CHAPTER 299: CHAPTER 176: BATTLE OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS (10,000 WORDS)
Wesley asked in confusion, "A suitable position for me?"
"Master, is it related to archery?"
Lynn looked at Wesley with appreciation, "Yes, I need you to help me train the archers."
"They don’t need to be perfect shots, just need to be able to perform volleys and direct shots, that will be enough!"
A hint of joy appeared on Wesley’s face, "Then this position is indeed more suitable for me!"
Naturally, Wesley was unwilling to go to a paper mill and work as an ordinary paper worker.
He is an archer!
Accompanied by several guards, Lynn took Wesley to the archery training ground outside the town.
From a distance, Lynn could already see Red leading a group of soldiers in unified training!
However,
Lynn did not immediately lead Wesley in, but stood at the back and watched from afar.
A few minutes later,
A slightly surprised voice came from Wesley’s mouth.
"Huh?"
"Master, that burly man..."
Lynn explained, "Red Harper, the guard captain of the territory, and also a hunter."
"Due to the lack of archery trainers, I temporarily appointed him..."
Upon hearing this,
Wesley suddenly understood, "I see."
"I thought their training methods were a bit odd, but this way, they can indeed teach soldiers how to draw a bow and shoot!"
Lynn said nothing, stepping into the training ground.
Red had just finished a round of training, preparing to train the next batch.
He keenly noticed Lynn coming over with a few people from behind.
Red stepped forward a few paces to Lynn’s side, glanced at Wesley, and respectfully said, "Master."
Lynn nodded, "This is Wesley, a skilled marksman like you."
"From now on, he’ll teach these soldiers archery training."
Hearing Lynn’s words, Red showed no surprise.
It seemed that before Lynn’s introduction, Red had already sensed this.
Red bowed and said, "Yes, Master."
Lynn looked at Wesley, and before Lynn could speak, Wesley walked forward.
From the wooden rack beside, he picked up a longbow.
He held it in his hand, continuously testing it for a moment before heading to the target area.
Wesley took out three triangular armor-piercing arrows from the quiver nearby.
Under the gaze of Lynn, Red, and all the soldiers, he tossed the three triangular armor-piercing arrows into the air overhead.
The three armor-piercing arrows scattered instantly and, under gravity, fell towards Wesley below.
Without even raising his head, Wesley reached up, and his right hand accurately grasped one of the armor-piercing arrow tails.
Withdrawing his arm, he nocked and drew the bow; the longbow instantly went full draw.
With a slight release of his right fingers, the arrow shot out swiftly.
Whoosh!
After a sharp whistling sound, the armor-piercing arrow hit the bullseye precisely.
However, Wesley’s actions didn’t stop; his body tilted slightly, capturing another falling arrow with his fingers again.
Nocking and drawing the bow, the bow was fully drawn, fingers released.
The armor-piercing arrow went towards the target ahead once more.
Thunk~
A crisp sound followed as the armor-piercing arrow hit the target’s bullseye precisely!
At this moment,
The final arrow was about to fall to the ground.
Under all the gazes, Wesley crouched suddenly, his right hand darted down, grabbing the falling arrow directly with his right hand.
Wesley nocked the arrow again, drew the bow, released the fingers, and the arrow shot out, hitting the bullseye accurately!
After completing all this, Wesley habitually slung the longbow over a shoulder onto his back.
Clap~ Clap~
Amidst the sudden applause, a burst of clapping ensued.
Wesley walked up to Lynn and said, "Master, Wesley was a bit clumsy."
Lynn was not stingy with words of praise, "Very impressive archery!"
This level of archery can no longer be described as simply excellent.
To achieve this, one must have keen perception and agile body technique.
Beside Lynn, Red looked at Wesley with eyes full of approval.
Lynn’s gaze shifted to the soldiers on the training ground and shouted, "Assemble!"
The soldiers, who had been paying attention to Lynn, Red, and Wesley all along, heard the command of the lord.
They quickly shouldered their longbows and ran to the front of Lynn, beginning to line up.
Two hundred soldiers stood in a formation with only a fist’s gap between them.
The formation wasn’t grand, but the orderly arrangement from short to tall still made it pleasing to the eye.
Lynn swept his gaze over the crowd, and said, "I mentioned before that, without a qualified instructor to lead your training, Captain Red would lead you himself."
The soldiers’ faces were stern.
"Now, your instructor is here—Wesley Don Quixote!"
"From this moment on, he will lead you in daily archery training, and after that, he will lead you in any operations."
"Do you understand?"
Upon Lynn’s words, a uniform shout erupted from the soldiers.
"Understood!"
Lynn nodded contentedly, looking at Wesley.
Wesley understood immediately, stepping forward to appear in the sight of the soldiers.
"Wesley Don Quixote."
"You may call me Instructor Wesley..."
Though, as Wesley said, the Don Quixote family had declined.
But Wesley still had such a presence, in both his stance and the tone of his speech, clearly trained formally.
This was precisely what Lynn needed the most at the moment.
He needed someone to train these soldiers in a formal, systematic way, to ensure they follow orders to the letter.
As Wesley introduced himself, drawing closer to the soldiers and beginning to organize a training plan,
Lynn gave Wesley a few instructions before leaving the archery training ground.
Red, no longer needed to lead the soldiers, quickly followed Lynn.
Looking at the familiar back of Master Lynn, a sense of inexplicable reassurance appeared in Red.
As Lynn walked, he asked, "Red, do you wish to stay by my side, or do you want to lead a team of soldiers?"
Listening to Lynn’s query, Red almost without hesitation replied, "Master, I’m not suited to lead soldiers!"
Red naturally knew that if he wished, Lynn would without hesitation assign him a team of soldiers.
Just like those archers on the training ground.
However, Red was well aware of his abilities; he lacked the capability to command soldiers and the ability to lead them well.
Lynn glanced back at Red and said, "Then stay by my side in the future. Where I go, you go!"
