Chapter 445: Is Such a Small Request Troublesome?
CHAPTER 445: CHAPTER 445: IS SUCH A SMALL REQUEST TROUBLESOME?
Wei Lan and Li Haidong were whispering to each other, and Louis quickly noticed them. He asked, "Mr. Li, Mrs. Li, is there something about my service that you’re dissatisfied with? If so, you can tell me directly, and I’ll make corrections right away."
Sang Ning glanced over with suspicion. Wei Lan, fearing she might overhear, hastily waved at Louis. "No, no, you’ve done very well. We’re quite satisfied—just keep doing things at your own pace."
"Receiving affirmation from Mr. Li and Mrs. Li is my honor." Louis bowed slightly, and after finishing speaking with Wei Lan, he raised his head and addressed everyone present, "Ladies and gentlemen, please take a midday break to recharge before participating in the upcoming activities. If anyone has any special requests, please let me know in advance, and I’ll do my utmost to fulfill them."
After Louis finished speaking, everyone returned to their own suites.
The production team had provided ample privacy; the suite interiors were not broadcasted live, allowing everyone to completely relax and enjoy a brief moment of solitude.
Not long after Louis left, he returned—but this time he brought a platter of premium fruits, Western-style desserts, and beverages.
Sang Ning’s room was the last one he delivered to. Just as Louis was about to leave after finishing his deliveries, Sang Ning called him back and lowered her voice at the suite entrance to ask, "Xiao Lu, about what you said earlier—that you’d fulfill any request—was that for real?"
"Of course it’s for real." Louis straightened his back, his gaze resolute. "Miss Sang, you can’t randomly question the professional integrity of a high-level butler. As long as it’s within legal bounds, I will certainly meet your requests!"
Sang Ning looked around, raised her hand to beckon Louis closer, and, cupping her hand near her lips, whispered her request to him in an even lower voice.
After hearing it, Louis’s previously steadfast gaze suddenly became hesitant.
Sang Ning noticed his wavering and furrowed her brows. "What’s the matter? Is this request too difficult? Just now, weren’t you boasting about fulfilling any request we made? And now, such a small favor is throwing you for a loop?"
Louis was indeed at an impasse; his eyebrows furrowed so tightly they seemed ready to knit themselves together.
Sang Ning lost interest and waved him off. "Forget it, forget it. If it’s too troublesome, then don’t do it. I was just throwing a casual suggestion out there anyway."
Sang Ning retreated into her room and was about to close the door when Louis suddenly raised his hand to stop her. "Wait. It’s not a problem; I can arrange it."
Sang Ning’s eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Really." Louis nodded, although with a hint of reluctance. "Your request isn’t difficult to handle; it’s just that it might not reflect well on Miss Sang’s personal image. Are you sure you want to..."
Before he could finish, Sang Ning interrupted him. "It’s just for fun anyway; as long as I’m happy, I’m not going to do anything out of line."
"Alright, then..." Louis reluctantly agreed.
But once he left, he was consumed by doubt—was this really a good idea?
This time Louis truly left. Sang Ning retreated to her room, where the fruit, desserts, and beverages he had just delivered sat on the coffee table.
She picked up an oversized, smooth-shelled coconut bowl, sat down on the floor, and began sipping the coconut water through the straw inserted in it.
The coconut was a renowned local water coconut from New Island. Its juice was light, sweet, and fragrant—just the right level of sweetness—and left a lingering taste in the mouth after each sip, making it wonderfully refreshing and satisfying.
Sang Ning polished off nearly half the coconut in one go before picking up a small, delicate chocolate mousse. She seated herself by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, her gaze fixed outside while she ate slowly, bite by bite.
Waves of fish swam past. Sitting inside her room, Sang Ning was surrounded by the serene glow of underwater light, and she felt as though she had melded with the ocean itself.
A brilliantly colored fish suddenly swam up to her, bumped into the glass, and staggered backwards, shaking its tail in disoriented confusion. Sang Ning scooped up a spoonful of mousse and lifted it as though offering it. "Seriously, buddy? You want to eat this?"
The fish bumped against the glass a couple more times, but still couldn’t breach the transparent barrier.
Sang Ning laughed lightly. "Buddy, go back. This isn’t something you can eat, and I wouldn’t dare disrupt the marine ecosystem."
She got up and placed the mousse back on the coffee table. The little fish bumped into the glass a few more times before eventually swimming away, tail swishing.
The heat sapped everyone’s appetite. Sang Ning had drunk half the coconut water and eaten most of the mousse square but found her stomach was already full to the brim. She couldn’t muster any interest in the extravagant fruits on the table and casually sprawled flat on the bed.
Under the soothing and tranquil hue of the room’s blue ambiance, Sang Ning felt utterly relaxed. Gazing at the water overhead, she allowed herself to drift off into sleep.
Right before closing her eyes, she muttered to herself, "Li Juezhou, you sly dog—you’ve outdone yourself this time. At the very least, I’m happy now."
Sang Ning was genuinely exhausted and slept for a long time.
The same went for the other guests—even the youngest and most energetic, Song Shiye, couldn’t hold out.
He had initially planned to seize the downtime while everyone was napping to do some workbook problems. But after opening the workbook and sitting at his desk, he somehow ended up on the bed—and before he knew it, his head was on the pillow and his eyes were already shut.
If Louis hadn’t come to provide wake-up service, Sang Ning had a reasonable suspicion that she would have slept straight through to midnight.
When she woke up and glanced at the wall clock, it was already New Island local time, 5:30 p.m.
Louis didn’t immediately rush everyone out the door; instead, he gave them twenty minutes to freshen up.
After getting out of bed, Sang Ning changed into a form-fitting white strappy short dress. Though it was still a dress, this one was clearly much more convenient than a long one—at least she didn’t have to fuss over lifting the hem.
Once all the guests had tidied up and stepped outside, Louis led them toward dinner.
On the way there, Sang Ning couldn’t resist teasing Louis. "Who’d have thought that coming to New Island would mean living like pigs? Eat, sleep, then wake up and eat again."
Louis glanced at Sang Ning with a puzzled look. Why would such a beautiful lady compare herself to a pig?
The dinner location was right by the sea. By the time the guests arrived, it was already six in the evening. The sun was suspended on the horizon, hovering between setting and not, its afterglow spreading across the sea, creating a scene of serene beauty.
It was an open-air banquet. A massive canopy was set up by the shore, adorned with strand upon strand of star-shaped ambient lights. As the sky darkened, the soft lighting complemented the sunset’s lingering radiance, creating a momentary sense that the world had come to a halt—with only the sound of the waves echoing through the air.
Beneath the canopy, three long tables, each approximately three meters in length, were arranged in a row. The tables were already laden with an array of sumptuous seafood dishes, while people bustled around placing more dishes.
Louis gestured elegantly to the group. "Beautiful ladies and distinguished gentlemen, please take your seats."
