Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 97: Using Him for Revenge
CHAPTER 97: CHAPTER 97: USING HIM FOR REVENGE
One week later.
On the day of Aurora’s burial, it coincided with Adrian Grant and Isabelle Everett’s engagement.
Raina Lowell stood in the misty, rainy cemetery, holding her daughter’s urn, when she received a message from Isabelle Everett.
"Raina, we were friends after all. Today, Adrian and I are getting engaged. Aren’t you coming to the party?"
Attached were a few photos.
They were of Adrian Grant and Isabelle Everett, dressed in formal attire, hand in hand, looking like lovers finally united.
Raina Lowell’s eyes stung with tears, overwhelmed by a hatred that churned her insides like an impending explosion.
Her daughter was dead.
Yet the culprit was still at large, free to marry the man she desired, living a dazzling life.
Raina Lowell suppressed the hatred in her heart, put away her phone, gently stroked her daughter’s urn, and then placed it into the ground.
"Aurora, rest easy here. Once I’m done with everything, I’ll come to keep you company often."
She was determined to make Isabelle Everett pay the price.
And Adrian Grant.
Cold and unfeeling, blind and foolish.
One day, he would regret choosing Isabelle Everett.
Raina Lowell still couldn’t accept that her lovely daughter had left her just like that.
After placing her daughter’s urn, she couldn’t control her grief any longer and collapsed on the ground, crying uncontrollably.
Evelyn was also saddened.
Thinking that she would no longer have her sister, she couldn’t hold back her tears either.
Alaric Jennings held an umbrella for them, squatting beside them to allow them to cry to their heart’s content.
After today, they all needed to pull themselves together.
Strive to find evidence and make those who hurt Aurora pay the price.
At that moment, at a six-star hotel.
During the engagement ceremony with Isabelle Everett, Adrian Grant was distracted, feeling uneasy.
He knew very well that he did not love Isabelle Everett.
Engaging with her was merely to make her spare Raina Lowell and not pursue criminal charges against her.
It was also because four years ago, he had drunkenly taken responsibility after being with her.
Thus, as soon as the engagement ceremony ended, he made an excuse to leave early.
Leaving the elders of both families looking at each other awkwardly in the hotel.
Isabelle Everett, in high heels and an expensive dress, followed him out of the banquet hall and grabbed Adrian Grant.
"Adrian, no matter how urgent something is, you should at least send the elders off before leaving. How do you think my parents will take this?"
Adrian Grant thought about how today was Aurora’s burial day.
Raina must be very sad.
Even though he resented what that woman had done before, he still wanted to go see the cemetery.
He coldly shrugged off Isabelle Everett’s hand.
"You wanted me to get engaged to you immediately, and I agreed. Isabelle, I’ve only just divorced Raina, give me some time to adjust."
He strode away without looking back.
Isabelle Everett stomped her foot in anger, wanting to chase after him, but Ethan Everett’s sarcastic voice sounded from behind:
"Do you think by threatening him with Raina to marry you, he will become yours? Isabelle, you need to understand one thing, a man who loves you will come to you willingly, instead of you desperately approaching him while he can’t even spare a glance your way."
Anyone with eyes could see that Adrian Grant had Raina Lowell in his heart.
Otherwise, why wouldn’t he care about the two children she bore?
To prevent Raina Lowell from going to jail, he even agreed to Isabelle’s unreasonable demands.
Yet, this foolish woman preferred self-deception rather than face reality.
"Brother, I believe that with time, Adrian’s heart will return to me. No need for you to worry."
Thinking that she and Adrian Grant were now engaged.
Marriage was a sure thing, and later she would be Mrs. Grant, unshakeable by anyone.
At this point, Isabelle Everett ignored Ethan Everett’s feelings for her, turning coldly back to the banquet hall.
She had to win over Mr. and Mrs. Grant.
Now that Old Master Grant was gone, to secure her position in the Grant Family, she needed to first satisfy her future father-in-law and mother-in-law.
With the title of Mrs. Grant, she would no longer have to live with the identity of an adopted daughter in The Everett Family.
Ethan Everett watched Isabelle Everett’s retreating figure, with a faint pain in his heart.
This was the woman he had loved secretly for so long.
Providing her with the best of everything from childhood, sending her to study abroad, grooming her into the leading socialite of Southgate.
In the end, it was only to dress someone else for marriage.
Ethan Everett laughed bitterly.
Laughed at his own foolishness.
How could he fall in love with such a cold and heartless woman?
...
Adrian Grant asked Caleb Landon to drive him to the cemetery.
When he arrived, it was afternoon.
The cemetery was enveloped in drizzling rain and thick fog.
The visibility was very low, but still, he heard the piercing cries of a child.
It was Evelyn’s voice.
Adrian Grant followed the sound and saw the family of three squatting before the tombstone, holding an umbrella while burning paper offerings for Aurora.
Adrian Grant stood stiffly, hesitant to approach, for fear of disturbing the family.
And afraid that Raina didn’t want to see him again.
But Raina Lowell saw him anyway.
She remained calm, staying in the cemetery with her daughter all day; it was time they left.
Raina Lowell looked at Alaric Jennings, her voice hoarse from prolonged crying.
"Could you take Evelyn back for me?"
Alaric Jennings noticed Adrian Grant’s presence too, unsure of Raina’s intentions, he asked:
"Do you want to go with him?"
Raina Lowell did not deny it, expressing her inner thoughts:
"He’s engaged to Isabelle Everett now, and to expose Isabelle’s true nature, I need to take away what she values most."
As long as she provoked Isabelle Everett, Isabelle would certainly strike again.
But this time, she wouldn’t let Isabelle Everett succeed.
Alaric Jennings knew that Raina intended to risk herself.
He was a bit worried: "Are you not falling in love with Adrian Grant?"
That man, despite being older, was charming.
Otherwise, Isabelle Everett wouldn’t have wanted to marry him so quickly.
Raina Lowell continued to tear paper money and place it in the flames, her pale face betraying no emotion.
"I only want to avenge Grandpa and Aurora. Once Isabelle Everett is in prison, I’ll take Evelyn and return to Yarrow with you."
This made it clear that she planned only to use Adrian Grant, not to develop any feelings for him.
Alaric Jennings understood.
Isabelle Everett was so cautious in her actions that finding any trace was impossible.
Perhaps Raina’s risky attempt was the only way to achieve her goal.
He agreed, picking up Evelyn and coaxing: "Evelyn, let’s go home first."
Because of her sister’s departure, Evelyn seemed to have completely changed, no longer the lively child she once was.
When Uncle Jennings took him away, he didn’t resist.
He only looked at Raina Lowell, tearfully saying,
"Mom, I’ll wait for you to come home."
After watching Alaric Jennings leave with her son, Raina Lowell stood up and walked towards Adrian Grant.
Standing in front of him, she seemed so frail and broken, pitiful beyond words.
Almost fainting.
Adrian Grant raised his hand to support her, asking with concern, "Are you okay? Why didn’t you leave with them?"
Raina Lowell didn’t give a direct answer, instead, she deliberately fell into his arms, clinging to him, sobbing:
"Adrian, Aurora will never come back, she left me. I’m in so much pain. Could you hold me?"
