CHAPTER 54: SYSDI 54: INTO THE HIGHEST FLOOR 5
The new area that Evan saw does not look like the main library downstairs that everyone can access and the room he had just came from.
The walls were painted grey here, or at least, a different colored that has a darker shade because it is darker here. Intricate details of curved lines forming like patterns were chiseled. The chiseled part were of a lighter color than the walls itself. What color, Evan couldn’t tell at the moment.
There are lamps on the walls, but none of them were on. That contributes to the weirdness and the interest that he has over finding this place.
If this is just at the walls, Evan would have some time in finding more about this place. He would have to be in the Simulation Zone for it to work, but he would be able to move around and see what is hidden in this place.
His eyes looked below him and saw the hole with the top of the ladder. Moving down, he landed on a small platform, with a small dead end on both left and right. He moved to the only space he could and looked up. There is another ladder.
Floating up a little, he saw that the ladder itself has to be put down from where it is now. His head popping through the top where the ladder is being covered, the floor leads to the part of the forbidden room he was just in.
He fully moved back to the same room he was looking for books to read. He can’t help but wonder how there is a hidden place even more hidden than the forbidden part of the library?
Perhaps they forgot about it? Or is Grandma Grey the only one who truly knows about what that place was?
Whatever it was, Evan knew how to access that room once he does get access again to this. He will find a way to get in there one day, walking around and not floating around, preferably. But for now, with no light in that area and he couldn’t turn the lamps on, he won’t be able to venture far anyway.
Disappointed, he had to come back to what he was doing. He has only found one, maybe two books he wanted to get. Or borrow, not that anyone would notice, he hoped.
He made his way towards the shelves of books, skimming and searching for titles once again. He found two other books, each on different shelves and on different rows too. He list their location down on the paper he still had.
Tenth bookshelf, seventh row, 27th book from the left.
Second bookshelf, first row, 3rd book from the left.
By the time he was done and he had reached the stairs, he saw Iva bouncing up to the top of the stairs.
"Iva?" Evan says, with a raised eyebrow.
"Evan!" Iva the slime says, bouncing to his shoulder. "I saw plenty of interesting books down there. Once we get there, I need- no, I want you to take all of those that I told you about."
He slowly blinked his eyes at Iva’s enthusiasm. Since when was Iva a giant reader? "Is it for your use or mine?" He asked, curious at what it found that made it this... Excited? He has no idea how to describe Iva at the moment.
Iva hums. "Remember the book you found that had let you learn Cure? I saw three more like it downstairs."
Evan nods his head along with what Iva is saying. That is a good thing. Because of Clara’s reaction before, he somewhat has a clue that the books were probably in the library waiting for watch users like him to find, maybe.
"That’s good. I would need all the abilities that we can find." Then, he paused, remembering that is not the only thing he asked for it to find. "Did you find anything else?"
Iva sighs. "Books to read for you? Not really. There’s plenty of books downstairs almost like this one except more crowded. But from the titles I saw, none of them fits what you needed."
Evan sighs. That’s to be expected. He already found a lot of books that will keep him occupied for a few more days anyway. "So, you’re this excited because you found something. What is it?"
Iva bounced a little more on his shoulder. "I may not have found anything for you. But books to read for me, specifically? I found lots! Languages, culture the likes and so many more! It’s like that entire room downstairs is made to keep record or at least a copy of what happened in years! We should go back here again next time. We can’t leave this as a one time thing."
"Okay, Iva, calm down." Evan scratched the back of his neck. "You were skeptical of us going here and now you want to get back when we’re not even done with our current task yet? We finish this and then we plan what to do next at a later date. It’s getting close to the Entrance Exams I need to be fully prepared."
Iva sighs in resignation. "Fineeeee. But we need to get at least 4 books for me. I won’t settle for less."
Evan rolls his eyes. "Yeah, whatever. Did you make sure you remember where exactly the places where?"
Before Iva could reply, Evan blinks and he is back in the entrance of the forbidden area of the library. That means that Iva did explore and find out exactly where the places where.
That back news was that he is back outside the door. The instant realization that someone is behind and beyond the door at the moment and about to leave the room made him panic.
Iva in his shoulder, he scanned the room for any hiding place just as the door knob in front of him clicks open, and the same guy opens the door and Evan is still attempting to hide.
