Chapter 6: Those Two Children Really Are Madam’s Biological Kids
CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: THOSE TWO CHILDREN REALLY ARE MADAM’S BIOLOGICAL KIDS
Seeing that she still refused to confess.
Adrian Grant’s impulse to explode reached its peak.
But he knew very well it wasn’t the time yet.
In less than two days, he’d know the truth.
Adrian withdrew his gaze, suppressing his anger while elegantly dining.
Calm and collected, he said, "Grandpa’s not doing particularly well lately. We’ll talk about the divorce later."
Raina Lowell had just come from the Grant Family’s old house that morning, having spent the entire day with the elderly. Naturally, she knew how things were going.
But she still wanted the divorce as soon as possible.
Looking at Adrian Grant, Raina pleaded:
"Can we not tell Grandpa and keep the divorce from him?"
Adrian met her gaze.
"There’s no one you like outside, so what’s the rush? Or is being my wife an ordeal for you?"
He wanted to see how long she could keep up the charade.
She better hope those two kids aren’t hers, or even god couldn’t save her.
Raina was at a loss for words, choking a bit.
If she insisted on divorce now, would Adrian investigate her?
But thinking about this old man and Isabelle Everett, she couldn’t ignore it and sleep on the same bed with him like before.
Raina lowered her head, ate silently, and then prepared to head out again without a word.
Adrian looked at her, "It’s so late, where are you going?"
Raina stopped in her tracks, coldly replying:
"We’ll be divorced sooner or later, I’ve already taken my stuff out. I’m going to stay somewhere else."
She needed to go back to another house to be with her children.
Even if it’s not the time for divorce, she couldn’t continue living with this man.
Adrian knew well that Raina wanted to return to that other house.
Despite Caleb Landon saying there were no signs of a man residing there.
They still hadn’t found out who the children’s father was.
But Raina kept it from him, making him uncomfortable, and he stopped her:
"Until we’re divorced, you’re still the mistress of this house; without my permission, you’re not allowed to go anywhere."
Raina turned to look at him, feeling somewhat angry.
"Do you think we can live peacefully together?"
He clearly loved Isabelle, and once she left, wouldn’t he bring Isabelle over?
Raina couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t let her leave.
"Why not? We’ve lived like this for a year."
Adrian clung to her.
Always using words to pressure Raina into confessing the things she hid from him.
If she explained everything clearly to him, he might still accommodate and understand her.
But somehow, she insists on keeping secrets.
Playing him like a puppet.
Since things weren’t clear yet, he could refrain from flaring up, from questioning.
Once everything was sorted out, she wouldn’t have a chance to argue anymore.
"That’s because I didn’t know you’ve been involved with Isabelle for the past year."
Raina had to use Isabelle as an excuse again.
"You like her, just be with her happily, can’t I just make it happen for you?"
"I need your blessing?"
Seeing Raina stubborn as ever, Adrian was angered.
He got up, looming over her, his tall figure standing ahead, looking down:
"Raina Lowell, whom I marry is not for anyone to meddle in, but you, feeling so urgent to leave me, is there something fishy?"
Adrian’s words were clear, that whom he chooses to marry isn’t Grandpa’s matter to interfere.
Nor does he need her so-called blessing.
He’s hoping every reminder would make her realize the seriousness of the issue and confess to him sooner.
But Raina still refused to say anything.
Despite her growing tense and guilty, she kept the existence of those two children a secret.
She knew tonight she wouldn’t be able to leave.
Otherwise, Adrian would surely investigate her.
To hide her two children outside, Raina had no choice but to compromise and stay.
"Clearly it’s your problem, always pushing it on me."
She avoided him, turning and walked upstairs.
Adrian watched her slender back with complex emotions.
He couldn’t comprehend, was she waiting for Grandpa to pass from the day she registered their marriage to divorce him?
After divorce, she takes the kids abroad, cutting ties with him.
So that’s why she kept the children secret?
From the day he dragged Raina into the civil affairs bureau to register, he didn’t think about divorcing again.
He believed the kids outside couldn’t possibly be Raina’s biological children.
Adrian didn’t mind, went upstairs to the study room to work.
At ten in the evening.
He came to the master bedroom, only to find no trace of any figure on the big bed.
When he checked the guest room, the door was locked from the inside.
Clearly, Raina didn’t want to share a bed with him anymore.
Adrian felt immensely blocked in his mind but didn’t force her and returned to the master bedroom.
Early morning, Raina freshened up and went downstairs, prepared to go to Stardust Bay to see the kids.
Unexpectedly, Adrian was up even earlier, already well-dressed sitting in the dining room.
She intended to pretend not to see him, but the man called out to her:
"Come have breakfast, and by the way, tell me where you work, I’ll take you there."
Raina didn’t go into the dining room and responded abruptly, "No need, I’ll drive myself."
She even refused to eat, intending to leave.
But after taking a few steps, Adrian’s cold voice rang out again.
"Raina Lowell, don’t make me angry, or you can’t afford the consequences."
Hearing this, Raina nonetheless felt moderately intimidated.
She had no choice but to turn around into the dining room, sat down but still dared not meet the old man’s eyes, quietly ate her meal.
Adrian kept staring at her.
Seeing Raina’s delicate features, slender figure, at twenty-four still youthful like a college student.
Not to mention, in bed, he saw clearly she bore no traces of having birthed a child.
So those two children definitely couldn’t be hers.
Choosing to trust Raina, Adrian’s tone softened.
"What kind of work do you do?"
He admitted, previously he’d neglected her.
From now on, he’d put more thought into her, be good to her, and dispel her divorce intent.
Raina focused on her meal.
Mulling over what words to use to brush off the man.
After a moment, she offhandedly said, "Sales in a mall."
In truth, she didn’t have a job outside.
In the beginning, while abroad for her child, she didn’t even complete her studies.
But she became a magazine writer, submitting two articles a month, the payments sufficing for necessities.
Adrian asked again:
"Which mall, I’ll drop you off."
Raina immediately refused, "No need."
Adrian ignored it, after breakfast, still personally drove her out.
Raina knew she couldn’t refuse and randomly named the mall closest to Stardust Bay.
Anyway, Adrian wouldn’t genuinely check the mall.
While Adrian personally drove Raina to the mall, Caleb Landon’s call came through.
Adrian put on the Bluetooth headset, the person on the other side reported:
"President, the test results are out, those two children are indeed born of the madam."
