Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 88: Only Want Daddy, Not Mommy
CHAPTER 88: CHAPTER 88: ONLY WANT DADDY, NOT MOMMY
Two days later, Adrian Grant took the still severely injured Isabelle Everett back to the country.
He arranged for Isabelle to be admitted to the hospital, and as he was about to leave, Isabelle grabbed his hand and reminded him:
"Adrian, you promised me, divorce Raina Lowell as soon as we get back. I don’t want to wait too long."
If Adrian Grant does not do as she wishes, she will send Raina Lowell to jail again.
After all, Raina Lowell confessed to the crime.
No matter what Adrian Grant chooses, Isabelle will not lose out.
"I know, I’ll divorce her as soon as possible."
Adrian Grant withdrew his hand, leaving the words, "Take good care, I’ll go home first."
After leaving the hospital and getting into Caleb Landon’s car, Adrian Grant instructed:
"Help me check on Isabelle Everett, see who she’s been in contact with since returning to the country, and if there are any anomalies in her accounts or communications."
Although Raina Lowell is always full of lies, not many of her words are true.
He still needs to verify whether what she said is true.
After all, Isabelle Everett had also been away for four years, he hardly understands her anymore.
Caleb Landon nodded.
Thinking of something, he told Adrian Grant:
"Madam somehow got the news that you’re arranging treatment for the lady’s child. She rushed to the hospital and stopped the treatment. Should we continue the treatment for that child?"
Adrian Grant felt a headache, dodging the question, "Is she feeling better?"
"She was getting better, but the madam’s intervention in the last two days has made the situation worse..."
"Take me there to see first."
Adrian Grant didn’t deny it; it was someone else’s child, and he didn’t have to worry about it.
But he did promise Raina Lowell that he would help her find it.
Since they’re getting divorced, naturally he wanted to ensure the child was safely returned to Raina.
Another pediatric hospital.
When Adrian Grant arrived, he happened to catch Aurora waking up.
The little girl found herself surrounded by strangers and the severe pain in her body made her cry loudly.
The doctors and nurses around her were soothing her with soft words, but to no avail.
Seeing Adrian Grant arrive, the doctor hurriedly approached to report:
"President Grant, you finally came. Your mother forbade us from treating this child. She has been crying from the pain since waking up. What should we do about this..."
Adrian Grant, with a grim face, instructed, "Ignore my mother’s words, give her the best treatment available."
Listening to the child’s weak cries made his heartache, and he went over to take a look.
The little girl was even thinner than before, just skin and bones, her face pale, her eyes lifeless.
Big tears continued to fall.
Adrian Grant felt inexplicably touched as he prepared to console her. The little girl saw him and immediately reached out and lunged toward him.
In a soft voice, she called out: "Daddy, daddy, hug."
The single word "Daddy" nearly melted Adrian Grant’s heart.
He gently picked up the child in his arms, looking at her frail and pitiful appearance, and softly soothed her:
"Why are you crying? Does it hurt a lot? I’ll have the doctor check on you, okay?"
Aurora shook her head, raised her hand to encircle Adrian Grant’s neck, and nestled into his neckline, her voice soft and tender:
"Don’t leave Daddy, want to stay with Daddy forever."
Adrian Grant’s body stiffened.
He didn’t know what to do with this child.
He also didn’t understand why she would wake up and call him Daddy.
He clearly wasn’t her father.
Who her father is, even Raina Lowell might not know.
After all, that woman was once with Damien Sinclair, and another time with Alaric Jennings.
There’s no woman as indiscreet as she is.
"Boss, you have to admit, this child really looks like you."
Standing by the side, Caleb Landon listened to the child’s address and compared her with his boss.
Their eyebrows and eyes truly do resemble each other.
He was about to say more when Adrian Grant gave him a cold glare.
"If you can’t speak well, just stay silent."
Knowing full well that the child was born abroad by Raina Lowell, having nothing to do with him.
How could she possibly resemble him?
That woman has a heart of stone, could give birth for anyone but him.
He didn’t expect much, gently laying the child back on the bed.
Little did he know, Aurora clung tightly to his neck, refusing to let go, crying pitifully:
"Don’t leave Daddy, want Daddy, sob... want Daddy."
"Aurora hurts, wants Daddy hugs..."
Adrian Grant felt overwhelmed, gently explaining to her, "Aurora, I’m not your Daddy. I’m divorcing your mom. You need to heal quickly and return to her side."
The little girl seemed not to understand, shaking her little head as she continued to cry, unwilling to climb down from him.
Hearing the mention of her mom, she still showed no eagerness to find her mom.
Caleb Landon cautiously suggested, "Should I bring the lady over?"
Adrian Grant’s voice turned cold again, "Don’t call her ’lady’ anymore, we’re about to divorce. Contact her to come over."
After all, she’s not his child; he has no reason to stay and contend with the child.
But now, the child won’t let go of him, so he can only hold her and let the doctor administer the IV by her side.
With the president’s permission, Caleb Landon hurried to contact Raina Lowell.
Raina Lowell heard that she could see her daughter.
She left Alaric Jennings to look after Evelyn at Lowell Manor and hurried to the children’s hospital.
It was afternoon by the time she arrived.
Just as she walked into the ward, she saw Adrian Grant holding her daughter, sitting on the hospital bed.
That scene made Raina Lowell feel a fleeting sense of warmth.
But her heart was anxious for her daughter, and Raina Lowell quickened her pace, calling out:
"Aurora."
Not seeing her daughter for almost a few months, and now seeing how thin she had become, Raina Lowell quickly reached out to take her from Adrian Grant’s arms.
But even before taking her daughter away, the little girl began to cry again.
Crying, she clung tightly to Adrian Grant’s clothes, shaking her head and pleading:
"Don’t leave Daddy, want Daddy, sob... want Daddy."
Raina Lowell was somewhat stunned.
Her daughter hadn’t seen her in months and didn’t want her but clung to Adrian Grant.
Feeling distressed, she softly soothed her:
"Aurora, be good, Mommy’s here, let Mommy hold you, okay?"
"No, I want Daddy, only Daddy."
The little girl still wouldn’t let go, crying more intensely.
Raina Lowell felt a bit panicked, looking at Adrian Grant, "What’s going on, has she forgotten me?"
Adrian Grant was also puzzled about how this child could want him and not her own mother, quite unbelievable.
He tried to coax the child too:
"Aurora, she’s your mommy, stay with her. Uncle has to go now."
"No, don’t leave Daddy, only want Daddy."
She clung to Adrian Grant and wouldn’t let go, not even looking at Raina Lowell.
It was as if she had forgotten she had a mother.
Fearing her daughter had lost her memory, Raina Lowell, upon seeing the doctor enter, quickly inquired:
"Doctor, what’s happening to my daughter? Why doesn’t she remember me, her mommy?"
The doctor quickly stepped forward to examine the child.
Finally reaching a conclusion, he turned to Adrian Grant and Raina Lowell and said:
"This child suffered a significant head injury, which may have resulted in temporary amnesia, not remembering certain things. You both need to take good care of her, as time will heal."
