CHAPTER 55: SYSDI 55: INTO THE HIGHEST FLOOR 6

Finding a spot in between two bookshelves on the door’s blind spot and moving as quickly and quietly as he can, Evan could only hope that he wasn’t caught immediately as the door swings open entirely.

The man who had opened it was laughing boisterously. "Yeah, well, like I said, ghost aren’t real. What she heard? Wind. I have to go now. See you tomorrow."

The door closed again. Evan waited to hear the lock click into place again to possibly spoil his only chance at going back without the Simulation Zone.

But the man’s footsteps continued to go further and further away and Evan didn’t hear a single sound of the door locking once again.

He really felt that today is his lucky day. He hopes not to have jinxed it.

Iva on his shoulder, he slowly turns the door knob. Based off of his memory, there’s only a handful of people near the door. It would be easy to slip in without anyone noticing.

Swinging the door as quietly as he could, he enters the room. Cold air blew past him making him shiver slightly. He closed the door behind him as quietly as he could. Then, he looked at the paper he had in hand and began to get to the spots he had marked.

First, was the one he had found first, the blue book.

Just like he had listed, he found the book on the third bookshelf, fourth row, and behind the 16th book from the left.

He took it and instead of opening it, he looked at the spine, the front and back. Seeing no labels on it, he didn’t open it for now and just placed it on his item inventory space, after he had called out his panel quietly.

He also got the book there that caught his attention, the one about magical beams. He might not be able to learn it like he does with the books he had found, at least, he might still be able to learn something from reading that book.

Then, he was making his way towards the other two books that he had written where he found them. Tenth bookshelf, seventh row, 27th book from the left was the third book and second bookshelf, first row, 3rd book from the left, is the fourth book he found.

Once he is done. Evan takes a deep breath. "I’ll have you unsummoned so you can guide me in my head." He whispered to Iva.

Without waiting for a response from it, he mutters: "Unsummon Pet Iva."

Iva disappeared in a faint light. Thankfully, the room is well-lit, so a difference in light when it is faint is nearly unnoticeable.

’That was very risky.’ Iva’s voice echoed in his mind. ’If you had unsummoned me before we entered, it would be better.’

’I thought I might lost the opportunity if we waited a little longer.’ Evan shrugged as he looks around, making sure that he is still in the clear. ’Where’s the books you told me you found for me?’

’Open the map and I’ll mark the locations for you.’ Iva says.

Evan sighs at that. Still, it is much easier for Iva to mark it for him instead of being told where to go. At least he’ll see where people are downstairs.

"Status." Evan mutters under his breath. "Map tab."

Evan still needs to constantly call for his status just so he can get to his map. It is highly inconvenient if he is trying to sneak in. But at least it is helpful to know where people are that he is trying not to get caught with.

The map is obscuring at least half of his vision, so he would have to recall for it later. For now, he watched where the closest book to him is. There are seven marked spots that Iva gave him.

Which meant his three books and Iva’s four.

Evan saw the place where most of the books Iva had told him about were. Thankfully, they are closer to him. Not so thankfully, there are more people in that location.

He decided to get through the furthest for now. It was in the opposite side of the stairs, to the right, by the corner.

He removed the map from his vision and made his way towards the direction, sneaking, until he got to it. There’s the familiar feeling of being drawn on that spot that when he took a book, he saw a white colored book behind it.

He immediately looked for the title on it.

Spine? None.

Front? None.

Back? None.

After making the assessment, he puts the book in his item inventory. He was able to get to the next book quickly, as it is only behind the bookshelf that he had been.

It was Iva’s book, since it has a title. He didn’t bother reading what it was. He just took it.

Slowly but surely, he was able to get to the spots where the books were. Soon, he only needed to get three more books, two more of his and one of Iva’s.

After checking the map and confirming the location, there are three other people around the bookshelves that Iva had found their interest lie.

The people there have moved somewhat, but stayed relatively in the same area. How are they going to get near it?

He took a deep breath and slowly approached the final bookshelf. He would have to wait for an opportunity to show up, for him to snatch the books while those three wasn’t in the same spot at the same time.

As he waits, that’s when he heard a voice. Well, two voices were talking but only one is familiar.

"Are you sure that the book of Ecklesi language is here? We’ve been searching for hours and we have not seen a single thing."

"I’m sure. I heard my father talking about it. Aren’t you interested in the language our ancestors talks in, Spire?"

Evan’s eyes widened. The first person who spoke... that was Spire!?
