adrian Grant looked down at him, waiting for him to greet him.
But Evelyn didn’t even glance at him, looked at his long legs, and walked around him.
Left behind, Adrian Grant stood there, suddenly feeling a sense of being ignored and unwelcome.
He turned his head.
Seeing the child happily disappearing with the tray, he found it a bit laughable.
Was it just because last night he made his mother drink to the point of poisoning, that the kid didn’t like him and didn’t want him as a stepfather?
Ha, who cares.
Adrian Grant went downstairs, feeling frustrated.
Seeing Elias Sheridan in the living room preparing medication for Raina Lowell, he sat down beside him, expressionless.
"Raina Lowell doesn’t agree to the adoption, but you can visit often and teach him skills."
Elias Sheridan looked at him, "Where should I find him?"
"He has a sister, the two are twins, living in my estate on the outskirts. You should take the kids there later."
Thinking about how these weren’t his own children was bothersome for Adrian Grant to look at.
They needed to be sent away promptly.
Elias Sheridan agreed, "Alright, I’ll go there and check on his sister too."
He thought the children were Raina Lowell’s best friend’s.
Her best friend passed away, leaving the children to Raina Lowell, which made her their primary guardian.
It was understandable if she didn’t consent.
Elias Sheridan didn’t think much about it, as teaching the child skills didn’t necessarily require making him his son.
He continued preparing medicine for Raina Lowell, then went upstairs to give a few instructions.
"Make sure to eat lightly these days and get plenty of rest. I’ve prescribed you some herbal medicine to gradually adjust your health. Drink it every night before bed."
Then, looking at Evelyn who was lying by the bed, Elias Sheridan beckoned to him.
"Evelyn, come, take me to meet your sister."
Evelyn looked at his mother, still reluctant to leave.
Raina Lowell also knew the child couldn’t stay here indefinitely.
Otherwise, Adrian Grant might get upset.
When Adrian Grant was upset, he was capable of anything.
She said to her son:
"You go back and accompany your sister first. Once mom has rested up, I’ll come to be with you, okay?"
Evelyn frowned, looking very unhappy.
"Mom, why do you have a home here? Why can’t you come back with me?"
Sister must miss mom too.
If he went back without taking mom, sister would be disappointed.
Raina Lowell felt a pang in her heart, unsure how to respond.
Thinking about today’s situation, which was all her doing, she could only endure the bitterness in her heart and placate the child.
"Mom is working here. How about you go with Uncle Sheridan for now? Don’t you want to learn about medicine and saving people from Uncle Sheridan?"
The more she spoke, the guiltier Raina Lowell felt.
For the children to have such a mother, it truly was a sadness.
Evelyn perceived his mother’s difficulty.
He didn’t want to pressure his mother and obediently followed Elias Sheridan away.
All day long, Raina Lowell stayed in her room.
Thinking about the look of loss in her son’s eyes when he left, she couldn’t sit still.
Moreover, she felt her body was fine.
After changing into suitable clothes to return to the estate to be with the children, on her way out, she coincidentally encountered Adrian Grant returning from work.
In his neatly tailored classic suit, Adrian Grant blocked her path, exuding a haughty air.
"Where are you going?"
Raina Lowell answered truthfully, "I’m worried about the children, going to check on them."
"You should see them less often. Grandfather asked me to bring you back to the old house for dinner."
Seeing that the petite woman was dressed to go out, Adrian Grant went over and opened the car door for her.
Raina Lowell hesitated.
She knew it was rare for Grandfather to personally invite them back.
Could he have learned about the matters involving her and the kids?
Elias Sheridan couldn’t have mentioned it at the old house, could he?
Knowing she couldn’t refuse, Raina Lowell had no choice but to get in the car.
In the car, both remained silent the entire way.
Raina Lowell could also see that Adrian Grant was in a very bad mood, his handsome, stern face as dark as a pot’s bottom.
It was as if he was on his way to face execution.
Since he didn’t speak, Raina Lowell had no desire to start a conversation, leaning against the passenger seat and gazing out the window.
Upon arriving at the old house, Raina Lowell sensed the atmosphere was off.
Especially when stepping inside the villa, and in the living room, the elder, dressed in a Zhongshan suit and holding a cane, sat with authority.
His stern face gave the impression he was about to lash out, truly making one’s heart race with fear.
Beside him sat Mr. and Mrs. Grant.
The couple also appeared quite solemn.
Raina Lowell followed Adrian Grant over, greeting the elders courteously.
As soon as the greetings were done, the old master stared icily at Adrian Grant and commanded:
"Kneel down for me."
Adrian Grant was taken aback, "What happened?"
Wasn’t he over thirty, why was he getting scolded like a child?
Adrian Grant felt his dignity was at stake, unwilling to kneel.
Mrs. Grant quickly reminded him, "Just kneel if you’re told to, don’t defy your grandfather."
Adrian Grant had always been filial.
Seeing how angry his grandfather was, he wisely kneeled down on both knees.
As Raina Lowell prepared to kneel down out of fear, the elder stopped her with his cane.
"No need to kneel, Little Raina, come sit by me."
Raina Lowell had no choice but to go over. After sitting down, she breathed a sigh of relief.
It probably wasn’t because of her and the children’s matter.
Or could it be that Adrian Grant had messed up again?
In the next moment, she saw the elder lift his cane and strike Adrian Grant’s shoulder, questioning him:
"Did you mess around with that Everett Family’s adopted daughter again, and even let someone pour alcohol down Raina, making her drink to the point of vomiting blood?"
